10 C9

Hadrian watched as Nancy Bobofit threw peanut butter-and-ketchup sandwiches on the heads of Percy Jackson and Grover Underwood. He had got this as an English teacher after hypnotizing the headmaster after the teacher before he took a vacation to the Bahamas, not that he had anything to do with such a coincidence.

At the bus, the other two teachers, Mr. Brunner - Chiron - and Mrs. Dodds - Alecto - weren't paying any attention to what was happening in the back of the bus. Hadrian got up from his seat and walked to where Nancy was seating. His left hand touched her shoulder, and when she looked up with a scowl he smiled, showing his fangs a little bit.

"Miss Bobofit, if I see you throwing food on your classmates again there will be consequences, understood?" Hadrian asked, and when Nancy ignored him he used a little bit more strength and his eyes turned blood-red for a second. "I said, understood?"

Nancy nodded, her face now white as paper. When Hadrian turned around, he smiled at the gobsmacked face Percy had and winked at Grover who was on the verge of a panic attack.

Hadrian had only been working at Yancy for two weeks, and in that time he had been very careful to not reveal his nature as a non-human being to his non-human companions. Now that things are finally going to get interesting, it didn't matter anymore.

They arrived at the museum and walked directly to the Greek section. Chiron was explaining different pieces when Percy got loud enough to interrupt the class, even though it was more of Nancy's fault.

This kid really has no luck.

"Mr. Jackson," Chiron said, "did you have a comment?"

It went similar to what Hadrian remembered from the books, with Percy answering the question and Chiron getting disappointed that he didn't know why greek myths were important in real life. Which was not really fair considering the kid had never interacted with the supernatural before.

The tour continued and it was time for lunch. Again Hadrian watched as Nancy got Percy in trouble by saying he had pushed her into water. Considering the scare he had given her earlier, Hadrian would bet the Fury had done something to make the girl antagonize the young half-blood.

This time he did nothing, as Percy's fight against Alecto was important. Besides, Hadrian wanted to confirm something. In the books the demi-god had won against both Alecto and the Minotaur with no training, going by instincts alone. So, now in the real world, how would this play out?

He followed Percy and Alecto, blending in the shadows with silent steps. As Hadrian integrated more and more with the memories that came with his body, his use of magic was getting more and more refined. At this point he didn't even need incantations for most effects, he just visualized what he wanted the magic to do, the steps that went into achieving the effect he wanted, and willed the mana into creating the phenomenon.

"We are not fools, Percy Jackson," Alecto said. "It was only a matter of time before we found you out. Confess, and you will suffer less pain."

Alecto's eyes began to glow, like barbecue coals. Her fingers stretched. Her jacket turned into large, leathery wings.

At that moment Chiron decided to show up and threw a pen to Percy, just that when the half-blood caught it want a pen any longer, but a bronze sword, Anaklusmos.

If this was the books, Alecto would lunge towards Percy with no care for the consequences and be slashed by the word, turning into a pile of sand.

Too bad, this wasn't the books.

As soon as she saw the sword, Alecto dodge to the side, landing before swiping her talons at Percy's face. The demi-god blocked with the sword but had to take a few steps back due to the strength behind the swipe.

Hadrian had to give it to Percy. Even with no training, the kid had talent. Demi-gods' battle instincts were something else. He watched as both opponents attacked and dodged, doing their best to finish the other.

He was impressed that the kid was going for the kill. Perhaps it was the panic of having his life at risk, or maybe his nature just realized that the monster in front of him didn't deserve any mercy.

Having observed what he wanted, Hadrian attacked.

Percy could only shout in surprise as his English teacher appeared between him and the monster, his hand piercing through her chest. With the other hand, Mr. Black took the sword out of his hand and decapitated the demonic bat Mrs. Dodds, where she, in turn, became a pile of sand.

"What was that?!" Percy shouted.

"That Mr. Jackson, was a Fury," Hadrian said. "However, we don't have the time for explanations right now. You should go find your friend Grover."

When Percy went to protest, his teacher was no longer there. He turned around and noticed he was alone going to find Grover.

He asked about Mrs. Dodds and received an unexpected answer.

"Who?"

Percy didn't press on with his inquire, but from time to time he would make a reference to Mrs. Dodds and noticed how Grover hesitated and then claimed that she didn't exist.

Percy knew he was lying. Something had happened in the museum, and he wanted answers.

Time passed, and the weather went from bad to worst. Percy had tried to find Mr. Black, but the day after the school trip it was announced that their old English teacher was back.

While studying for Latin, Percy heard the conversation between Mr. Brunner and Grover. Running back to his bed, he only had more questions.

Throughout that, Hadrian went on his way. After some work at getting the registries at Yancy, Hadrian found Sally Jackson's address. The books might not have said much about her relationship with Gabe, but Hadrian was taking no chances.
