1 Prologue

What is your purpose?

Every living being has its purpose in life. It may not be visible at first, but someday, it'll show itself upon you.

Countless voices blame me over and over again. It is natural to blame me after what I've done.

[You have broken a taboo]

I killed someone. I took their life away; A breathing, loving person who has provided me with warmth and love. Now they are cold and distant.

[You have broken a taboo]

I found something that I shouldn't have. It was close to the truth of the world, I would say, but before I could know anything, the sin of my act showed its fruit- a forbidden fruit with forbidden knowledge and forbidden meaning.

Because of this, I brought a disaster to everyone.

I wasn't worthy of forgiveness.

And then, I wonder….

What if there is someone, who is me and not me at the same time? Would they do the same too?

If that's the case, they are the only ones who can fix my mistakes.

My other side of myself.

As I walk down the dark path, I reminisce everything that happened to me for the last few days. Maybe not days; perhaps it was weeks, months, or even years.

I cross the world. I cross time and space. Maybe it's the sole purpose of my existence. Without asking, my five companions leave their beautiful life and follow me to hell. Although they know about what disaster will come upon them.

*Squeak*

*Clang*

The sound of the plate being cleaned filled the room. So many dishes can be cleaned until the sound of rain outside is not heard.

Today Starlight Cafe holds a re-opening after months of renovations. This café's loyal customers who wait for this renovation to complete flock to this café.

As the renovation progresses, the boss recruited a brand new barista because the old barista was too old to work.

And it's this new barista that makes this café even more crowded.

His tall figure and handsome face attracts the attention of the women who came.

Everyone is stunned by him, including me.

Of course, I don't even dare to expect anything. I'm a nobody.

"Krisan"

He breaks the silence by talking to me.

"Don't forget to clean the coffee grinder. As for other coffee-making equipment, just leave it to me."

"Uh, of course. I'll do it after this."

Before I can finish cleaning the plates, a doorbell is ringing. Instinctively, I shout, "Welcome to Starlight Cafe!" upon remembering that it is already closing time. "Ah, I'm sorry, but it is late already. We'll open at 10 a.m. as usual."

"Krisan, lower your voice. It was me, your boss."

Ah, crap.

"Did you forget your boss already? We have been working together for 3 years."

"Uh, sorry, boss. I- I was too immersed in my work."

My cheeks are a little bit red from embarrassment.

"Don't fret about it. Anyways, how about your first day Daniel?"

Upon calling his name, the new barista, Daniel, replies to her question without looking back.

"It was fine."

Short and concise.

'He's far too busy to look back, huh.' I thought.

"Just fine? Should I add more work for you then? So you can learn how to see your opponent's face while talking."

Then she gazes at me.

"What do you think, Krisan? Should I add his work?"

*chuckle*

"I'm afraid if you were to add his work, he would be more focused on his work and neglect you more, boss," I reply with a light laugh. Then the three of us start to laugh.

A cafe with a yellowish light, with the relaxing sound of rain, gives us a feeling of serenity.

A boss, waitress, and barista; it's such a harmonious relationship between us.

This moment was so peaceful. I can't ask for more, though; I doubt I have the privilege for it.

The only thing I can ask is,

'I hope this moment lasts forever.'
