1 Harmless Job

"Why is this line sooooo long!" Leon yelled in the guild lobby.

The lady in front of Leon looked back at him in annoyance, just as she finished picking out her own job. As the lady walked towards the exit of the guildhall, she saw Leon's shabby beginners gear and smirked. In return, Leon gave the lady a sly grin and formed a heart with his hands as the lady walked away annoyed.

As Leon walked up, he could see a woman wearing a tight skirt behind a wooden oak desk. She wore her brunette hair in a bun with a small slim knife in a sheath holding the bun together. Her slim, toned muscles could be seen through her clothes with a hammer that was laid to the side next to her. The receptionist with a name tag that read "Lucia" sighed.

"I see you haven't changed at all Leon."

Still walking with a little sass in his step, Leon replied with a beaming smile.

"Why should I? I am already perfect. Y'know, some would call me the perfect example of a model adventurer."

Lucia rolled her eyes with a grin.

"Yeah, the beggars who swindle you might or perhaps when those silly friends of yours try to tease you. You should be more careful Leon, one day that self-proclaimed 'charming' personality is going to lead to your ass getting kicked. Anyways, you know the drill Leon, pass your Guild Card over."

Leon searched through his adventurer's pouch, shuffling around the various items ranging from food to medical supplies. He eventually found his guild card and passed it to Lucia.

Guild Card:

Full Name: Leon Leif Basileus

Gender: Male

Age: 15

Hair Color: Blonde

Official Tier: F

Class designated by Owner(changeable): Rogue

Race: Human

Registered Guild: The Chosen

Home Town: Verin

As Lucia started doing the procedure for the job application, Leon hunched himself over the list of jobs and proceeded to practically drool on them

"Oh my defeat a half succubus, act as a mercenary for a different kingdom, a subjugation of orcs, these sounds exciting! If only I was at least a C Tier, I could have taken on something as exciting and adventurous as those. Hell, even an E-tier job would be more exciting than the boring stuff I get."

Seeing Leon start to drool on the list, Lucia angrily shouted.

"Leon stop drooling all over the job list. I know you have a weird fetish or obsession with high-tier jobs, but do you know who has to clean your drool? I do. So stop acting like a fool!"

Leon looked a little bit hurt by Lucia's words, which was puzzling to Lucia as Leon usually was never sad or vulnerable to such actions. So Lucia looked closely at Leon, she immediately could tell why Leon might not be himself.

Even compared to other F tiers, Leon looked horrible. His usual golden, honey-colored hair looked like it hadn't seen a drop of water for months. The leather chest plate and leather leggings had cuts and tears everywhere. Even the cloth undershirt he had on was covered in dirt and to make it even worse it looks like the dagger left behind by his parents had a slight nick in its blade.

Lucia put her hand on Leon's shoulder.

"Seems like you are going through a rough time. I'm assuming this life of doing errands and finding lost pets isn't what you sought for in the adventurer life, is it, Leon?"

Leon looked down at the ground and frowned.

"It's just my parents always told me about the great and exciting adventures they had when I was growing up. All I wanted was to follow in their footsteps and have adventures of my own. Instead, I'm stuck looking for lost pets and delivering letters. It's just disheartening sometimes."

Lucia stopped over a job and brightly smiled.

"Here's something to cheer you up. I found you a pretty exciting job considering its F tier. You are to travel to the village of Xert. Apparently, some miners discovered a huge, hidden gate leading into the mountainside and the guild is assuming it is a monument. Although, the guild has no clue how big the Monument could be since it's located in a no monster zone next to Xert it has been marked safe for all tiers."

Leon looked interested, but knew with his luck it'll probably be just another random tunnel or passageway instead of a monument. He also knew the chance of it being exciting was close to none since Xert was a place where barely anyone lived due to the fact that they are no monsters and was in a remote place in the middle of nowhere.

Lucia saw Leon's hesitation and puffed her cheeks out and crossed her arms.

"Regardless of what you might say I'm going to sign you up, since your two friends, Max and Dan, are already signed up for the job as well. You are to rendezvous with the group within 4 weeks."

Leon was gonna try to talk his way out of it, but saw Lucia's posture and face and knew it was a lost cause. So he decided to tease Lucia and go for a low blow. As he started to walk out the door, he looked towards Lucia and gave spoke in a teasing voice.

"This is why you will be single forever Lucia. There's a reason why you haven't gone past a first date."

Leon saw Lucia turn red and she started to chase after him, armed with a huge hammer. Leon took off and with his impressive speed took his horse and started off on his journey to Xert. Lucia was out of breath at the entrance of the Chosen guildhall.

A huge man, standing at 2.3 meters (7'7ft) tall, appeared with his long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail and had a very small and thin beard. He put his hand on Lucia's shoulder and said.

(Authors note: He looks like Baziwood Peshmel from Overlord)

"He's as weird as his parents were."

Lucia turned to the man and said in a startled voice. "Guild master Erik, I didn't know you came back."

Erik said with a deep chuckle. "Well, I promised his parents to look after him, and of course, I have to see him off at the start of his adventures. I just hope he comes back safe."

Leon slowly disappeared out of sight of the Guild Hall, and his journey to Xert began.

Unknown to everyone, a three-faced goddess was walking by herself, roaming in a plane that most mortals like Leon or Erik didn't even know about. However, suddenly, her eyes shone, and light emitted from them like a flashlight illuminating the dark.

Her stoic face suddenly twisted and distorted as she saw every possible future.

"I-It can't be...it has potentially started...the end has potentially started...Ragnarok approaches..."
