11 Volume 2 Chapter 1 - Cheers To The One Who Are Kind

It was the day of the funeral, there were few people who were gathered there wearing all black. Lydia stood next to her mom, she looked at the sky and saw that it was cloudy, the cold breeze blew through her hair. She heard few footsteps from behind. She saw Almer on his own and Lara with her family.

Lydia gave them a weak smile and turned her head around, both Almer and Lara went to her and one of them patted her back.

"I hope you are feeling better than befor-" Lara hit Almer's head indicating that he should not ask that question. Lydia stood there silently looking at them.

Few minutes later, it was time to put Lucas back to the earth. Lydia saw her dad dressed fancy in black suite in a box. They closed the box and started lowering it into the earth. The sight was too much for her to handle, she buried her face on her mother's shoulders.

After the funeral, Everyone assured Emma and went back home. Emma was with Annie (Lara's mom), Almer and Lara in the living room while Lydia was sitting alone in her room.

"Kids.... Can you go to Lydia?" Annie asked both Almer and Lara. They both agreed and were walking to Lydia's room. There was silence between them but Lara broke the silence with a question.

"So which one of us should talk to her first?"

"If I talk, I will make things even worse."

"Wait a second... I am always the one who talk to strangers!"

"That's because you are an extrovert."

"UGH! Fine, I will ask her first."

Lydia was sitting on top of her bed, with the green Ajax badge, Is being a secret crime fighter a good thing? Lydia asked herself this question many times. As soon as she heard the sound of the door knob, she hid the badge under the pillow.

"Oh hai..." Lydia said in a way to show that she is in a apathetic situation.

Lara and Almer looked at each other and then looked at Lydia.

"Well we have Choco chip cookies to brighten up your mood a little!" Almer said.

"Oh thanks...."

Both of them felt nervous, they really did not know what to tell to a person who lost their dear ones.

"If there is anything you need, ask us!" Lara assured Lydia.

"Sure..." Lydia replied.

They both left her and she closed her eyes and drifted into a deep sleep.

The next day, Emma left home early as now she had to be more serious in her work so the family can be stable again. Lydia woke up from her bed, not realizing that she is wearing the same dress that she wore on the funereal, went to the living room.

"Good morning Da-" She just realized...

"Right... he isn't here... how silly of me..." Her first day without Lucas was miserable. This situation kept on going for few days.

Lydia hasn't gone to school for days, let alone going to school, She hasn't been outside her house. Everyday she sat on the dining chair with her head down on the table.

She moved her head up and saw the calendar in which Saturday was marked as "Movie day"

"Oh yeah, today we three were supposed to go for a movie... anyway there is no point... mom has to work and there is no third person..." Lydia said to herself. As soon as kept her head down again, she heard the doorbell.

She went to the door and looked through the peephole and saw that it was Almer and Lara. She opened the door and asked "What is it?"

"We came here to cheer a friend!" Almer said as he had box of cookies in his hands.

"Guys I appreciate the gestu-"

"Girl! You gotta clean your house one day." Lara said as she went inside the house.

"I did not even allow you guys too-"

"If you want we will help you to clean!" Almer said as he also went inside the house.

Lydia stood there silently seeing her friends go around the house without her permission.

"I happy that you guys cam to cheer me, but there is no poin-"

"So you were supposed to go to a movie today with your family?" Lara asked as she was looking at the calendar which was marked.

"Well yeah, but there is no point in it..."

"Then why don't we three go?" Almer asked as he took the tickets and kept in his pocket.

"Wow Almer you are using your brain for the first time!"

"Geez, thanks Lara."

"But..."

"There is no but Lydia, you have been in your house for too long, I know that losing your dad is really painful... but do you think this is what your father wants?"

"No..." Lydia said as she was in deep thought. "He wants me to get over thing..."

"Then what are you waiting for? Go get changed! We are going to see a movie!" Almer said and Lydia agreed. She went to her room and got freshen up. She came out of her room and all three of them left.

They reached the theaters and got bunch of snacks like pop corn and drinks. They went and sat in their seats and started chatting with each other. Later the movie started and everyone was paying attention to it.

---LYDIA'S POINT OF VIEW---

I always took advantage of these two thinking that they are only there for me when they need me... I was completely wrong... I never knew how much I needed other people to help me out. I always did things on my own thinking that other people will only cause more trouble for me. Again, I was wrong... I am glad that I met these two... I don't know what to do without them...

Cheers to the ones who kind...
