17 Where is Earhart?

Holmes, Moriarty and Watson were all three onboard the USS Arizona.

" Do you really think that we will find her? " asked Watson.

Bell took a deep breath, and then said;

" Honestly, Watson, I don't know, but we have to at least try " said Holmes with a smile.

" Sir? "

" Yes, my boy? "

" Could you tell us again how her journey went? "

" Of course. Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan started their flight at Oakland, then to Hawaii, Howland Island, but due to some difficulties, they returned to Oakland, where they set off towards Miami, Venezuela, Brazil, Dakar(Senegal), Karachi(India), Dum-Dum near Calcutta, Bangkok, Singapore, Bandoeng, Surabaya, Lae(New Guinea) and then they vanished in the Pacific, but they were last seen at the Nukumanu Islands, where we are heading "

" Thank God that the Six-Star Maiden of Orleans allowed us to use the USS Arizona " said Watson.

" Yeah, she is quite the beauty, " said Bell.

" The ship or Joan? " asked Watson, but Holmes simply smiled.

A red plane now landed on the battleship, and out came Manfred von Richthofen and Otto Skorzeny.

" So gentlemen, what have you seen? " asked Bell.

" Sorry Mr Holmes, but we have flown all over the sea, and there is not even a plane crash " said Manfred.

" Not even we could see her with our four eyes " said Otto.

Everyone now noticed that Holmes had a look of, that he was now in deep thought.

He walked over to the edge of the ship, he then felt the wind on his face.

" Heureka! " exclaimed Bell. " We have gone about this the wrong way! my dear boy, tell the captain to set sail towards nearby Asia. For I know where Earhart is " said the Detective-Doctor proudly.

The USS Arizona was now near China.

All the planes took off once more, and this time, they came back with good news. Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan have been found, their plane crash landed at the Miao Room in China.

On the journey back home, with the good news, Watson asked;

" How did you do it? "

Holmes looked at Moriarty.

" The wind, " said Moriarty.

" The wind, my dear boy and Watson "

" But… how? " exclaimed Watson, confused.

" Earhart's last message, when they were near the Nukumanu Islands, was that they were running low on fuel, so I deduced that they must have used the strong wind of the Pacific to crash land on China. Amelia herself confirmed my theory, as to that was how things had happened " said Holmes, almost sounding proud of his work.

Watson just let out a sigh, as he said;

" I am telling Irene that you called Joan beautiful "

" No, wait- "
