Questions

My dad says. "Scarlet come sit with me please. Let's talk while we eat. I know you have questions and what I want to discuss may answer a few of them." We walk to the front of the room to a long table and my dad take a seat in the middle, a woman which I assume is Beth sits to his left and I sit to his right. Courtney sat across from me, and Jack sits across from dad. Once we all sat down, I notice that everyone started back talking and a young girl brings my dad a plate full of food and as she sets it down in front of him and bows. Why is everyone bowing.

"I understand you have questions, and I will give you all the answers. But for now, let us enjoy our meal and get to know each other."

"Well, I will keep added to my extensive list that I already have stated." I chuckled at my comment to my dad. I have started to notice little things about him since our drive. He was nervous about something, though I could not tell what yet. The meal was fantastic. I have always been a meat a potatoes girl, but this steak was out of this world. Mashed potatoes with gravy that made my mouth water just looking at it, next was steamed vegetables, so tender that the broccoli melted in my mouth. Sitting her thinking I could not eat another bite, a tall slender blond-haired boy brings a tray is strawberry cheesecake. Yes, I do believe I am in heaven today.

Soon everyone finished eating and slowly started to clear out of the dining room and we headed to my dad's office. I only thought this place looked huge from the outside, nope it really was huge! Walking to the office I took notice of pictures on the wall of my dad's current family, with a ping of sadness I needed to know why he didn't want me and now he wants me here. I am not a bold person but something inside me telling me to be strong and stand up to fight. All the picture showed the perfect happy family that I so desperately wanted growing up. No, I never lacked for anything, but my mom never moved on form loving my dad ither. As much as I know she wanted to, she never could force herself to do it.

Resentment flooded my heart for my dad that has been pent up for a long time. Could I really forgive him? I know that my mom really wants me to try but was that something I wanted for myself. I am not so sure right now. I will at least hear my dad out on what he needs to tell me. After that, I will not what will happen, but I will not let my guard down while I am here. While I trusted my father, I could feel there was something else here that made me feel danger.

Finally reaching his office and taking my seat, I wanted answers and now. "Dad there are things I need to know. And I do not want you to hide time from me anymore. If you want me to play this game of yours, you will answer my questions tonight." I knew everything I said sound harsh towards my dad, but I have this feeling that I needed to get my point across that this was not a game to me.

"I see." His demeanor changes just enough for me to notice. It is almost like he is proud of the way spoken to him. "I will answer any questions you have, I know that all of this must be overwhelming to you."

"For one you know nothing about me. I am here only because mom asked me to give you a chance. So I such that you start by explaining to me why it was so important that I have to come and live with you when your 'mate' obviously does not want me here." Yes I am smirking at him. He may be my father but he knows next to nothing about me. My mom raised me to be a strong and independent person, not a push over who takes crap. Yes I was shy in school but that is only because I have no interest in it other than graduating.

"You are right Scarlet. I do not know anything about you, but you do not know me either. Neither do you know Beth. Please give her a chance to warm up to you. I have kept you a secret from her for a long time and it was a shock for her to find out that the daughter we created together is not an alpha."

"What does that have to do with me? I am not even sure I am whatever you are. I do not have half of the things the book speaks of. What makes you so sure that I even have a wolf?" I have read most all of the book that mom found, I do not hear my wolf, I do not have the ability to smell the way it talks about, I am not sure about anything else though.

"Scarlet, you do have a wolf, I can sense her. She will come out when you are ready. You were not raised as a werewolf, so she is locked up in your mind right now. But when you are ready, she will emerge. Until then, what else can I answer for you?"

"Other than me being here for shifting purposes why am I here? I know it is not just because you want me to learn about 'this'." Stretching my arms out and fanning around the room. I know there is more. "I know there is more to what is going on. So please spare me all the theatricals and just tell me what is going here. I really do not want to be blindsided."

"I see so much of myself in you. You are stronger than you know. You will make a great Alpha one day. Scarlet, you are my heir, my first born. That means that one day my pack, this pack, with be yours to take care of. One day I will need to step down as Alpha and you will need to step up."

"Wait a minute, back up dad. You want me to what? I don't even have a wolf, how can you expect me to do that, plus I know nothing about a pack. How can you expect that of me and how can you expect them to accept it?"

"The will accept you as their Alpha, as long as you accept them. I brought you here in hopes to teach you about your heritage and how the pack runs."

"Why can't Courtney take over as Alpha? I mean she's your daughter and has been raise here and already knows this stuff. I can not possibly learn everything she already knows quick."

"While Courtney is my daughter her wolf is not an Alpha like yours. Your wolf will be special Scarlet, I am not sure what or how your wolf is special, but it is. Normally all the alpha's first pups are male, as the moon goddess promises, however you are obviously female. I know you are wondering how I know you are special, the Moon Goddess, Selene, told me in a dream that you were special and instructed me to train you."
