1 Chapter 1: The Beginning of a Great Journey
In the land of myth, and a time of magic. The future of a great Kingdom rests on the shoulder of three young boys, their names, Yuno, Asta, and Fate.
Many years ago, appeared a demon. It's existence threatens the balance and the innocents, until one man stands against this demon. He was known as.....the first sorcery emperor who stood against the demon that was said to be as big as a mountain, fought against it and won after a long and intensive battle. But, at the cost of his life.
After that catastrophic incident, the Kingdom of Clover finally experience and harmony for many years. Now, many people of the present will shake the very foundation of the world. Unknown to many, noticed by few, shunned by most, acknowledged by less, in the coming time of this new age, those who are gifted by talent, will surprise all, and those who work hard towards their goal, will be rewarded. However, those who are blessed with talent and hard work, will bring together a great nation.
The three boys of destiny, will be one of many, and cycle of fate......rest in their heart.
Present
In the small village of Hage a young male's voice screamed out. Gathering the attention of everyone in the village.
???: I'LL BECOME THE SORCERY EMPEROR ONE DAY...
Villagers of Hage actually was able to hear a young male's voice scream out. The Village of Hage is not big but it is not small either. Despite that, everyone heard his voice.
Village 1: It's that kid again?
Village 2: Same morning everyday I guess. He might as well become a rooster to wake us up.
A boy was on his knees proposing to a nun with a flower in his hand while he lets the whole world know.
???: I'LL MAKE YOU HAPPY! SO WOULD YOU PLEASE!
The sparkle in his eyes simply tells that he is serious and will not take no for an answer but the beautiful nun rejected him politely.
Nun: I'm sorry Asta, but I am everyone's sister.
The boy named Asta who was really short for his age (15 years old), has dark grey hair and green eyes, was shocked by the sudden rejection started falling backwards. But just as he was half-way falling to the ground, he stiffens himself and shots right back to standing up straight with a determined face.
Asta: I'M NOT FINISHED YET!
Nun: I still can't except.
Asta: I'M NOT GIVING UP!
And he went on and on and on and on, until someone came in to stop him, physically.
???: WOULD YOU SHUT UP ALREADY!
Someone came out of the shadows and sucker punched him in the face and Asta fell face flat into the ground. The unexpected appearance of the unknown attacker surprised the nun for a few moments before making an angry face and started scolding him.
Nun: Fate! You shouldn't be do that!
The boy named Fate who was of average height, has grayish black hair and purplish blue eyes, but currently has a face of a murderer looks at the nun. Surprisingly, the nun still had her lecture face on and still didn't back down from him. Fate looks at the nun for a few more moments before calming down and scratching the back of his head embarrassed. He then apologizes for his mistake.
Fate: Oh....uh, yea. Sorry about that sister.
His expression then turns into a timid one. Then, a gust of win went and blew Asta back on the ground when he was getting up. Worried about him, Fate quickly ran to his side.
Fate: Asta. Are....you okay?
Asta was fine and he jumps back up and angrily points at his attacker.
Asta: WHAT THE HELL YUNO! WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA!?
The young boy, Fate, gave the attacker, Yuno, a thumbs up.
Fate: Oh thanks Yuno for stopping this idiot. I was enjoying a good dream too.
Yuno is a young man matching Fate with average height with a lean build, amber eyes, and messy black hair.
Yuno: We all know the only dream you dream is sheeps and rainbows.
Fate shows an embarrassed smile. He walks to Asta and offers his assistance.
Fate: Need some help?
Asta gratefully accepted his help and once he was back on his feet, he went back to being loud again and challenges Yuno.
Asta: YUNO! FIGHT ME!
Yuno states blankly at Asta before coolly rejecting him.
Yuno: No.
Asta: AND WHY THE HELL NOT!
Yuno brings his finger to his chin in a thinking state before answering. Fate went and grabs some ear plugs and gave them to sister Lily and the kids before putting it on himself.
Yuno: Because you're loud, short, annoying, can't sit still, narrow minded, and you have NO luck with women.
Asta: Nwhoooooo! Is that what you say to the guy who you spent fifteen years with!
Fate then jumps into their conversation.
Fate: I'm...I'm...also part of being with you two for fifteen years too...right?
Yuno looks at Fate before releasing a sigh and patting his shoulder.
Yuno: Don't be so down Fate. At least you're not as bad as Asta.
Asta: Don't ignore me! You know what that's it!
Then a boy who was with Yuno, gave a smart mouth comment.
Boy 1: You can't beat him Asta because...
Asta: Take this!
Asta clenched his fist and then throws it out as if he was throwing something in his hand, only for nothing to come out.
Boy 1: You have no magic.
Asta then had his head down but he then starts chuckling.
Asta: Hehehe. Alright, guess I'll have to use my speciality.
Asta sits on the floor and starts doing sit ups in rapid pace.
Asta: ORAAAAA! HOW'S THAT!? BET YOU CAN'T DO IT AS FAST AS ME?!
Boy 1: I can't believe you still can't do magic given your age.
A young girls voice shout out in joy after seeing Yuno using wind magic to fry up the clothes. Seeing his rival gaining the attention of others made Asta more motivated to beat him. An idea pops up in his head and he goes grab a axe to chop the wood.
Asta: I shall go and chop the wood then.
Only for Yuno to butt in and slice it in half.
Boy 1: The gap between you two is so large even I'm speechless.
A hand then lands on the boy's shoulder. He looks up to see Fate smiling at him.
Fate: You can't be rude to him like that Nash.
The young boy with short brown hair and purple eyes remained stoic but seem to accept Fate's words.
Fate: Good. Nash, you need to understand that even commoner can achieve great things.
Nash: What are you trying to prove by talking lik-
Fate: I know why you always discourage Asta for having a....silly dream was it?
Nash then looks down in shame. But he then crosses his arms and blows it off as if nothing happened.
Nash: Hmph! So what, I still think he is silly for having a dream like that! Only royalty and nobles can do that!
Fate: And what if Asta actually gets into the field of magic knights? What will you say then?
The boy still seem determined to say that Asta will still fail and will never become a magic knights. Despite his constant talks with Nash, he knew that one day Asta will become a great person.
Fate: Well, we'll see. But I'm sure he will become something great in the future.
Nash: Not like you have anything to say in it. You too have no magic whatsoever.
Fate looks at Nash before patting his head and walked away without saying anything.
Fate: Come on you two, why don't you let it go and settle it on another time?
Asta: Hell no! I ain't going anywhere unless I beat this guy!
Yuno: I'd rather not waste my time.
Asta: Grrr. Dammit! Why! Why did this happened!
Instead of a cry baby who couldn't take criticism, all Fate saw was a frustration teen who doesn't act like a kid but doesn't act like a grown up at all. Yuno then slaps his hand away.
Yuno: Obviously it is the result of talent and unrelenting hardwork.
Then, the father of the church came out with tears of joy in his eyes, cheering for Yuno.
Prist: Yuno! You are the pride of our village!
Nash: I'm sure that you will become a magic knights or even work for the emperor someday.
Everyone began to praise Yuno got his magic, leaving the gloomy Asta to sulk in the mud. But the kind and caring sister Lily comforts Asta.
Sister Lily: Don't worry Asta. Your awarding ceremony is tomorrow so I'm sure that you'll get a incredible grimoir.
Asta was once again happy after her kind and caring attitude. Then Asta looks at the skeleton of the demon lord and the statue of the first magic emperor and made a vow like he always does and runs off to the woods.
Sister Lily: Asta!
Yuno: I wouldn't worry about him. He'll be back once he's hungry.
Still worried, she stares off to the woods where Asta entered and back at Yuno. She sighs heavily.
Fate: I see that you're worried for the both of them sister Lily.
Sister Lily: And I have every right to be. Those two have always been together and now it's like they're oil and water.
Fate: I'm sure they're fine. Besides, those two are inseparable.
Sister Lily: And what about you? Didn't you once had a dream to be the sorcery emperor too?
Fate: I still do sister Lily.
She once again sigh but this time she had a worried look on her face.
Sister Lily: What happened to you?
Fate: What do you mean?
Sister Lily: Ever since that day you and Asta came back beaten up and Yuno beibg covered in mud. You stopped being reckless.
Fate: Right...that day.
Sister Lily: If there's anything I can do to help-
But Fate stops her from continuing any further.
Fate: Make no mistake sister. I'm still that reckless and arrogant kid. But I've learned when and when not to be reckless and arrogant. I too made a vow that day.
Fate didn't wait for her to answer and went to the same direction of where Asta went.
Afternoon.
Asta was doing a one hand, handstand push up.
Asta: 997...998...999...1000! ALRIGHT! NOW FOR THE LEAF SAP THAT INCREASE MAGIC PROWESS!
He chunks down a whole bottle of leaf sap and did a test run if there were any signs of magic but none. Not giving up, he continues to train. Not noticing that there were two more people in the forest with him.
Yuno hid behind a tree and practiced his wind magic and Fate sat on a rock meditating. A small crack can be seen on a boulder behind him.
The next day: Awarding Ceremony.
The time for all kids that come of age, is the time when the dandelion dances on the month of March. Asta, Yuno, and Fate went for their Awarding Ceremony.
An old man stands on the top to present himself and greet the new generation of grimoir holders. He gave a speech which Fate didn't really care about and once he was done giving his speech grimoir of different sizes, colours and thickness, came flying out of the shelf.
Everyone was happy to get their grimoir, some even boasted about how big or thick their grimoirs are. But one in particular didn't receive theirs.
Asta: Excuse me! Where is my grimoir!
The old man who was the head of the grimoir tower didn't know what to say except.
Old man: Ahem. Try again next year.
Everyone laughed at him, belittled him. But he didn't care. Yuno however, stole the attention of royalty and nobles when his grimoir reveal to be a four clover grimoir. The one that the first emperor had, the clover of fortune. His next words shocked and impressed almost everyone in the tower.
Yuno: I will be the next sorcery emperor!
Everyone cheered for him and praised him. Y/n stood at the sidelines and watched how everyone treated Asta and Yuno.
Asta: Yuno! Fate! I will make this clear to you two! I'll will be the next sorcery emperor and.....I am your one and only rival!
Fate smiled at him. But before he could say anything, the crowd began to throw comments at him.
Boy 1: Ha! As if you could be his rival! And who is this Fate, bet he's better than you.
Girl 1: In your dreams kid. You will never become the next sorcery emperor.
Fate then walks to Asta and gave him a pat. Asta saw that he too also had no grimoir.
Boy 1: Is that Fate? Your rival? Oh please I'd be embarrassed to call myself your rival, much less your friend if I were him!
Asta and Fate didn't care. But what Yuno said to Asta when he walked pass him shocked him.
Yuno: Ridiculous.
Yuno went out and before Fate could leave, he felt someone in the crowd was watching. He looked around but saw no one before he made his way out.
???: Kukuku. I can't believe that there was something amazing came from this place.
After the Awarding Ceremony, Asta hung himself upside down using his legs and was in deep thought.
Asta: I knew that I had no magic but....to think it was this bad. I had no idea. Then...that promise I made with Yuno.
He shook away those thoughts and flipped himself back on his feet on the branch and shouted out to fate.
Asta: AS IF I'LL GIVE UP NOW! I DON'T CARE IF IT'LL TAKE A YEAR OR TWO, I WON'T STOP UNTIL I GET MY GRIMOIR!
He noticed that Yuno was still hanging around the grimoir tower. He just stood there staring at it. Asta wondered what he was doing when chains came flying at Yuno and trapped him.
The attacker came out. With a creepy smile and hair messier than Yuno, he spoke.
???: What is a superstar like you doing out here?
Yuno grimoir was then tored out from his waist and into the hand of the mysterious attacker.
Yuno: Who the hell are you?
???: Ku ku ku. I was once a magic knight trying to build a name of myself as a chain master. But now? I'm just a humble bandit.
Seeing rival tied up by the chains. Asta made his way to him.
???: This grimoir, it may not be useful to anyone but its master, it still pays a high price at the black market, especially when it is a four clover grimoir.
Asta: Hold it right there-ere-ere-ere-ere-ere-ere-ere.
Not watching where he was stepping, he rolled down the hill and smashed his face into the walls of the tower. Pulling his face out be then points at his rivals attacker.
Asta: What the hell is your problem punk! That's Yuno's grimoir!
???: As if I'll give it back.
Asta: That grimoir is something precious to Yuno!
???: Kahahahaa! Doing twisted things is a step into the real world kid, especially when it comes to money.
Asta: Well I guess I'll just have to rip it out of your creepy hands then?
Knowing what Asta was going to do, Yuno shouted to him to run.
Yuno: Asta, run!
But he didn't listen, Asta ran towards the attacker.
Asta: As if I'll run from a person who's fallen so low!
???: I may have fallen, but it's from the seat of a magic knight. I won't break a sweat against you!
The attacker used his chains to trap Asta like he did to Yuno. Asta still inexperienced with how the grimoir works, receives a static shock when he tried to resist against the chains. The shock didn't knock him out but it did render him immobilized.
???: Let me tell you a secret kid. My chains has the ability to tell how much magic a person have, and yours is zero. Not a single drop of magic.
Never in his life did Asta receive a shocked so bad but hearing that he had no magic whatsoever, made him realized how much of an idiot he really is.
???: I never thought a person like you ever existed but I can only pity you. I bet your talented friend over there thinks of you as garbage and that boy who left after that too.
Fate: No. I don't
The attacker didn't react in time to dodge a punch that came from Fate. The hit was strong enough to send him flying towards the wall.
Fate: Let me tell you something you scar face shit bag! I will never be ashamed or think of Asta as garbage! He is the few people in this wicked world that I'll ever respect. So if you lay another hand on him, I'll make sure to scar the other part of your face! Although, your other part of your face is ugly enough to be call a scar so I don't think it'll make much of a difference.
Yuno: Asta. I will never think of you as garbage. You are my rival and that will never change! You and Y/n both.
Fate smiles, his once timidness completely disappears and was replaced by a angry but acknowledging expression and Asta gains determinated eyes. He apologises for his stupid display and breaks out of the chains. Seeing Fate back like that again made both of them remember how he was.
Years ago when Yuno was still a cry baby, he got himself in trouble with a drunken royalty. Having his pendent stolen from him as he begged the drunken to give it back but he didn't. Seeing their friend in danger, both Asta and Fate jumped in to get the pendent back. Asta and Fate suffered from the drunken magic attacks but they didn't back down. Fate took it all the way and knocked the drunken out.
Fate and Asta smiled and gave the pendent back to Yuno. It was that day that those three made an oath. They will become the sorcery emperor.
Asta: Hey scar face! I'm not done yet! Get your ass back up so I can beat you back down!
It was then, Asta and Fate received their grimoir. Asta had a five clover grimoir that looked beaten up and Fate received a blueish black Six clover grimoir.
What Yuno received was the clover of fortune that resides in the four clover grimoir but what you'll get within a five and six clover grimoir, are the Devil and Absolute Chaos and Destruction.
The grimoir opens itself to Fate and Asta. Out came a giant sword for Asta and out came gloves for Fate. They didn't ask what it is, they just took it. Asta took his sword that was heavy, mentally appreciating his years of training. Fate wore the gloves and it latched itself onto his skin and blueish black colour lines began to spread out on his arms and down to his legs. He didn't know what it was but he was brimming with power.
The attacker finally recovers from Fate's hit but when he got up his face turns pale. What he saw, he wished that he didn't recover and stayed unconscious. What he saw behind the two boys were the shadow of a Demon and the shadow of a Dragon.
???: Wh-what is that thing!?
Yuno: I knew it.
Fate/Asta: HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Asta: NOT GIVING UP!
Fate: IS!
They charged at him. Still frightened by what he saw, he failed to put up his guard the second time and stop hit by both Asta's sword and Fate's fist,
Asta: IS MY MAGIC!
Yuno: Them not getting a Grimoire Is ridiculous!
Asta, Yuno and Fate defeated their first enemy. Their first step towards being a sorcery emperor has started.
