Chapter 2

The clinic is like every other clinic tments she can take part in, but besides that there's not much they can do for a hole in someone's heart.

There was one new thing about this clinic. Evelyn would be staying here weather or not she chose to take part in the treatments. It's basically a children's clinic for kids with deadly diseases.

The rest of the day she had was pretty uneventful. She ate lunch in the cafeteria with her mom. After lunch Evelyn's mom left her in the clinic alone. She told Evelyn that she would visit every day and they'd have lunch together every day.

Evelyn knew her mom just wanted to find a place to settle down and this clinic is a way for that to happen. They can watch over her so that her mom can get a steady job and make a life for herself. She would no longer have to constantly monitor Evelyn's health and she could see Evelyn whenever she wanted.

However leaving Evelyn alone abandoned in a clinic while she got to make a life for herself, made Evelyn think more and more about the offer made to her last night. She doesn't want to leave her mom and make her worry, but she wants to get better and get her life back. Evelyn makes a pros and cons chart for the rest of her day at the clinic.

"It's almost time for lights out." the nurse tells Evelyn with seemingly no emotion.

She sighs and turns off the extremely boring highschool teen drama she was watching on the small TV in the corner of her room.

She laid in bed afraid of sleep. Evelyn still hadn't decided what to choose and didn't want to face the dream guy without an answer. The more she thought the more tired she got and eventually she fell into a restless sleep.

Under an oak tree on top of a small hill behind what looked like a castle the group of friends were talking in the shade.

"School starts tomorrow and I'm not at all excited. Class is so boring and pointless considering I know so much already." the girl said playing with her hair as she looked up at the vibrant green of the leaves.

"Not all of us are experts, Noella." one of the guys said putting finger quotes around experts.

"Your right Damian, you aren't an expert. You can barely tie your shoes." another responded picking up one of Damian's untied shoelaces, causing the group to laugh. He scowled and tied his shoe.

The laughter started to fade and a familiar voice spoke. One Evelyn has been dreading to here.

"Evelyn what choice have you made? Will you join the strangers and possibly cure your disease or stay in your boring world and never be cured?"

"I-I'm not sure. How will I get back if I go?"

"One of those children posses a gift that can bring you back if you choose to return, but if you choose before you're cured will lose all memory of your time spent in that land."

"What will happen to this me the one in my land?"

"It will still be there but you and your body will be somewhere else. The body left behind will be empty and asleep."

"So I'll be in a coma?"

"If that is what your people call it yes."

"No harm will come to me or my family if I go?"

"There will be no harm to your family."

"Then... I'll...go to the other land."

The background scene faded to black and everything was quiet. There was absolutely no noise. Suddenly she could feel the emptiness of the area. It was like laying in black water. The sounds that were slowly coming back sounded distant, and shallow. Slowly the green of the oak leaves came into view. They were getting closer now and the voices were becoming clearer. Evelyn realized she was falling to the tree from the exact spot she had watched the group from before. Above the tree, in the sky. In what seemed like one second, she fell the rest of the way down and everything was black again.
