1 The Phone's Grand Escape.

"Ding. Ding." The doorbell continues to ring, the sound enters the corners of my skull and bounces around inside. Reluctantly, I tore myself from the couch and paused the show. Groaning with each step as I walked through my hallway to the door.

I stuck my face against the peephole. Not to any surprise, there was no-one at my concrete doorstep, even though I had a welcome mat.

"Must have been those annoying kids again.." I said agitated while clenching a fist. "I swear I'll bloody slap them, right across the cheek."

I opened the door to see where those kids had gone, but almost tripped upon one step out the door. I heard a crack, from right below me. I jolted my head facing downwards and cracked my neck in the process. I could see a white box with transparent packaging under my feet.

Being a bit cautious, I studied the box as I held it in the air. I thought out loud "It could be another dull-witted prank against me.." but as I held it closer to my face, the box began to glow a blinding golden yellow.

The light startled me and I had dropped the box onto my grey concrete verandah. It let out a light bright enough the entire block could see. The light condensed into a pillar shooting into the sky, piercing a cumulonimbus in two.

This pillar of light had continued for a solid thirty seconds until it died down slowly and the box unsealed itself.

Within a foam casing, there laid a smartphone that reflected a gleam of heavenly gold, but it felt so sinister. Like 18 of the world's mass murderers sat in a room, exposing loads of bloodlust towards each other but only raising the tension in the room.

I was hesitant to pick it up at first, but the commotion it caused made several neighbours exit their living quarters. I quickly retreated to the safety of my couch, and relaxed with comfort knowing that no-one within my community would willingly enter my house knowing my reputation.

"The Antisocial Freak" - That's what they call me.

So what, I collect dolls, figurines, games and manga? It's just my hobby. They tend to run away after I point a gun at them after they touch my limited edition games, It's their fault anyway.

Usually they'd be too scared to even come near my nest of dreams, my property. But those kids always seem to wriggle themselves in when I'm not paying attention. They want to get praised for mocking the neighbourhood freak or something?!

So I feel pretty comfortable keeping my secrets in my house.

I held the phone in my hand and it felt surprisingly heavy, but the most surprising part was the feeling.

The sensation it gave my entire body. It shocked me, however, it felt amazing.

It's aura ran up my arm into my spine, sending tingles the entire way down my back. My muscles felt stronger instantly and any fatigue had been cleared away! The bags under my eyes from watching anime all night had cleared and my bones didn't ache anymore!

The phone is miraculous!

As soon as I had realized my immediate benefits, I had instantly opened the phone. A female digital voice explained in a monotonic fashion "Welcome, new master. Please place a drop of your blood here."

The screen displayed exactly what she had said followed by a :/ face and a moderately sized circle in the bottom latter of the screen. A circle big enough to place my thumb in it.

I was startled and wasn't sure what shocked me more; A voice talking to me for the first time in years or an AI asking for my blood.

Obviously I did as it asked. Although, I was a bit scared to damage myself.

I took my favourite knife from the kitchen, Mr Hardleton. He's a large sharp knife who is secretly really friendly, behind his sharp edge and scary exterior.

With Mr Hardleton, I gently placed his scary edge against my thumb and pulled Mr Hardleton away, slicing my thumb enough for drops of red warm blood to ooze out. I held the phone in hand and pushed my thumb against it, while thinking aloud "I hope this phone doesn't get blood-damaged..."

"No, I do not get damaged by blood, water or any liquid." The phone had replied to me. My skin jumped. I wasn't used to being replied to, let alone by a female. Everything in my house is a Mr, and I care for them a lot.

The circle began to flash orange, then it shone a beautiful green. The phone had brought up a screen showing my personal stats;

-Name: Alexian Roovant

-Height:169cm

-Love life: Excluding Waifu's, No history...

-Weight: 73.2 Kg

-Birthdate: 23rd of September, 1997

-DEVIL COMPATIBILITY: 27.333333333333%

-ANGEL COMPATIBILITY: 27.333333333333%

I was shaken. The phone knew that much about me within a few seconds. "But what did the compatibility mean?" I murmured to myself.

"It means how well you and your body would get along with an angel or devil possession. And you have failed to meet standards." The phone had replied to me. Even through it's monotonic voice, I could tell that I made even an AI disappointed.

The phone had begun to blast off. A propulsion of flames had started from it's charger port and the phone had launched itself airborne.

"Hey wait!" I called out to it between panting breaths. It was the first time I had done any physical activity in a long time. "I still need you!!"

The phone showed no sign of stopping. The direction it was pointing is down the street, and I was following. After a few seconds, the phone came to a terrifying halt. The propulsion it was flying with halted and sent it plummeting down.

I was a few houses away when I saw it falling. I looked through sweaty strands of fringed hair to see the rough estimate of where the phone landed. After catching my breath for a few seconds, I mustered the energy to continue chasing the clues.

I arrived at a mall and the phone was surely somewhere here. I rushed inside, ignoring the annoyed grunts of the people I pushed past, and turned my head to the glass roof. 'No, wait. If the phone fell in here, it would have smashed the glass and caused injury and commotion. It's either on the roof or outside' I thought, keeping my mind to myself for once.

I rushed outside, where I found a forest and a road. I had decided to look further down the road, where I could actually walk and feel confident with myself.

Following the road, I only found a truck depot for restocking and exporting products and some large dumpsters.

I inspected the truck depot until I realized it was full of workers, then I made a "great escape". I tactically retreated as fast as I could until the workers weren't in sight.

Then I inspected the dumpsters, swishing through trash and discarded food but without luck. The only thing I got was a larger odour and a bigger need for this month's shower.

Disappointed, I refused to give up. I continued on the road until I found a small building on the side of the mall.

I peered through the window to find a man slacking on his job. I was truly disappointed that that person dared to sleep on the job. My idea was I can't slack on the job if I don't have a job, so automatically, I'm better than him.

I snuck in, as quiet as I could. I tried not to get irritated by his tumultuous snoring, or step on the littered chip wrappers on the floor. Honestly, this guy litters on someone else's property and slacks on the job, he's the worst.

At the end of the rubbish obstacle course, a metallic, yellow, worn out ladder had presented itself before me, so I took the logical course and went straight up it. It was fun until I realized I also had to go back down the same ladder, that's when the fear kicked into full throttle. I kept my eyes and head pointing up, and climbed without looking down. Slipped a couple of times but it was nothing life threatening.

So I had finally reached the top of the mall, and the views were tremendous. Outwards was a beautiful green landscape, with little villas and cement roads. Below was a bustling mall, packed to the brim with stalking customers, hiding in wait for the right price. But the best of all was the view of the mysterious smartphone lying face down in front of me.

I walked towards the smartphone cautiously. Who knew if it'd burn me with it's thrusters or something and I was crouching right in front of it before I had even noticed.

I flipped it over and was greeted by a blank black screen, not a talking phone or a blood stealing app. The phone looked normal, it is normal, but it has a secret and I have never been more interested.
