22 Wolgur Pack

It slowly approached him, analyzing him but it was still around 50 meters away, in his condition, even if he were to put all his points into agility, he wasn't getting away. And besides, even if he wanted to get away.

Asper looked to the right, and the left where the broken down buildings were before looking behind. He could see glowing red eyes and hear the growls as they approached.

He was surrounded.

"Ah… Fuck. The explosion ended up drawing too much attention, I'm surrounded.

They all seemed to belong to the same species, so most likely the one ahead of him was the boss. There was no guarantee, that killing the boss would save him either.

'Just when I thought I was lucky to survive, this shit happens. Is someone cursing me? Does someone want me dead? What's with all this misfortune?' Asper wondered as he placed the orb into his pouch and grabbed onto the taser.

Without wasting any time, he placed the taser on his left arm before turning it on.

Pain. Even with pain nullification still enabled, he could feel the electricity coursing through his body and numbing his arm.

'Endure it, endure it, endure it-'

Asper's thought was interrupted as the monster suddenly made it's first move.

*Clack* *Prattle*

Even in that sorry state of pain, Asper could tell what that sound was.

The machine gun, it was getting ready to open fire.

'What's taking this so long…?'

"GAAAH!" Asper yelled out in pain.

*Click*

'Shi-'

*Krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*

Asper's thoughts were interrupted as the sound of a machine gun along with countless bullets were fired.

*Krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*

The corpse of the roller along with the path which it stood on was riddled with holes. Howls could be heard as the monsters charged at the corpse from behind.

Despite that, the machine gun didn't stop firing, instead it diverted it's aim from the corpse of the roller slightly towards the right as it tracked Asper's movements.

It eventually stopped however as Asper who it was trying to shoot down had gone inside of a building.

"That was close…" Muttered Asper as he crouched down against the wall while panting.

Right before the monster fired, he was able to adapt and gain a speed boost. Following that, he ran as fast as he could with all his strength to take cover inside of the building beside him.

*Grrrrr* *Grrr*

The sounds of multiple growls could be heard coming from ahead of Asper who remained leaned against the wall, trying to catch his breath.

Asper looked ahead of himself only to see a pack of four of those monsters. A wolf and pit bull mutation. The only difference from this one and the one outside is that this one was significantly smaller and didn't carry machine guns.

Despite that, Asper knew that each one of them could chew out his ass and just as dangerous.

'Now that I have a speed boost, even with my injuries I should be able to get past them and hide but…'

"With all this exp ahead of me… How could I possibly run…?" Said Asper as he grinned nervously

Asper grabbed the pistol on his holster before quickly turning the safety switch and looking ahead. The knife was on his left hand and the pistol was on his right.

Each wasted second gave the other packs more time to approach him, so without wasting any time, Asper pushed off the ground and dashed straight towards the nearest monster. Simultaneously, two of the monsters in the pack lunged at him.

*Bang*

Asper fired the pistol with his sights on the closest monster's head as he leapt to the side mid-sprint by pushing off with his left leg.

Blood splattered across the floor, as the monster dropped to the floor. The one next to it, quickly diverted it's leap and leapt at Asper, who had just finished his side-roll.

'It's quick-' Asper thought to himself before leaping back, barely avoiding it's bite.

*Bang* *Bang*

Asper shot off another two mid-leap but the monster avoided both by leaping from side to side. It had learned from the previous example.

Asper's eyes widened as he then noticed, the one which he shot slowly get up and the other two behind it, split up from the one ahead of him. One walked off to the left and the other to the right.

'They're intelligent…' Asper thought to himself.

He was backed up against the wall, with nowhere to run. They cut off his path, slowly approaching him as they did so.

He could feel electricity flowing through his body thanks to the effects of the speed boost.

<Fire-arm efficiency temporarily increased>

<25% Accuracy boost temporarily gained>

Asper looked over at the electric sparks going off around his hand as he felt the surge of power flow through his body. It gave him even more faith in his abilities.

In that instant, the monster which had dodged his bullets, leapt from side to side before lunging towards him.

Rather than avoiding, Asper responded to this, by leaping charging straight at it.

He gripped tightly onto his knife and right before it's teeth came into contact with him, he ducked and pushed off with his leg, allowing him to pass beneath it as he did so.

In that one split moment, beneath it, with his hand on the knife and the momentum, he pierced it's stomach and dragged the knife across as he passed through.

The monster groaned out in pain as Asper slid across the floor on his back.

'A notification? Wait, I didn't get a notification for the other one that I shot which was behind it-'

Suddenly, just as he was about to get up, he could see a large mouth filled with teeth, making it's way right at him.

There was blood on the monster's face, it was the first one which he had shot and thought he killed.

'It hadn't died-'

Asper rolled to the left, barely avoiding the monster's bite as he did so. In that instant, he quickly pointed his pistol at the monster's already wounded face before pulling down on the trigger.

*Bang* *Bang*

*Thud*

Asper felt reassured as he got the notification and watched the monster finally drop for good. Had he not gotten one, he would have shot again just to be sure.

He got up before looking at the other two monsters, they had already made their move and were charging at him together. One from each side.

The grin widened on Asper's face, as he gripped tightly at the weapons on his hands.

*Bang* *Bang*
