1 Chapter 1

We both knew we would probably not get a happy ending, but we sure as a

Hell wouldn't go down without a fight.

"Tyson! There's a village about 2 kilometers ahead, we could probably get some new fabric for your binder and sell some pelts for a coin."

Fahren ran up to me with a smile, joyfully yelling. I nodded

"It has been getting a little loose, that's a good idea. Plus, I think I have a couple of copper left from the last town, we could stay the night in an inn for once."

Fahren smiled again, his dimples showing, and exclaimed

"We haven't stayed in a inn since three villages back, Dathk, right? It'll be nice sleeping on an actual mattress instead of the godforsaken ground!"

I giggled as Fahren threw his hands in the air and we continued walking North, which, according to the map we had picked up in Dathk, was in the direction of Tarbeth. It was a village quite close to the main kingdom and was considered a major trading center, so it was easy for travelers like me and my brother to go to and sell the knick-knacks we had picked up battling monsters and wandering around dungeons.

That's right, you heard me right, Fahren and I are what you commoners would call adventurers!

It's just as you would imagine, using swords and magic to fight against the evil demons trying to invade our kingdom! Though I'm not as good as my brother is using a bow and arrow, I'm mighty fine with a sword if I do say so myself. Especially since the only one to teach me was Fahren, and he never really liked close ranged combat.

The town we were heading to was quite a ways away from our home, and we had been planning on settling down here for a while to sell our goods, essentially taking the entire four years since we had left our old home to get here.

Fahren had been 15 when we left, and he just unlocked his magic, while I had been 13 and had yet to unlock any magical talent, but we helped in the hunts and guarding the village walls, which gave us some sort of experience dealing with monsters.

Magic usually responds with the users emotions, and moves as you move, so when fighting, my brothers magic used the wind and trees to hide his presence and move his arrow, while I was much more straightforward and sturdy, using the earth to my advantage and trapping my enemies in a corner before killing them with my long broad-sword.

Fahren and I walked past hills of grass and fields of wheat before the town was in sight.

"Tyson! Look! There are the outer sections of Tarbeth! I can already feel the rough sheets of a motel."

Fahren said sassily, we giggled and entered the town at last. It was marvelous.

Tall buildings colored bright colors, vendors shouting out how low their prices were and children running around with their friends, it was so vibrant and alive, I almost couldn't believe how different it was from everywhere else. Fahren walked ahead of me to ask one of the shopkeepers where the closest inn was while I looked around in awe at the people.

Their clothes were also much different then I was used to. Since my brother and I spent most of our teenage years fighting monsters and training, we had no idea of the current fashion and trends, so it was quite the surprise to see that the modest dresses women and young girls used to wear had been traded out for short pants and tops that didn't really cover anything.

Not to mention how the loose shirts and long pants men used to wear had changed to sandals, knee-length shorts and short-sleeved shirts. It was quite different than what me and my brother were wearing, mostly muted colors and cloth covering most of our skin.

How had so much changed within the four years we had been traveling?

I listened in to some girls giggling about some tea? What does that mean?

"Did you hear? Tayden and Kingsey broke up!"

"Oh wig! Does that mean he's up for grabs? I'll totally snatch that tall hunk of hormones, do you think he would go for me?"

The second girl did a little spin to show off all her features

"Omg, dude you would be lucky to even be friends with him, you whore!"

"Slut"

"Bitch"

"Opossum"

" Opossum?"

"Opossum."

......

That... was strange.

Fahren came back just as the girls were walking away with a map in hand.

"John over there was super nice and he gave me a map of the entire town for free! Also we're going to his sons birthday party in two weeks so we probably have to go buy a nice outfit to wear."

Fahren talked about the man who gave him the map just like they'd known each other for years as we started walking.

Yeah, this is my brothers 'Power', he can make any person he meets immediately trust him like a brother, and honestly it's quite terrifying. It's basically him using mind tricks and making people feel like they're special around him.

"Does, uh, John, know about me as well?"

I asked my brother, hoping it was a no

"Well of course he does, how could I not mention the little brother I've been traveling with for the past couple years?"

He responded, putting a fist over his head and letting out some crocodile tears. I blushed a little and in turn said

"Oh great, now I'm going to have to wear whatever the hell everyone else is wearing. Did you see how high everyone's shirts are? Like damn do y'all know how to have some decency?"

I waved my arms around the plaza where people of all shapes and sizes wandered, and puffed my cheeks out furiously.

"I thought it was just me... like it's kinda weird how different everything is, and it's only been what? Four years? Maybe our town was out of date or something."

Fahren replied back, nodding his head while scratching the back of his head in confusion.

As we talked, neither of us noticed two people in our way before we bumped right into them.

"Ouch! Sorry, sorry, we weren't paying attention to where we were walking!"

My brother immediately apologized while rubbing his nose.

Meanwhile, I was stuck inbetween two very soft things that felt suspiciously familiar...

Boobs!

While I was certainly excited about females, this was a little awkward and, you know, I literally have no idea who she was, so obviously I hurriedly pulled away from the girl blushing.

"I am so sorry! I didn't mean to you know uh run into you or your boo-- I mean ti-- I mean uhhnnn sorry!!!"

I heard a giggle off to my side from my brother but couldn't berate him in my... condition.

The girl giggled and I raised my head to see a busty brown haired girl with a sweet smile looking down at me. My blush became even more profuse and my brothers giggles became even louder, wheezing with every other breath.

I spun around and lifted my favorite finger in response to his snorts.

Fahren finally calmed himself down before looking at the person he ran into, and it was my turn to giggle. A tall man, probably around 6'4 (193 cm), with black hair and legs for days, was looking down at my brother, who was a whole head shorter.

His entire face became cherry red and he stuttered out a apology.

It was my turn to giggle.

The two strangers shared a look, one neither me or my brother could figure out, then looked back at us, a sly look in their eyes.

"It's okay, none of us were hurt, right?"

The girl said, looking briefly at my brother then at me. I could only nod dumbfounded.

"My name's Gina, and this is my bff Theo, we were going to get some ice cream, would you like to come with us? As an apology, of course..."

The girl, who we now know as Gina, continued, innocently twirling her hair.

What's a bff?

"Ah, I'm sorry but me and my brother actually were about to find somewhere to spend the night, and it's almost dusk, so..."

My brother trailer off, looking guilty at having to refuse their offer. The two people across from us looked disappointed,

"Ah, of course, you're probably in a hurry, you can get going, goodbye Fahren, Tyson, hopefully we'll see you around!"

Theo responded, grabbing Gina's hand and leading her in the opposite direction.

I blinked and looked at Fahren, who was as shocked as I was.

How did he know our names?
