Chapter 39 : Reunited

Serena and Cain transform back into their human forms. I get distracted for a second, thinking about how their clothes just magically appear and disappear when they shift, but I remind myself I have bigger problems to deal with. The two shifters are looking at me with rage. They walk over to me. Both of them have their arms crossed, and they look pissed.
“What the hell, Morgan?! Why did you distract us?” Cain asks. The usual joking boy is now looking at me with irritation.
“Yeah, you let him get away,” Serena adds. She is wearing the same expression as Cain.
Damn it, how do I explain my actions? I take a deep breath and try to organize my thoughts. When I’m ready, I begin to argue my case.
“Okay, I know it was a bit of a stupid move to protect my kidnapper—" I say, but Serena interrupts me.
“You think?!”
I hold up my hands, hoping she’ll let me finish my point.
“But I don't regret what I did because it was the right thing to do,” I tell them.
