9 Chapa 2

"COCK - A - DOODLE - DOOO... COCK - A - DOODLE - DOOO..." a rooster could be heard in the distance, signaling the start of a new day. The sun rays coming through the windows permeate the room, shining on his face. The Fat Farmer opens his tightly closed eyes, squinting them together as he looks around for a minute. A tinge of loneliness could be seen contained in his eyes. He has been alone ever since coming to live in the countryside.

Removing the sheets from over himself, he got up and stretched his back, a lazy yawn scaping his mouth at that moment. As per his daily routine, he went to the back of the cabin and got washed before starting the day. He dressed up, put on his signature blue overalls that he wears every day for doing work around the farm.

After getting dressed he went to the chicken coop. The chickens were noisy and rattly as always. He went next to the wooden chicken coop where a miniature mill like steel structure was located. After grabbing a scoop hanging from the miniature mill, he opened a compartment on the mill. He put the scoop in hand through the opening. The scoop in hand was removed from the compartment and on it there was grain. He poured the grain into a bucket next to him and repeated the process another two times.

Grabbing the bucket, he walked back to the chicken coop. He went to a chicken feeder attached to the coop and emptied the contents of the bucket into it. The chickens went on a frenzy after the grain fell on the chicken feeder and rushed it to try and be the first there.

While the chickens were feasting on the grain, the Fat Farmer walked into the chicken coop and grabbed a few eggs from the nest the chickens made inside the coup. The eggs were big and had a nice lively brown color, unlike mass-produced eggs that are usually smaller and white.

After getting the eggs, he went to his small herb garden and picked a few spices. Even though the small countryside town had been on drought for the past few months the herbs looked extremely vibrant and lively. The fragrance emitted from them was one that would leave any person mesmerized and lost in thought. It was obvious that the person paid close care to this garden.

With the eggs and herbs in hand, he walked to a wooden shed next to the cabin. The shed was not big, it was rather small in width as if it could only fit one person at a time. After walking in front of the shed, he opened its door. When the door was opened, a thick smoky and meaty scent isolated his nostrils.

The shed was a smokehouse and different cuts of meats could be seen hanging from hooks inside it. He reached out with his hand grabbing a thick cut of bacon before closing the door to the smoker.

Walking back to the cabin, he went to the corner where the stove was located in. He set his ingredients on the table and got to work, preparing them. He cracked the eggs, pouring them into a bowl before commencing to whip them. After that, he minced herbs and spices. They released a strong earthy fragrance captivating the olfactory senses. He threw the minced herbs and spices into the bowl with the eggs and continued to whip.

After that, he poured the eggs into a pan for cooking. While the eggs were cooking, he started to work on the bacon. He sliced the thick bacon into thinner slices, took another pan and laid the bacon slices on it so they would start to cook.

Sometime later, the bacon started to sizzle and crisp in the pan. The eggs, on the other hand, were light and fluffy. He set a plate and started to empty the egg pan on the plate. After a minute, he did the same with the bacon. At first sight, even though simple looking, the plating pulled anyone in with just one look.

The fragrance released from the scrambled eggs and bacon was a one-two hit combo that would knock out even the most experienced boxer on the ring. He sat down and with a fork in hand, he dug into the plate laid in front of him. That first bite was a burst of flavor that assaulted his senses and threaten to rip his consciousness away. The fluffiness and sweetness of the eggs combined with the saltiness and crispiness of the bacon was a combination that would leave even a Michelin star chef craving for more. It was an impossible sensation that left one's soul and appetite wanting for more.

After finishing his breakfast, he cleaned the dishes and started to prepare before heading out. Today he had to fetch water from the river at the other side of the forest. Not knowing what dangers he could encounter on his way he needed to take a few things with him.

He grabbed some of the leftover smoked bacon and put it into a pouch. This way he would have something to eat while getting the water. He grabbed his trusty hoe, one never knows what animals are lurking in the depths of the forest.

With all preparations made, he started to head out.

"Today the sun seems to be even hotter than yesterday... Could this be what they call global warming?" he said while a hand on his forehead covered him from the rays of the sun as he looked into the horizon.

With a grin on his face, he started to walk in the direction of the forest...
