An Unusual Victory

The moon, the sole source of light that can bring hope to those caught in the darkness, illuminated the night sky.

The night was calm, with the moon high up in the sky, visible to the naked eye, followed by a profound silence, the silence before a battle. The tense silence that warns the animal kingdom of a large and deadly fight.

The bodies of roughly 37 humans, weak yet arrogant beings, lie in the midst of a forest clearing, near to a bloodied lake. Just at the other side of these corpses were a bear and demon in a place devoid of corpses.

I was generally content with my circumstances. Night had arrived, which was ideal for this battle because I could hit and hide until this bear fell. My strategy will DEFINITELY work because I can also damage the bear fairly well. I mean breaking bones counts as fatal damage in a fight.

As for more humans, I will always be able to go for them even though they are on the other side of this place. For now, I decide to try fighting against this arrogant beast that believes to be more superior than me.

I'm confident that with my newfound strength and confidence, I'll be able to take on this bear.

I run forward, maintaining the shadow on myself in order to avoid the bear. When I make a run at the creature, it automatically lunges forward, seeing this as an opportunity to harm me.

The second we get close to each other, I dodge to the left and follow my dodge with a movement of my left leg in order to deliver a hit to the beast's left side, but it effortlessly escapes it.

I started it as a head-to-head battle merely to see my opponent's dodging abilities, and it appears that without the usage of my shadow ability, I will have a very difficult time trying to hit the bear even if I can feel the creature's presence.

I then dash to the left in order to maintain a continuous movement. In order to confront the bear in my own playground, I cast a slightly dark shadow with a radius of 5 meters. The bear enters the shadow in a couple of seconds, a dissatisfied expression on its face, for the bear has never battled such a cowardly foe before.

I wait till the bear is within the 3 meter radius before going around in circles until I discover an opening. When I perceive the opportunity for an attack, I run straight to the bear's side because it is the best place to land a critical hit and safely flee.

I throw all the energy I can summon from my entire body into my right arm, as if I'm trying to strike the bear in the left side of its neck with an extremely heavy metal ball in a game of shot put. I truly hope the bear felt this one because I felt a lot of pain when I hit him with so much force.

When the bear was hit, it snarled and went on an unexpected rampage, trying to strike anything within the shadow. Based on its motions, it appears to have been damaged but not severely enough to render it immobile; perhaps a small or medium wound? I'm not sure, but now isn't the time to speculate.

Unfortunately the bear's rampage was a successful move because it hit me causing me to get thrown out of the shadows and into the lake.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH", the water was causing my grains to become less dense by falling into the water while my outline disappeared for a moment allowing this to happen.

By the time I got out of the water, I had lost a decent amount of grains, I would say about a human or two which is too much if I were to include the grains lost because of the force the bear delivered using its head. An attack that many would attribute to a bull or an animal with a horn or anther of sorts.

I had no idea the bear was capable of such a move, whether it was primal or intellectual in this battle. After regaining control over myself, I realized my need for more humans.

That was the only option because as the moon shone down on the bear's gorgeous pelt, I spotted its neck, which was only slightly damaged. There was no broken neck or anything else that astonished me, just a toe sized bruise-like injury.

I rapidly cast two shadows after exiting the water and ran towards the other human bodies. One of the shadows was to give me a second or two because the bear was already moving in my direction, and the second was to cover my body again because the water had somehow vanquished the shadow.

I will have to research and experiment with my body's reaction to water later on in order to learn more.

As I ran towards the human bodies, I noticed the bear ignore the shadows and charge towards me with its fangs with a pace that had not been present only a few seconds before; had it been concealing its actual strength all this time? But why?

As I was perplexed and unsure what to do next, I produced additional shadows and rapidly approached the human bodies to swallow them, but as I was about to get down, I noticed the bear's presence penetrate the shadow and reach next to me in a couple of seconds.

Even with the capacity to sense a creature's existence in my own shadows, it was too fast for me to respond. It was as if I saw my eyes flash before me at that instant because the bear's fangs shone with a blue light and bit through my body.

It had practically torn my body apart and gone through the whole thing. I...was going to die now, it was the end.

At that moment, I kept on blacking out for a few seconds, coming back and then blacking out once more.

"Quick, deal with the polar bear or whatever it is" I heard a voice shout before grabbing my body and jumping in the air, going in a direction which I had no idea where it lead to.

"But...It's already on the ground, barely breathing" said another voice

"figure it o.. yo..self, I.......bloodsh..."
