1 Chapter One
Today is the final day for the trial of my father's murderer .After today ,my father would finally gain justice for his death and his soul will finally rest in peace .
Ten years ago ,that was the promise I had made my father when he passed away .
"Daddy ,I would not allow your death to go unpunished ,I will find him and make sure to get rid of him I cried bitterly on his tomb"
Today ,right before my eyes is his murderer .I'm fulfilling my duty as a daughter but what about my other duties ?
"Cameras rolling up and down with the media persons trying all their best to get me to speak about the case while my guards try their best to block the way and make way for my passage "
"Judge Darlington , being the judge of this case , are you going to assure us about a non - biased trial against the accused ?
The law will make the judgement ,I simply said and ignored the rest of their questions .
"All rise as the honourable judge makes her way to the court "
You may proceed with the trial ,I said .
"The defence attorney laid down her statement as the prosecting attorney did same ."
Your closing statements attorneys ,I said and paid heed .
"Your honour ,my client deserves a fair sentence ,said the defence attorney " .
Your honour ,the crime committed by the accused , Mr .Sylvester Woods should not be overlooked .He deserves to serve in hard labour for the murder of the great attorney ; Attorney Joe Darlington .I plead with you to give a fair sentence as well ,said the prosecuting attorney ."
After listening to both attorneys and looking at the evidences presented ,it can be seen clearly that all the evidences go against the accused , Mr .Sylvester Woods for the crime of murdering Attorney Joe Darlington on 8th June ,2003 . The crime is a first degree murder against the accused .
The crime was a "hate crime " which was committed based on the hatred of the accused towards the deceased ,Attorney Joe Darlington . The crime was committed with a firearm which legally belonged to the accused Mr .Sylvester Woods .
The court hereby pronounces the accused according to the California Penal Code 189 guilty beyond reasonable doubt and he is to serve a sentence for life without the possibility of a parole in the Californian State Prison .
The accused is therefore pressed with other charges .
The crime was a "hate crime " so the accused would have to pay an amount of $10 ,000 to the government and this would be used to pacify the bereaved family for their loss .
The guilty ,Mr .Sylvester Woods will no longer be legally mandated to own a fire arm hence his fire arm will be in the custody of the law enforcing officers .
On that note ,the court is adjourned .
"All rise for the honourable judge as she takes her leave .
" Judge Darlington ,how was it for you judging this case especially when your father's murderer was the man whom you were about to get married to .
How did you feel when he was arrested under your wedding ceremony and proven guilty of his crime ? "
Was it easy judging your would be husband ,your love and your father's murderer ? "
The accused was found guilty of all his crimes and the law dealt with him .I only passed the sentence just as the law says .
No matter whom the accused might be ,my allegiance to the state will maintain the same . I judged the case just like any other judge would have done .I admit that it wasn't easy but for a judge ,your country and justice comes before any other relationships .
No body is above the law ,I simply said and hurried into my car to avoid more questions .
"There he comes ,the media person ran towards his direction "
Mr .Woods ,what do you have to say about your case ?
You were about getting married when you were arrested and proven guilty for the crime of murdering Attorney Joe Darlington .
You were proven guilty for killing the father of your would -be wife a moment ago ?
Do you think Judge Darlington judged the case unfairly because she found out that you committed the crime ?
"My client cannot answer any of your questions ,said the defence attorney but Sylvester interrupts her and begins to speak to the media persons ."
I'm sorry Rose ,for all the pain I have put you through .You are my gem and your memories will be always be with me in all times .If I could send back time ,then I wouldn't have broken your trust .Please forgive me Rose because I still love you and you will always remain in my heart .
"It's time to go ,the police officer said dragging him in his handcuffs and pushing him into the vehicle ."
"Are you alright ,ma'am ? ,asked my driver who was looking at me from the reflection of the mirror .
Jordan ,what is done is done .My father has gained justice and his murderer will be rotting in jail for the rest of his life .
