31 Unexpected Discovery / Conducting Experiments.

During the past week, ever since the incident where he was forced to kill the Hunters, Asper spent all day training in the ruins.

The reason being he had realized how weak he truly was. Even with the system, he ended up nearly dying thrice due to his irrational decisions, his lack of experience and his childishness. Asper wanted to fight powerful monsters so he could level up quickly and getting stronger faster because of that, he failed to realize just how dangerous such monsters were.

Luck, it was purely due to luck that he had survived that day. Luck wasn't something he could afford to keep relying on.

Because of that, he limited himself to hunting only on the outskirts of the city and avoiding battle with hunters as to not draw attention to himself.

Day after day, he would stay in the outskirts and shoot any decent looking monsters down. Of course, there'd occasionally be powerful ones but he'd avoid them.

The amount of exp he was making per kill ranged from 300-600. It was nothing compared to the amount of exp He had gained from killing the hunters from the other day.

Despite all being said, any amount no matter how little was progress. Asper was slowly making progress and getting stronger.

So one might ask, how did things end up this way?

*ZZZZTTTT*

"GAAAARGH!*

Asper bit into his cushion as he let out groans filled with pain. He had shut himself inside of his room as he set the voltage of the taser to it's highest caliber.

Around 10 hours had passed since Asper had started this painful process. To see what brought this on and why he's doing this, we'll have to go back.

Asper took in a deep breath before slowly letting it out.

'Target… Locked.'

With his finger on the trigger and the red dot of the attachment to his glock pointed at the head of the monster, he gave a quick glance around to the other monsters around it.

There were only three others. This species of monsters seemed to like traveling in a pack. Asper knew this as it wasn't his first time hunting them. They had the appearance of mosquito's but were much larger. Their specialty was flying around and sucking the blood dry out of their prey just like a mosquito.

The system referred to them as-

*Bang!*

<You have slain a dryer>

Asper's aim diverted from the dryer which he had shot to the one which had been hovering beside it, before quickly pulling the trigger again.

*Bang!*

<You have slain a dryer>

'Two mosquito's down. Two left.'

But Asper just referred to them as mosquito's.

*Bang!*

Asper had shifted his aim towards the third mosquito. But it had managed to avoid his bullet in time once it caught on to his presence.

In that moment, it quickly flew straight at him.

"Tch."

Asper clicked his tongue before rushing down the building stairs. They were around two hundred meters away but he had no time to waste.

They were weak and lacked durability, but were considered very dangerous. The reason being-

*BZZZT*

Asper leapt back, barely avoiding the dryer as it flew straight into the building through the window. Shattering the little amount of remaining glass.

They were extremely fast.

*BZZZT*

To make things worse, there were two of them.

*BZZZZZT*

"Night after night… Do you know how many times I've missed my shift because of you guys…?" He asked with a smile as he pulled out his second glock.

Asper didn't hold a spec of fear for them the reason for it was simple. Hate. Asper hated mosquito's with a passion.

Hunting them was not only an opportunity to cash out as their orbs and wings fetched a nice price, but it also served as a relief for him. Not to mention, they gave a good amount of exp on kill.

The two mosquito's which had stood back to inspect Asper before they launched an attack were aggravated by his attitude and suddenly attacked, charging straight at him.

But that was just what he wanted.

They were fast and had dynamic movements, but as long as he could see it.

While standing in the exact same spot, Asper watched as they closed the gap in between him and them in a split second. That's when he pressed it-

*Clunk*

Asper pressed the button on a switch which he had held on his hand, causing electric wires in the shape of a web to come dropping down from the ceiling.

*ZZZZZZZT!*

The electric wire landed right on the mosquito which had been in the lead during the charge, trapping it and electrocuting the hell out of it.

Black smoke could be seen coming out of it's body as it tried to squirm it's way out to no avail.

On the other hand, the mosquito which had been behind on the charge, was able to avoid the wire and temporarily alter it's course with it's dynamic movement before charging again at Asper.

*Bang!*

That one moment which it altered it's course was all it took for Asper to get his aim locked on it.

<You have slain a dryer>

<You have slain a dryer>

"No level up…?" Asper asked as he let out a sigh.

Right after receiving the notification, Asper instantly felt a lump of weight lift off his shoulder.

<Cool down on pain nullification has ended!>

'?'

Suddenly, he felt a surge of pain pass through his leg from the injury he had gotten a week ago. It had closed off before but it was suddenly hurting again.

"GARGH!!" He groaned out in pain.

'Why does it suddenly hurt so much!?' Asper questioned.

That was when it happened.

<Temporarily adapted to pain>

<Conditions met>

<Due to adaptation conditions being met, new skilled <Pain-resistance> Has been added>

Asper's eyes widened after the screen popped up in front of him.

Asper's eyebrow twitched once he saw this. Before he even realized it, he was smiling uncontrollably.

A series of questions began to arrive in his head. To what limits of skills could he learn? What was the level limit of these skills, would they stay at level one? And the most important question, what brought over this process? What exactly needed to happen? What conditions needed to be met?

Asper tried asking the system, but it's only reply was.

<Error, due to a lack of information, unable to formulate answer.>

"Guess the only thing I can do now is… Test it." Asper muttered with an excited look.

***

That brings us back, to now. Asper is conducting his experiment.

"GAAAAAH!"
