5 Unavoidable Death

But it also wasn't uncommon for Hunter's to steal things from other weaker hunters, and this young man wasn't even a hunter himself, so showing that he had even an ounce of treasure, was already enough of a reason for it to get stolen.

He looked over at the pouch before grabbing it, and tying it as tight as he could next to his own. He then grabbed the Type-E Level one knife and unsheathed it before pushing the button on the side.

A layer of light was formed above the steel blade of the knife. The handle felt a little big on the young man's hands, but it was manageable.

He walked over to a broken piece of the wall which laid on the floor, before swinging the knife diagonally at it.

*ZWOOM!*

In a single motion, It was cut, perfectly. Upon seeing this, a grin was formed on his face.

'I'd like to spend the night here, but it's too dangerous. Far safer to try and get back… The city is at most three kilometers away… Judging how I jogged for nearly over twenty minutes.' He thought to himself as he placed the two energy mags in his pocket.

Depending on the type, energy mags can go from around 20 Nova to over a hundred. And even if he didn't sell them, it was always good to have some to spare.

"Guess it's time I get going…" He muttered after he hid the sheathed blade on his leg.

Luckily for him, the leather sheathe was designed to be tied around the hunter's arm, but was somehow tight enough to fit the young man's leg.

With the sheathe, pouch and ammunition ready. He decided it would be best to leave for now. Nothing else the guy had would be able to help him.

"Thanks." Said the young man before walking out of the room through the door he had entered.

That being said, the room had been cut cleanly in half. Now it didn't look too out of place in comparison to the other broken buildings around. What the young man wanted to know though, was what happened to the roof.

'Thank god it didn't fall and crush me to death.' He thought to himself as he began walked down the stairs.

From the top stairs, he could see the bottom and the room. There was a dead body and something which was probably a dead body before it was mauled on.

And again, no monsters could be seen. The young man was tempted to run and loot the bodies, but something felt off.

'There's no way this place wouldn't be infested by monster's after what happened… Unless the angel tear has some sort of property where it attracts and then repels them? Not much information is known on it…'

Regardless of the cause, it was suspicious. But He couldn't sit still and do nothing, he had to get out of there.

'Yeah, I'm not coming back here.'

It was a shame, but he had to get the rifle go. Besides, it's not like the rifle would work well with him either way. It's only a shame he had two small pockets, which could barely fit ammunition the size of his hand.

As he walked down the stairs and got closer to the corpse. He noticed something odd about the second corpse the one that didn't look at all like a corpse.

It's body was trembling in a weird way.

After getting a closer look, his eyes widened.

'That's not a normal corpse-'

Suddenly, like a scene from a horror movie. The broken corpse, regrew it's limbs and began crawling at fast speeds straight at him.

'OH SHIT!'

The moment he turned to run up the stairs, he heard a growl. It was coming from one of the dark corners of the wall downstairs.

Before he had even realized it. A big, dark wolf had leapt out of the corner lunging itself at the moving corpse.

Without looking back, he quickly ran up the stairs, before running down the small hall as quietly as he could and going back into the room.

'Damn it, damn it, damn it, DAMN IT!'

"I'm trapped…" He muttered.

It wasn't completely empty of monster's. There was one and probably more hiding about. If that corpse didn't resuscitate itself and start moving, he would have been on the receiving end.

He quickly went over to the rifle and ammunition before grabbing onto it, and making his way over to the wall opposite to the door. Once he was there, he leaned on it, and pointed the rifle straight at the doorway. His hands trembled as he tried to attach the ammunition, but that didn't stop him.

*Clink*

With a single clink it was attached. And in that instant, it powered up.

"T-The gun that nearly killed me will end up saving me… How ironic." He muttered as he kept it pointed at the doorway.

His aim was completely unstable due to the fear. He had just experienced the feeling of dying, and it wasn't something he'd want to relive. Not even for the world.

'Is this it…? Is this really all my resolve amounts to?' He asked himself

"I nearly die once… And that it's? That's all it takes, for you to start acting up?" He asked he looked at his hand

A grin was then formed on his face as he muttered "Don't make me laugh… after talking so much shit… Haha… Hahahaha…"

As he continued to laugh, the young man got up before making his way over to the door. He grabbed of the cubes, still unsure of whether or not they were truly stun grenade cubes.

*Awooo!*

A long and loud howl resounded through the room beneath him, vibrating the entire room which he stood on.

"I'm dead either way, so…" The grin remained on the young man's face as he began walking down the corridor. "Might as well make a gamble…"
