70 Chapter 70: Final Exams (II)

"So don't die too fast, alright?"

As soon as Shido said that, Fumikage immediately made his decision.

"Grab her, Dark Shadow!!"

From behind him, his quirk immediately grabbed Tsuyu by her waist before flinging her towards the upper floors.

"Asui! Run!"

Shido just observed the situation and decided to see what Tsuyu would do in this situation.

Unexpectedly, she didn't decide to leave Fumikage alone. As soon as she reached the peak height she could reach, her tongue extended towards Fumikage and wrapped around him.

"Tokoyami!"

She managed to stick on the glass wall before tugging Fumikage towards her and swinging him upwards.

"Oh? Not bad." Clones 1 spoke.

"So they've chosen to flee..." Clone 2 asked.

"But it matters not." Clone 3 said.

"For we will crush them all the same." Clone 4 said.

"You guys sound like robots, you know? It's creepy." Shido heard the way they speak and felt weird. Even if these guys were him from another timeline, it still felt weird seeing them complete each other's sentence without any prior discussion.

"Tch...let's just get on with it." Clone 1 said.

Disappearing into the shadows, they quickly caught up with the two students who were taking turns to fling each other upwards.

"Yoshinon, it's time to freeze."

"You got it!"

Instantly, the whole room got covered in ice. The floor and the walls were all covered by a layer of slippery ice. Yoshinon didn't bother decreasing the temperature as their goal was to not let Tsuyu stick on any wall nor floor, removing any proper footing for them.

"Ah! I lost my footing!" Tsuyu instantly announced without hesitation and Fumikage, listening to her, immediately grabbed her and swung her back to a corridor before following her himself.

"Phew...thank you, Tokomiya."

"No problem. Let's start running before sensei gets to us."

However, just as Fumikage finished speaking, two clones suddenly appeared from the shadows and attempted to capture him.

He immediately escaped in the opposite direction, but as he was looking behind him, he had missed the other clone in front of him.

"!!"

Just as he was about to be captured into the shadows, Tsuyu's tongue immediately came into the rescue and whipped him away.

"Sorry! Dark shadow, go!!"

As he managed to get away from the other clones, dark shadow immediately attacked them, pushing and pulling them off the railings.

"Your quirk is indeed good in mid and long range, but you're weak against an opponent who gets within close range."

Behind him, a clone immediately appeared and by instinct, dark shadow immediately aimed to bite the clone. Unfortunately, the clone seemed to have predicted the outcome and dodged downwards. At the same time, the clone used the force he managed to gather and did a hundred eighty degree spin sweep kick that was parallel to the ground and aimed at Fumikage's feet.

The force behind the kick was nothing to be scoffed at, and Fumikage immediately felt the impact of the kick at his ankles, causing him to lose his balance and fall down.

Tsuyu wasn't just looking though, she immediately wrapped her tongue around Fumikage before he could reach the floor and pulled him away from the midst of the clones before using her tongue to clear the way.

"This is an announcement. The first team to pass is...Todoroki and Yaoyorozu!"

*****************

"Wow! Todoroki and Yaoyororu have already cleared the test." Fumikage exclaimed in surprise as he tried to get up, only to fall back to the ground in pain.

"Urgh...I think my ankles twisted from the kick...they weren't kidding when they said they were going to crush us." Fumikage groaned in pain while attempting to balance on his healthy leg.

"Stop complaining and help me clear his clones. His clones aren't very strong in range since they don't have any weapons like the guns he showed before."

Observing each clone carefully, Tsuyu spotted something. None of the clones carried any weapon or any puppets.

"They can't use their ice!"

"Good." That was all Fumikage needed to hear.

He immediately limped towards the opposite direction of where the clones were while dark shadow quickly grabbed onto Tsuyu and pulled her towards him.

Without the danger of being frozen immediately, he could safely carry out his plan. Since only one person was needed to be outside in order to pass the test, he was planning to sacrifice himself.

As Tsuyu was running away from the clones while dragging Fumikage along with her, she turned towards the entrance and saw Shido just standing there.

"Tokoyami, I saw it. The goal and...is the real body, most likely."

Shido, who was just standing in front of the entrance and casually talking with Yoshinon, suddenly saw the two students running along the second floor.

"Good job on clearing the way here. My clones don't have many weapons except for their legs, so it might be easier for you guys. However, the real challenge only truly begins...now."

As the puppet on Shido's left hand grew bigger and bigger until it reached half the height of the entire building, though shocked, the duo didn't let it stop them and continued running towards the entrance.

"No, no~ You shouldn't go past this line." Behind the giant rabbit with a button as his left eye, Shido said and immediately after, a wall of ice separated the entire building into two - the entrance on one side and the rest of the other side.

"That's bad news...." Tsuyu uttered as she rapidly thought of a plan to counter that.

But how was she supposed to counter a giant rabbit with ice powers while breaking through the ten centimetre thick wall at the same time without being devoured?

"Tokoyami, do you have any plans? We can't run away forever..."

But Fumikage wasn't paying attention to her. He was looking at the ceiling together with his quirk.

"Asui, you think you can reach the ceiling? It's made up of glass, so it should be easier to shatter compared to the huge glacial."

"Just barely!"

"Good. Now let's start the plan."

"Huh?" Tsuyu was initially confused but after seeing Fumikage's hand signals and various pointing, she finally understood.

"This is an announcement. The second team to pass is...Midoriya and Katsuki!"

*****************

"Oh? Was All Might holding back? I think he should have been caught off guard by Midoriya since he's the only one whose strength would be able to remotely disturb All Might." Shido wondered.

'First Eraserhead, then All Might. Well, better make sure I'm not the third...'

Shido observed them going towards the ceiling and frowned a little.

'Were they aiming for the glass?'

"Yoshinon, freeze the glass ceiling as well!"

Yoshinon just roared and the ceiling froze. However, it did not stop there. Mist were starting to form, fogging the environment.

Shido wondered if Tsuyu would be buffed in this 'watery' environment, but shrugged and didn't think too much. The volume of water present wasn't much either way, so it won't help her much.

"Midoriya and Katsuki managed to get past All Might?!"

Tsuyu and Fumikage looked at each other in surprise, before it turned to a look of determination.

They weren't going to lose against Phantom and fail this test.

"Dark shadow! Destroy the ice on the ceiling!" Fumikage immediately ordered the moment ice started to form.

"Wait! NO!" Tsuyu instantly shouted but it was too late. Dark shadow had already destroyed the ice.

However, it wasn't that she was worried about. She looked towards the numerous sharp icicles formed on the ceiling, but due to Fumikage's attack, all the icicles were currently falling on them.

And as if that wasn't enough, she tried to grab on to the icicle to try and propel herself up only to realise that it was too cold. Her tongue was really sensitive and the instant her tongue came into contact with the icicle, it got stuck to it and turned a little blue.

"Be careful of frost bites!"

Tsuyu could hear her sensei's voice from the giant rabbit but she didn't reply. As the icicle continued making it's way down, Fumikage suddenly swooped in and grabbed her while dark shadow went on to destroy the icicle into pieces, freeing her tongue in the process, before grabbing onto the second floor's railing and bringing them back to safety.

"Hah...all of our previous...hah...plans have failed, what...hah...should we do now?" Fumikage asked as he panted for his breath.

Tsuyu paused for a while before replying,"We don't have much mobility now, so our only choice are the cuffs."

"And how are we supposed to do that?"

"Ten more minutes left! Are you guys ready to give up?"

Shido was very patient. After all, all he needed to do was guard at the door for thirty minutes.

Hearing no replies, he decided,"Yoshinon, trap them in cages so that they don't have any funny ideas."

Just as Yoshinon was about to agree, two figures suddenly appeared from the air and tried to dash towards him. However, Yoshinon's reaction was faster and instantly froze their entire body except for their heads.

"Urgh...what a powerful quirk!"

"Hey, I'm powerful too." Dark shadow complained to it's master.

Ignoring his quirk's claims, he ordered,"Dark shadow...go and pass through the gate yourself!"

"Sure thing!"

Dark shadow rushed towards Shido who just casually kicked him away.

"Hey, such a straightforward and direct attack obviously wouldn't work on me..." Shido remarked as he kept a close look on those two.

However, the dark shadow didn't seem to care and continued rushing towards him over and over and over again. Each time the dark shadow was kicked back towards its owner, it came rebounding back the next moment.

"Less than ten minutes remaining...can you keep this up? What I'm looking for...are heroes who rise up and break through in the face of adversity."

"Oh, don't worry. We'll be fine." Tsuyu uttered confidently.

"Huh?"

Shido was confused and narrowed his eyes. Her confidence didn't sound forced, and she seemed convinced that she would win.

"Because Tokoyami and Dark shadow...are strong."

"HIYAHHH!!"

Once again, dark shadow came rushing towards Shido and like the previous times, Shido didn't hesitate to kick it away, only this time, something else happened.

"Huh?" Shido looked down on his leg and smiled.

"Seems like I have really looked down on you. Though I previously said that we'll be doing our best to crush you students, it seems that I have not followed what I myself have preached. Congratulations."

"Asui and Tokoyami have passed the exam!"

*****************

"But that being said, both of you are injured. Asui, you better get that tongue of yours checked, it's already turning black from the cold." Shido melted all the ice in the building and said to Tsuyu.

Turning towards Fumikage, he said,"As for you, your ankle is twisted from my kick. It's nothing serious for now, but if you don't get it fixed soon, it might be a permanent thing."

And looking at both of them together, he pulled them to a hug,"Good job both of you. Though it's very unexpected, both of you exceeded my expectations. I honestly thought my clones and ice were enough to pull you down."

The duo were surprised at the sudden hug but didn't back off. Tsuyu even took the opportunity to caress Shido's head. Not everybody had managed to get close to Shido when he was in his green rabbit raincoat.

"Cute~" Tsuyu stated as she rubbed his head. Her face broke into a smile, though it didn't hide the fatigue she accumulated.

"Thank you, sensei."

Staying in that position for a while, Shido pulled back.

"All right, that's enough of petting on my head. Now, off to the infirmary you go."

"Hahahaha, All Might! You got beaten!" Shido laughed at the dishevelled face of All Might. His face was filled with dirt and dust, and there was even a red mark on his right cheek. "Did Midoriya manage to land a punch on your face?"

All Might was speechless at Shido's laughter but still answered,"Yes, Midoriya has improved a lot more than I can imagine. Besides, didn't you get beaten as well?"

"Well, I got beaten because I lacked wisdom. You got beaten in a confrontation...hahahaha." Shido snickered and didn't mind his loss. He truly didn't expect that dark shadow would carry along cuffs that Tsuyu had swallowed before.

Even if he was intelligent, he only woke up five years ago. Wisdom comes with age, so it couldn't be helped that he lacked a little wisdom.

As Shido and the other defeated teachers (Shota and All Might) conversed with each other, time slowly trickled by.

Soon, time was up.

Some managed to pass, while others didn't.

Some managed to grow, while others couldn't push past their limits.

That...was the bittersweet ending to the practical portion of the Final Exams.

A/N: Hm...I just read finish the last chapter of MHA, and I've gotta say...that ending sucks.

I'm writing my 130th chapter, and it's almost ending the mha volume...so look forward to that.

I don't mind if you give me one star reviews as long as you actually give valid criticism that isn't bias to your opinions. Like if you give one and a half star and type in random, how the fk am I suppose to know what you hate about it?

If you give three stars and then you type in one word 'boring', how am I suppose to know what is boring about this? If you don't like Eri as love interest and give four stars, fine...that's valid.

If you don't like Eri as love interest and give one star...I applaud you. You would ignore everything else and just focus on that one part that you don't like. To those who just do that, please don't make reviews for anyone anymore...

Sorry for the rant, it's just annoying when people do that.
