1 Thanks for all your hard work

A young and new employee in the company was walking the long corridors, looking for a room in particular until after a few seconds of walking and reviewing room after room the young man managed to find the room he was looking for.

The young man stopped before entering and fixed his tie and checked his suit.

"All ready!" The young man said excitedly putting his hand on the doorknob.

[Sebastian's office]

The door opened slowly and the young man could see an older man sitting in a chair in front of a computer while he was reviewing several documents at the same time.

The older man seemed to be in his 60s, his hair was totally white and his eyes looked tired, despite being 60 years old Sebastian was in optimal physical shape.

"Sorry for the inconvenience Mr. Sebastian, I heard that today will be your last day in the office, is that true?" The young man spoke respectfully to the older man in his office.

The older man, Sebastian left the documents he had in his hands, leaving them on his desk at that moment and closed the screen of his laptop facing the young man's eyes.

"Yes, I'm sorry I expected to be able to work with all of you more time, but the company recommended that it would be good to retire now and rest the rest of my years." Sebastian said smiling and at the same time sounding a little discouraged.

"Do not sound so discouraged let's go to the meeting room Mr. Sebastian!" The young employee opened the door talking to Sebastian trying to avoid being discouraged by his retirement.

Sebastian got up from his chair and went to the door, leaving his office, leaving the young employee to close the door.

Sebastian stood waiting for the employee to come to his side and started talking to him on the way to the meeting room.

"How is your mother, young Lucas? I knew that her health improved after treatment." Sebastian told Lucas.

Lucas smiled and answered the question Sebastian had asked him.

"Her health has improved considerably and the doctor said she would be able to leave the hospital in two weeks." Lucas said.

Sebastian was happy that Lucas's mother would leave the hospital promptly.

"When she's about to leave, I'll go visit her." Sebastian said and noticed that around him there was no one present in any of the offices, suspecting that there would be a surprise awaiting him in the meeting room.

Sebastian decided not to mention anything, to avoid ruining the surprise.

Sebastian and Lucas kept walking until they reached the dining room, where all the employees jumped from every corner and table.

"Surprise!!!" All of Sebastian's roommates and colleagues shouted at the same time, surprising him, since he had expected everyone to shout in the meeting room and not in the building's dining room.

Sebastian put his hand on his chest and the other on Lucas's shoulder laughing.

"Hahaha, this time you all caught me off guard." Sebastian said smiling, being surrounded by his colleagues and employees.

"We knew you would notice on the way to the meeting room, so we decided to move forward." Lucas said smiling.

Another young employee with beautiful red hair approached a table with wheels to Sebastian and discovered a helmet of strange appearance.

"This is for you Mr. Sebastian, it's a gift from everyone in the office." The girl raised her helmet and handed it to Sebastian.

Sebastian received the helmet with both hands and smiled in confusion.

"It's very nice, but I'm afraid I do not know where to put this strange decoration." Sebastian said.

Some people in the office were surprised to find out that their boss did not know what a virtual reality helmet was.

Lucas decided to explain what the helmet was and its use.

"Mr. Sebastian, that's a virtual reality helmet, we hired a virtual reality capsule installer that I already put in your house which is on the outskirts of the city." Lucas explained what was the function of the helmet while Sebastian observed every little detail that this helmet had inside and outside.

"Three months ago a new virtual reality game called "Heart of the Oasis" came out. We thought it would be a good opportunity for you to play the game now that you are about to retire from your job." Lucas said handing him a golden card.

Sebastian took the golden letter and watched it carefully.

"That's a pass for the game, with that you can register in the game and you can create a character." Lucas explained the use of the golden card.

Sebastian was even more confused than before because he did not know it was a virtual reality game, but he had seen a few times from his home to the office several announcements of "Heart of the Oasis" so he knew what it was about the game, but decided to ask anyway.

"Excuse me young Lucas, I do not want to seem ignorant, but I do not know how these video games are or how they work." Sebastian said he was worried that he would not know how to make the game work.

"Oh, you just have to put on your helmet and once in the game you can play, I really do not know since I have not played that game even once." Lucas's explanation was terribly vague and simple and Sebastian was still as confused as before, but more or less Sebastian managed to understand something of what Lucas said.

One more person entered the office with a tablet of information in his hands and watched everyone surrounding Sebastian, so he decided not to interrupt anything, but Sebastian noticed the person who entered and decided to approach.

"Please excuse me for a moment, I have to discuss some issues." Sebastian said addressing the person who was standing there.

"The young Mark has returned to the office, how have you been a boy?" Sebastian said rejoicing to see Mark a former co-worker from the office who had left to look for a more lucrative job.

The young Mark smiled and gave Sebastian a hug.

"Heavens, old man, you do not age no matter how long it passes, right?" Mark told Sebastian noting that even though he had left 5 years ago, Sebastian had not changed anything in appearance.

"Hahaha, bad grass never dies mark, what are you doing boy, coming back to the office?" Sebastian asked feeling curious to see his old co-worker coming to his old place of work.

"I was coming to give you this, I'm in charge of installing your virtual reality capsule in your house, which is now ready to be used." Mark said handing him a table of installation information and a small instruction manual on how to create a character in the game.

"You only have to enter the capsule to put on your helmet and the rest will advance by itself, enjoy it old man, you need to live your life from today." Mark told Sebastian, also knowing that he had never played a video game in his life.

"It's time to leave, Mr. Sebastian it's time to leave, we will visit him from time to time in his house!" Lucas said out loud leaving the building with his other classmates for all.

"Please, wait a minute!" Sebastian shouted out loud, making everyone stop.

"Do not leave, I still did not thank you." Sebastian said that and all his co-workers returned inside the building and stood there waiting for his words.

"I want to thank all of you, for always being here, for your hard work and dedication...thank you very much to all of you who believed in me." Sebastian said those words while some of his office colleagues were happy and others sad to know that their boss, the person who had been with them for many years was about to leave.

"Thanks for your hard work." It was the last words before all of his ex-office colleagues left and departed in different ways.

The only one that was present was Sebastian who stayed with the helmet in his hands, watching him and remembering his whole life, remembering his days of school, university, his first day in the office, how he went up to being a boss and now finally retiring.

Sebastian walked through the office, room by room, remembering everything that had happened in those last 40 years where almost 100 employees had passed, marched, married and died.

Each memory was a more painful than another for him, but at the same time they brought unparalleled happiness, a happiness that perhaps he could never find again in the rest of his life.

The company that Sebastian had worked for the last 40 years had brought him a profit of 389 million dollars in addition to the retirement bonus, but this did not matter to him in the least.

Sebastian decided to leave the office as he slowly felt that he could start crying due to the fact that the company had been sold and that he would not find a new job because of his age.

"When I get home, I'll see that capsule and the new game." Sebastian was going to his car while reading the instruction manual of the game, its locations, creatures, characters, buildings and other fantastic things.

The creatures of the game "Heart of the Oasis" were of fantasy, Ogres, Goblins, Dragons, gigantic monsters. No doubt a game made with the intention of bringing an experience without equal to everyone who played it.

The manual also said that each NPC, (Non-Playable-Character) had a very advanced AI that made them almost human, both in behavior and in personalities.

The users who registered in the game, were called "Adventurers" who fought against such monsters with the mission to destroy the dark lord, an entity that constantly threatened the existence of every living being in the world of Heart of the Oasis.

"It looks very interesting without a doubt." Sebastian was surprised, due to the amount of detail that there was in the world, more than 50 different kingdoms, 500 different Biomes, an unlimited number of creatures of different species ranging from a small Goblin to an immense devourer of Worlds.

The game system also offered a system of marriage, having a family, getting a job, being a king or a killer of kings or becoming a god. The game offered endless possibilities to which to cling.

"The game system offers a unique system in which the helmet scans the body and recreates in an impeccable manner every small detail of the real life user." Sebastian read every page of the book including instructions on how to create a character.

Also, incredibly the system offered a system that allowed the translation of different people from around the world from a person who spoke Spanish to one who spoke Japanese, the system had the ability to make a person who spoke Spanish was able to speak English without need to learn it.

30 minutes of travel and reading afterwards.

Sebastian arrived at his house which was on the outskirts of the city, a rustic house surrounded by a wooden fence, a very simple house, like Sebastian himself.

"It's only 3 in the afternoon." Sebastian checked his watch which was in his pocket in his suit and under his car, his voice sounded discouraged since from that day he would have to slowly watch the hours pass by the clock.

Usually when going to the office at 6 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon so that his days passed very quickly so Sebastian never got bored, but from that day he thought that now everything would be slower and boring though. He did not know that due to the game he probably would not have enough time to enjoy it to the fullest.

Sebastian entered his house and unbuttoned his suit leaving it hanging on a rack in his room and observed the capsule that was in his room.

The capsule was just 3 meters long and 2 meters wide full of cables that came out from the bottom and some cables that had to be connected in the helmet Sebastian had in his hands.

Sebastian did not feel any kind of annoyance that they entered his house since he usually knew all the people who came to visit him so it was very doubtful that someone would try to steal something from him and more than a former employee of his.

Sebastian had decided to enter the game once but not before making sure that his house was closed, since as the manual said. "Once the user is connected to the game, he will not receive any kind of signal from outside." They were Sebastian's words.

"Now let's see this thing how it connects." Sebastian told himself checking cable wire by connecting them to the helmet.

15 minutes later.

Click

The helmet in Sebastian's hands lit up and the system started to work.

"It looks like it's ready ... well we're going there." Sebastian entered the capsule and reclined while placing his helmet while it is completely sealed.

"Sebastian" Sebastian did not want anything complicated, so he decided to simply say his own name.

[Sebastian has been successfully registered]

[Beginning Heart of the Oasis in 3...2...1]

Sebastian felt his conscience slowly fade away and opened his eyes again as he was on a boat which was heading towards a port and a voice spoke to him.

[Ship of new earth]

"Hey, Adventurers, we're almost ready to prepare! The new world awaits you!" A strange old man with long ears, a somewhat excessive beard and a long saber in his hand shouting towards the port his clothing looked like a pirate's.

On the strange island there was a huge crystal which floated and released an aura of green color in the air, on top of the sky there were also two suns and strange horses with wings flying which had people mounted on them.

"It seems that it is not long before we reach the land of Heart of the Oasis, I am excited." A young man dressed strangely spoke, carrying a dagger at his waist.

His name was highlighted in green so Sebastian could see that it was a user.

The ship had many people with green framed names, men and women, young and old.

"It seems I'm not the only one who plays this." Sebastian was surprised to see many people of different ages enter the game but what excited him most was seeing his own face in a puddle of water on the boat.

"It's exactly like in the real world." Sebastian told himself as he touched his face observing every little detail.

After a few minutes of the ship was still moving, it finally reached the port where it remained motionless.

"Unwind your things! Last stop The beginning of a new world! Good luck to all and may luck and good fortune accompany you!" The strange old man shouted with a cheerful and enthusiastic voice while waving his hat with one hand and his sword with the other.

Sebastian at that time made a greeting to the captain of the boat showing his respect, and he responded with a brief bow.

"Good luck in your trip captain and may fortune and good luck accompany you too!!" Sebastian said loudly from the harbor greeting the captain from his boat and a small notification appeared in his hand.

[150 experience has been obtained]

[Respect with capital Philip has increased by 25+]

[Respect for New Earth port increased by 25+]

Many other users observed strangely the interaction between the captain of the ship and the user who was in the port greeting him, it was so strange to see that interaction that a user took a picture of this strange behavior between user and NPC.

Sebastian turned and started to walk around checking out the maritime post and beyond this the small town and a name appeared in his hand at that moment.

[Town of the beginning of new Earth has been annotated to the map]

A small map appeared on Sebastian's right hand which disappeared a few moments later.

"How do I see things and the map?" Sebastian was quite confused since he did not know exactly how to see each function of the game until a small message appeared again.

[Weapon available]

[Old dagger of beginner adventurer]

The weapon and the clothing were common and simple so Sebastian did not care at all.

Sebastian for the moment began to explore the village of the beginnings and found a couple of silver coins on the ground, also the game also allowed to check the barrels, boxes and find items thrown in the streets.

"Good morning adventurer" the voice of a woman was heard and Sebastian observed on his right a woman in a trading post of weapons and armor.

"Good morning to you ma'am." Sebastian decided to remain respectful despite the fact that the young woman seemed to be a teenager at 20 years of age, the shopkeeper had a simple clothes and noticed that the young woman had a very prominent neckline, Her hair was dark as if it were the night itself.

"I think it would be better to have a job, instead of raising stolen and abandoned possessions in the streets, sir." The young shopkeeper said pointing her finger at the belt in Sebastian's hand.

"Stolen?" Said Sebastian noting that the leather belt had a strange red icon that indicated it was a stolen item, so he immediately decided to throw it away from him to avoid bringing himself into trouble.

"I think I have a couple of jobs available around here and nobody wants to help me ... what do you say, sir? Do you want to give me a hand?" The young shopkeeper held both hands on her counter and put her head on them asking that question to Sebastian.

Sebastian felt strange because in reality he would not know if the work could be done by a person of a mayor age, so he could not avoid asking.

"Excuse me, but I'm old, that will be a nuisance for you ma'am?" Sebastian could not help asking since he felt that his age would be a problem.

"Not at all, I just need you to help me with my work, age does not matter...what do you say, do you accept the work?" The young shopkeeper said still with her head on her hands.

Sebastian gave a bright smile and a small window appeared in his hand.

Sebastian accepted the assignment and began by cleaning the weapons and armor with a cloth and a strange extract of fish oil.

"As I understand it, fish oil can keep a gun blade shiny, so I usually use it to keep weapons and armor." Lily said although Sebastian felt some confusion of whether this was true or not but anyway he did not know the mechanics of the game, so he was unable to say whether this was true or not.

For Sebastian's second task, Lily showed Sebastian how to use water and a sharpening stone to keep the blade of a sword, this process took a long time but Sebastian continued to do it without minding, because There was nothing to do at home in real life other than sitting watching television.

For the last task of Sebastian, he had to accommodate the store and the merchandise giving it a new appearance, cleaner and fresher than before, the weapons were ordered by names and size which made it easy to choose them.

Sebastian smiled when he noticed that his attributes increased as well as his level and also of having received two pieces of equipment, although his happiness was much greater for having been able to do a job.

"I guess you're going hungry, you should go to the tavern, Miss Edna always has some other work available for someone willing to work." Lily told Sebastian pointing his hand at the building that had a beer-mug-like sign hanging in the doorway.

Sebastian said goodbye to Lily equipping the two new pieces of equipment and went to the tavern noticing how the sun was at the highest point of the sky indicating the noon.

Upon entering through the doors of the tavern Sebastian could see that almost all the tables were occupied by NPC and players with names highlighted in green so he felt a certain air of familiarity in that environment.

On the counter. Edna the attendant and owner of the tavern was busy serving full beer mugs and hot meals to visitors with a smile on her face.

"Welcome to the one horseshoe mare, please tell me what you want and I will serve it immediately!" Edna asked observing Sebastian.

"I want work." Sebastian answered the question of the owner of the tavern and she smiled again, serving a glass of water and a hot dish, making them appear out of nowhere.

"Please enjoy the food, when the bar empties you can go back and start work, enjoy the food, go out and come back later, that dish goes from part of the house!" Edna said smiling and explaining that Sebastian should come back later when the tavern was empty.

Sebastian's food was a piece of meat on average, with a salad very similar to salads in the real world but with a couple of very notable differences, a clear example was that the pepper on the meat was white as snow instead of a cream color like the pepper of the real world.

Strangely Sebastian did not feel the slightest discomfort when eating that food, his stomach felt full and the heat of his body increased, the water tasted very pure and clean, as if it were mineral water.

Before it was dark Sebastian decided to go out into the forest and try his luck fighting monsters despite not knowing how to function, to face them, but strangely Sebastian was stopped by a guard at the exit of the town at that time.

"I'm sorry, sir, I can not let you out until you have a week here, to get used to the new life, I'm not trying to keep you locked up, it's that the king knows that you adventurers are important for the business of the kingdom." The guard dressed completely in metal armor said explaining why he was preventing everyone from leaving until they had spent a week conditioning themselves to life in the town.

"If you want, I can show you the combat training and conditioning area on your map, so you can start your training immediately and be ready for when you want to leave, after seven days of course." the guard continued speaking and mentioning a place to train with weapons and prepare to fight the creatures outside the town.

Sebastian accented with his head and showed the guard his map, strangely the guard did not feel any kind of discomfort to see the virtual map that Sebastian had in his hand and this presciono an area which is framed with a light green X.

"Thank you very much sir, I will immediately start training." Sebastian said shaking the guard's hand and saying goodbye to him, heading to the training area.

[Experience gained +20]

[Respect with kingdom guards +10]

Other players observed strangely again Sebastian interacting with an NPC as if he were a real person so he was ignored after a few moments, but could not avoid receiving the attention of the creators of the game who were always watching the players and their behavior.

Sebastian arrived at the training area and upon entering Sebastian could observe rows of training dummies being beaten by other players with wooden swords.

"This is the training area?" Sebastian said observing that the training consisted only in hitting an immobile doll with a wooden sword so he felt it was not very practical.

On the other side of the training camp there was a person with a real sword sitting on a wooden bench eating an apple, this person noticed Sebastian in the entrance and noticed his face as if he was disappointed of what he was seeing so he felt that He should talk to that person to know their doubts.

Sebastian observed that the person from the other side of the field began to walk to where he was and when he was close enough he began to speak.

"Are you looking for something? Friend." The coach said sounding somewhat irritated.

"I'm a bit disappointed in what I see in reality, forgive me for being honest." Sebastian knew that it was totally absurd to train with a simple method of hitting a training dummy.

"Okay, you want a challenge? Then I challenge you, newbie! My name is Vex, coach Vex for you, I hope you know how to fight." Coach Vex pulled out his sword which was real and pointed it at Sebastian.

Sebastian at that moment felt as if his opinion had made someone unnecessarily enraged and tried to calm him down with words.

Vex immediately took a step forward carrying his sword with both hands directing it over Sebastian's head giving him only a second of reaction.

Sebastian instinctively turned to the side and the sword hit the ground causing a crack and a collapse in the ground, as if the sword weighed more than 200 kilograms and was dropped from the top of a building.

"Come on, rookie, show me what you can do!" Coach Vex launched attack after attack against Sebastian but this somehow managed to dodge them all, his body felt light as a feather and was as attentive as a cat chasing a mouse, but instead of a cat chasing a mouse, it was a Maniac trying to kill him with a sword.

Some players who were hitting the practice dummies stopped and observed the strange duel between an NPC and a player, although it looked more like a one-sided beating.

"Attack him, he's not going to get tired of attacking you and you can not dodge him all day long!" A player shouted at Sebastian telling him that the coach would not get tired of attacking, but he would tire of dodging.

Sebastian jumped back and put his hand behind his waist, but Vex noticed that strange movement so he changed position with his sword and instead of holding it up with both hands he left it low with one hand, totally changing his stay of combat.

Sebastian remained motionless in his place waiting for the next attack to have an opportunity to attack Vex.

Vex smiled and leapt forward with one hand on his sword and with the other free and again recreating his first movement but this time he did not notice that it would be different.

Sebastian instead of dodging the sword raised his dagger deflecting the sword and hit with his closed fist Vex's face causing it to fall to the ground releasing his sword due to the force of the impact.

Without giving him time to get up again Sebastian narrowed the distance between the two and put his knife in Vex's eye talking to him. "I guess I won." Sebastian said still holding his dagger almost touching Vex's eye.

Vex remained silent observed Sebastian in the eyes and let out a breath.

"You beat me, good duel, rookie." Vex said smiling watching how Sebastian's hand was in front of him offering to help him get up.

Vex felt no discomfort in aver lost the duel and took the hand of Sebastian getting up off the ground.

"Very good moves even though you're already old...who trained you? Sersibal? Lokeen?" Vex asked mentioning a couple of strange names that he had never heard but could guess that they were names of characters in the game.

"I do not know who those people are, excuse my ignorance, my name is Sebastian and I wanted to train, but I do not think it's very good training to hit a rag doll until I get tired." Sebastian told Vex mentioning his disapproval in hitting rag dolls to death.

"Yes, you are right, but the kingdom knows that the adventurers are capable of achieving, without even training, so this is enough to be able to warm them up." Vex responded and explained the reason for such training also mentioning that an adventurer was able to become strong without much effort, although this was not very true.

Usually an adventurer or player had to fight against stronger and more dangerous monsters in order to get levels, equipment and money to maintain that equipment, that was why an adventurer was continually growing in strength.

"Does it bother you, that I come here the following days to train with you?" Sebastian felt it was much better to train with Vex instead of a training doll so he decided to ask anyway.

Vex scratched his head showing a bit of disinterest in the proposal.

"As you like, if you feel that this will be enough, it's fine with me." Vex answered anyway without this bothering him too much.

Sebastian decided not to train anymore for the moment and began to explore even more the village which seemed to be small at first glance but was not and its shops were very varied, finally night fell and he could go to work at the tavern.

"Excuse me..." Sebastian entered the tavern and was able to observe the disaster that had remained after an obvious fight between drunks.

"Excuse me, I came to work." Sebastian looked in all directions to find the owner of the tavern.

When entering the place Sebastian could not avoid stepping on broken glasses and pieces of wood covered with blood until he found the owner of the tavern which was attending to a person who was very beaten.

Sebastian was concerned to see the person, but he knew that he was not a player but an NPC that had been attacked.

"what happened to him?" Sebastian approached Edna asking what had happened and see if it could be of help in anything.

"A monster, a goblin entered slipped between the guard and this man left the tavern at that time, luckily there were adventurers nearby who drove away the creature, but these were damaged in the same way." Edna explained by making a tourniquet on the man's arm trying to stop the bleeding.

"You're an adventurer, right? Please go and help kill that thing, I do not want to imagine what will happen when that thing reaches some poor innocent girl." Edna said asking Sebastian to help in the search and extermination of the Goblin.

Sebastian did not know what a goblin was capable of doing to a woman but he did not decide to take the risk of finding out so he ran to the door of the tavern with the intention of joining the search for the goblin.

"HEY!" Edna's voice was heard on the other side of the tavern and a bow flew up to Sebastian catching him before he touched the ground.

"Be sure to kill him." Edna said that and her eyes seemed completely empty like those of a person who did not care about anything else anymore.

Sebastian ran away realizing that he could not shoot the bow since he did not have any arrows in his inventory and also that he did not know how to use bows.

Running through the streets of the town Sebastian could see many players and guards npc reviewing every little place they found possibly looking for the infiltrated goblin.

Sebastian came to a dark passage that was between two houses and heard some heavy blows so he decided to stick to the wall and go slowly to the source of the sound until he managed to spot the goblin.

A strange and grotesque creature a meter high, green, bald, long and broken nails and possessing a macabre smile with pointed teeth and his strange yellow eyes made it look even more creepy.

Sebastian's heart began to beat very quickly and he could feel the adrenaline begin to run through his veins making everything more lucid so he decided to take advantage of those precious seconds and attack the goblin while he was distracted.

Sebastian left that alley and ran hitting the goblin in the face with the bow in his hand and stabbed him in the neck when he moved his head to be hit with the bow.

The goblin took Sebastian's arm and stuck his nails into his flesh beginning to hurt him, on the other Sebastian felt as if the damage was very real in his body, so he began to push the dagger deeper and deeper into the throat of the goblin until it stopped struggling with it and a quick movement Sebastian cut the throat of the goblin to withdraw his dagger.

The blood of the goblin felt very real, hot and scurrying in Sebastian's hands which made it go into panic while a few guards and players approached him in the distance.

Sebastian began to hyperventilate and disconnected from the game by reviewing the options of the game leaving the bow lying next to the body of the goblin.

[Real world 8:38 at night]

The capsule opened and Sebastian came out of the capsule, falling to the ground, taking off his helmet and leaning against the wall, watching his hands even hyperventilated.

"Uffff...ufffff.." Sebastian continued hyperventilation for a few moments until he lay on the floor and fainted.
