1 Nadia Luna & Evangeline Espinoza

The first thought that went through Nadia's head was 'everything hurts.' She couldn't recall at this exact moment as to why she was in pain but the clear thought of pain was the first thing that registered in her mind, she then tried to think of how she got to this point.

Her name was Nadia Luna a 24-year-old woman that has made it fairly well in life after she started working a little over 4 years ago. She was like a jack of all trades according to people that knew her, a rare athletic intellectual, that has a vast (and odd) arrange of knowledge and skills. The last thing she could remember at this moment was that she was just finished a business trip and was on her way home. 'Well, I remember everything about my life except after eating breakfast the day I was leaving. Meaning something happened on the way to the airport or with the plane. Sadly it also seems I'm not dead since I can feel pain.' Nadia thought. Another thing of importance is that Nadia does not fear death in the slightest… honestly, you might even consider her suicidal since she wants to died… however, she will never kill herself. As such she awaits her own death often hoping for it just like at this moment as she was disappointed that she hadn't died since she felt pain.

'I should try and get up. I got important clients to tend to and my pets at home to take care of.' She sighed deciding though in pain she was more than ready get up and back to life. However the moment she opened her eyes she was confused. Expecting to see sky, or a hospital ceiling or even a metal roof of a car or plane. But none of that was what she was currently looking at. 'Where the hell am I?'

Despite that Nadia just forced herself to sit up, "ugh." Nadia(?) groaned as she moved her aching body. 'That's not my voice… though it passed my lips.' Nadia thought in confusion as she sat up a long strand of dark blue hair fell into her face. This caused her to pause. 'What the?! My hair isn't blue, my hair is brown/green tinted with strawberry blonde balayage streaks… nor this long… it was long but not this long.' Nadia question very confused at this point.

"Evangeline!" A male and young girls voice called. Nadia turned her head due to the urgency of their voices. The two people moved over next to her the man next to the bed and the girl over the bed and hugged her. Nadia could feel pain at their touch her entire body hurt.

"Who are you, people?" Nadia(?) asked hearing her voice made her even more confused as it wasn't her voice, though she also wasn't planning on saying that out loud. It was more the pain she felt in her body she accidentally spat it out.

"Evangeline don't joke around."

"… I'm not joking. Whose this Evangeline? My name's Nadia. I think you got the wrong room-" Nadia(?) paused before paling at a sudden realization. "Pass me a mirror."

"What?"

"Pass me a mirror now!" Nadia(?) exclaimed and a panicked voice the man grabbed a hand mirror and gave over to Nadia. She looked at herself in the mirror feeling a pit fill in her stomach as she moved the hair away from her right eye seeing she had a pair of silver eyes, and not only that her face was different from before. The shock caused Nadia to drop the mirror. "Haha…" Nadia(?) laughed out a dejected laugh. "What kind of sick joke is this. I probably died in one messed up life, haha, and now I'm someone else. I'm still fucking alive. This is just one sick joke." Nadia(?) laughed clenching her fist.

"Eva are you alright."

'Aaah frick. How will I explain that outburst? I don't want to get sent to a psych ward, even though it is the case that I'm not technically Evangeline since she died and I took her place. I'd rather no one find out. I'd like if they forgot my little outburst and my actual name.' Nadia groaned. "Forget… pfft as if." Nadia/Eva laughed when suddenly a light came from her hand and hit the two people causing them to pass out. "What the hell?!" Nadia/Eva gasped with wide eyes seeing the two people that had just passed out.

She looked over at the mirror, "fix" She muttered once and a glow came from her hand and it the broken mirror and it repaired itself. She bent down (ignoring the pain) and picked it up. It wasn't an illusion the mirror was fixed. "Magic… I can use a form of magic in this world… cool." Nadia/Eva muttered looking at the mirror again she estimated she was in her early teens possibly 10 years younger than what she was before. "It's nice to get my youth back but at the same time I don't want to go through my 'awkward' years again." Nadia/Eva muttered before placing the mirror down.

Nadia then heard a groan escape from one of those two people's lips. 'I can't act like this Evangeline person cause I don't know anything about them. Letting them know I don't remember anything will be more advantageous. I'll be able to learn more about this place at least cause they'll try to help me remember. Which won't happen obviously. Right now I need information they will be my best source… since it seem this Eva and them have a good relationship whatever it is… cause she doesn't look like them though there are very slight similarities. But not enough for them to be related.' Nadia thought looking over at the two people in front of her.

"Ah, Evangeline your awake."

Nadia just looked at the man. 'His tone is very kind… fairly sincere. What relationship is there here? Also, it seems he thinks the two of them fall asleep in this room.' Nadia noted down mentally.

"Are you alright?"

"… Everything hurts… but who are you? What happened? Where am I?"

"You don't remember anything?"

Nadia just shook her head which caused the two people to frown they were sad. "Ah I don't know where to start." the young girl laughed.

"Your name is Evangeline Espinoza, who are we, we are your family."

"You two do not look like me."

"Ah well, you are adopted."

'That explains that.' Nadia thought, "I see."

"You are taking that quite well.'

"It's the facts… no reason for denying it. So what happened? Why does everything hurt?"

"You're in pain. Take these they are painkillers." The man told her handing Nadia and a small piece of paper. She opened it and poured it into her mouth before taking a drink of water that was on the bedside table.

"The reason you are in so much pain was because you were in a serious carriage accident. You were lucky to come out alive."

'Carriage… so this is defiantly not a modern world then.'

"Where we are is your room. Ah, you likely don't remember the estate either."

"Estate you have an estate?"

"Of course I'm a Duke after all."

"I see."

"This world is defiantly not mine there are not many nobles around in my world. Which is obvious since I can use magic. I've learned a fair amount already.' Nadia thought she looked over at the younger girl. "So I guess you are my younger sister than… technically. As you are related to the duke- er father."

"You don't have to force yourself." the duke told her but she shook her head.

The younger girl grabbed 'Nadia's' arm, "you don't remember me?" Nadia nodded causing the girl to frown. "… well I'm your little sister Hermione Espinoza… after father adopted you of course."

'So Evangeline was adopted later in life… explains the Duke's awkwardness. He never thought he'd have to tell Eva she's adopted since she was already aware of it.' Nadia muttered. "I see." she muttered. 'But if this is an old-time duke house should there not be servants? When I woke up I was alone.'

"I'm surprised at how calm you are. I would think you'd cause a commotion the moment you woke up." the duke said. Nadia kept her mouth shut when he said that. "This can not get out. No one else can know that you've lost your memory, Evangeline."

This caused Nadia to give pause. "Wha-?"

"Father is right. It's too dangerous for people to learn about your situation."

'This girl is in some kind of dangerous situation. I need more information before I can draw a good conclusion as to why this is the case but I have a feeling it's going to displease me.' Nadia thought glancing around the room noticing the state and comparing it to what she knows about nobles from her world and in books she has read. 'It's highly probable there is abuse. However, with the accident that killed the original Evangeline, I won't be able to tell till later.' Nadia sighed as if this was just an everyday occurrence.

"We should let Nadia rest for the rest of the day."

"Okay, father. Eva I'll send over Gracie to give you something to eat." Hermione told her before Nadia was left alone in the room.

Nadia was told to rest but she wasn't planning on doing that. Though the body she was currently in was in pain this was nothing compared to the pain she had gone through in her previous life. She turned and tossed her legs over the side of the bed before slowly forcing herself to her feet. It was awkward for a moment, like a new set of legs, this body felt a little odd to Nadia initially since it was much smaller than her previous. It was as if she was wearing a set of clothes too small or something of that effect.

Nadia began to check out the room she was in which she presumes to be Evangeline. It wasn't a bad room however not something that a duke's daughter (adopted or not) would have. She then walked over to the full body mirror and looked at herself in full. To Nadia, she looked quite young not to even mention the long dark blue hair. 'Evangeline is quite cute.' Nadia thought lightly touching the girl's face. As Nadia looked at herself in the mirror she noticed what appeared to be a glowing book behind her. 'A glowing book?'

Nadia turned but couldn't see the book behind her but it was clearly in the mirror in front of her. "Could it be…" She muttered before reaching her hand forward toward the mirror. She briefly touched the cold mirrored surface then the next moment her hand entered the mirror. Nadia let out a slight laugh with a weird smile. Then she grabbed a hold of the leathered surface of the book gripping it tightly she pulled it out from the mirror. She looked at the book turning it over examining it. It was defiantly a real book not some kind of illusion. 'What's in this book made this girl hide it in a mirror?' Nadia muttered in wonder.
