8 Chapter 8 - An Abyss Thought

The sun was about to set in Toronto and Welmer High School just had a foreign attack by a Demon from another planet. "Demons"... are they even a real thing? was the question in everyone's head.

Everyone were still trying to recollect everything that just happened. There were many police officers in the school who were investigating the case, They tied the police tape around were the borders of the cage was.

"Damn... Our football ground is gone..." Almer said while he was resting lavishly on the steps.

"I don't really care about the football ground, but the fact that I never believed that Demons or magic exists, now it is making me believe that ghosts are real too." Lydia said.

"What If there are more things that we never knew actually existed?" Lara asked and the three of them went silent thinking about it.

"Well the world is a mysterious place." Lydia says as she sighs.

"Anyway Lydia, isn't your father supposed to be here? where is he?"

"I don't know, I guess he had some other case to take care of. By the way how is Kian?"

"He is okay, you obsessed lady." Almer said as he kept both his hands behind his head.

"I am not obsessed with him, anyway i will go check on him." Lydia says while she gets up from the steps.

"Ask him out!" Lara said while she was snickering at Lydia.

"HELL NO!" Lydia said as she was marching away from the group all flustered.

Lydia goes to the big Multi-Purpose-hall and sees that most of students were resting and they were waiting for their parents, Lydia takes a step inside the hall which smelled like Petrichor and looks in all direction in the big hall to find Kian, and then she spots him sitting on the ground and she walks up to him an crouches down to meet his eye.

"Oh hey Kian!"

"Hey Lydia."

"How are the wounds?"

"Thanks to that weird magic spell, I am completely normal now, but I am really exhausted."

"I see, by the way, you were really brave out there."

"Me? What about you? If it wasn't for you, I would have been dead by now, so thank you."

"Y-your welcome" Lydia said as her face grew red and she was twisting her hair with her fingers. In the corner of her eye she spotted something weird, she saw that Lara was holding a sign up which says 'ask him out' and Lydia felt really embarrassed and frustrated about it.

She is brave enough to do things but the fact about what other people think about her makes her feel less confident about herself. She took a deep breath and let it out.

"So Kian... I was wondering if..."

"ARE YOU LYDIA CARLSON?" a girl out of nowhere came and interrupted an important conversation.

"Well yep."

"You were really brave out there..."

"Ummm thank you..."

"Can I ask you something, personally?"

"Sure..." Lydia gets up and she gets dragged out of the room by the little girl, they went near the corner of the staircase and by now, the sun has already set.

"So what is it Kid?"

Out of nowhere the little girl got disappeared into a cloud and reappeared into a... man?

"HUH!?" Lydia was in complete shock.

"YOU-YOU-YOU ARE THAT OLD GUY FROM BEFORE WHO HAD WEIRD MAGICAL STUFF!!"

"First of all, I am not old and I am only 50, and second...yes"

Lydia was still in shock, everything is literally magic, something that nobody knew existed. "ummmmmm, WHAT THE HELL?"

"Can you just calm down already?"

"Oh yeah sure! That's easy for a person WHO KNEW THAT MAGIC EXISTED BEFORE!"

"Are you done?"

Lydia took a really deep breath and let it out and calmed herself, she looked at the old man and asked him "What do you want?"

"I want you to join The Ajax"

"Join the WHAT?"

-----------------------------------------------------

"Hold up, let me get this straight... You want me to join the magical people group?"

"You know it's actually getting annoying when you say 'Magical People Group' and yes I want you to join us."

"But.... I don't have any powers."

"I know that very well, you see, all of us in The Ajax were born with powers. But for a reason, you aren't. And I cannot tell you unless you are an Ajax."

"Well, I am sorry Mister, You see, I am actually a student and I really need to focus on my studies and I don't want to worry my parents too."

"I see, It's actually your decision, but if you ever change you mind, use this." The old man said while giving her a golden ball with a button on it.

"You have to press the button on it and throw it at a wall and it will open a portal the the Ajax Headquarters."

"I see... it won't come in handy....Anyway, I have to go." Lydia says as she keeps it in her bag pack.

The old man makes a portal and goes into it, while Lydia goes back to The-Multi-Purpose-Hall. Later that day around 7 pm, everyone left the school and Lydia went back home on her own, usually her father picks her up from school but it seemed like he was busy.

She opened her house door and saw her mom in the living room sitting in the sofa and crying.

"Mom...why are you crying?"

"Oh my gosh! Your are okay! I was so worried!" Emma cried as she ran to Lydia and hugged her tightly and Lydia hugged her back.

"Now that I am here, you don't need to cry anymore right?"

"Yeah.. I know" Emma said as she wiped her tears away "Why don't you freshen up darling?"

"Sure."

Lydia goes to her room and goes to the bathroom and freshens up. she comes back to the living room and sees her mom crying again.

"Mom... why are you still crying? I did come back right? I don't think there is a reaso-" Lydia got interrupted as she saw the reporter in the News speak.

"Sadly, Lucas Carlson, the head of the police department got killed by a kid whose name goes by 'Damien' today earlier in the afternoon who showed up in The Welmer High School. The police were on the way to the school but got stopped."

"Dad...."
