17 The Dark Land

"So I guess you really are my Dad then. But where are we?" Nadia asked after wiping her tears. 'I can't tell him what I was doing before I got here it would sound crazy. But how did he even get here?' she thought glancing at her father.

"You are very observant. But I guess I should expect no less from my daughter." her father replied slightly proud, Nadia just glanced at him with a slightly annoyed face he then coughed slightly. "This place is called the Dark land. Here the concept of time and space is twisted. It was a dimension created by the Niukyu… you probably don't know who that is."

"I'm aware of them."

"What?!"

"I know about the Niukyu. Since you somehow know of them as well… it's clear you've left me out of some kind of secret. Sigh… I drop my… annoyance about this for now, but it's clear that I'll be able to tell you the last thing I was doing before arriving here without sounding like a total nut job." Nadia sighed crossing her arm. "There is a lot to explain actually on both sides… I'll tell what been happening with me lately to start it off." Nadia added with a click of her tongue.

"The plane that I was on while returning home after a business trip crashed. When I opened my eyes rather than a hospital I was in a fairly high class but old-time styled room. In less than 24 hours I learned the reason for it. A group of robbed people I've decided to dub the council informed me what is happening. They sent my soul from my unconscious body to another, as beings called Niukyu are trying to use the crack that has formed in this world as a way to escape.

"The body and world I was set to have been trapped in a loop. The original owner of this body's soul has faded, and to ensure that Niukyu can not succeed they've been sending souls to the body to replace the missing soul. I'm the 13th soul to arrive in this girl's body… and according to the council the first to be the most in sync with the body, I'm inhabiting. I've been asked to break the loop this world has been trapped in, and I'm doing it since it's interesting as if it's something that was missing in my life.

"Anyways right before I came here I was attacked by a dark beast I killed the body just barely before getting attacked and swallowed up by a shadow. Next thing I know I'm here. So father I would like to know exactly what's going on… you can't hide it anymore. I always thought you were hiding something I could never figure out what. I think now is the time you should tell me…

"Cause it has something to do with mother's death doesn't it. Your face paled the moment it mentioned the council. So tell me the truth as I won't stay sitting down any longer." Nadia retold with a sharp gaze directed at her father.

"Your right I should have told you a long time ago. I should have broken the seal your mother placed on you sooner than letting the council do this to you. You wouldn't have gotten in this situation… I just didn't want to lose you like I did Morgana… as a father it scares me exposing you to the very thing that killed your mother knowing you will be in much more danger. Niukyu is dangerous and hunted for you before… you and your mother both. Morgana told me you were much more powerful than her… and it's more than likely that one day they would attack you.

"It's the reason Morgana died. She died protecting you. You noticed something right away didn't you. You recognized the energy of this place yes. You might not remember but that day Morgana died you and she were pulled into the dark lands. She sealed your power, and also gave you her bracelet to grant you even more protection. In the end, while hiding and escaping here Morgana was killed by a hunter here.

"When you are killed here you die in real life as your mind and soul are fragmented. You appeared here in our world and Morgana fell to the ground dead."

Nadia closed her eyes and turned her head to the ground, she could picture the moment she could recall everything then like a flood gate she remembered seeing dark energy tendrils shoot out and piece her mother right in front of her, taking the hit that she was meant to take. Then when back in her world her eyes lost all like and turned white blood begun to spill from her mouth nose and eyes before she fell to the ground. She could picture it so vividly something she desperately shut out of her mind when she was younger. "I-I-I r-remember… so dying here means a true and painful death the complete end of one's existence… never to return to the flowing cycle. Tsk… it was my fault that mom died. Damn it." Nadia muttered covering her face.

"Dia I can promise you that she never regrets that choice. She loved you dearly and was more than ready to sacrifice herself for you… she would have done the same for Faroe as well it's what parents do. Especially those like us. In truth Nadia your mother and I are from prominent magic families this is something that we are always had to face."

"… I still feel responsible none the less. But now isn't the time to hate myself. I have a business to take care of. So father I would like for you to tell me everything you have not told me about our family history and myself, along with what I need to do when trapped in this world, how to escape everything. Don't leave things out I'll need for this."

"There is a lot."

"Give me the tl;dr version of the family history then, but we will talk about this. When we see one another again you will tell me everything about the family." Nadia replied sharply clicking her tongue.
