The Beginning - 1

The sky was fairly cloudy, but not cloudy enough to block the overwhelming rays of light that blocked Yang Ce's vision.

As one of the few children at his school that actually walked to school, there was essentially no one to relate to such a struggle.

Still, his Chinese parents felt that instead of following the American ways, he should be more traditional. For people who moved from China to America, they sure refused to forget their past customs.

As Yang Ce squinted his eyes in an attempt to look both ways before crossing the street, a blue light blinded him. At first, he did not notice it due to the presence of the sun, but as it intensified, it could no longer be ignored.

On that day, Yang Ce disappeared from the world.

In a large room, decorated with gold and red silk, 13 blue circle's glowed.

"Your majesty. It seems to be taking an exceptionally long time. Did we make a mistake?" A voice on the side of the room asked.

"Of course not you fool. The court magicians of each and every generation have studied the great god's instructions until they could recite it in their sleep." Another voice on the other side retorted.

"Silence. Have patience." The man sitting on the throne anxiously said.

Despite his facade, he was as anxious, if not more, than anyone else in the room.

Suddenly, one of the circles vanished and a huge, buff man with brown hair and brown eyes replaced it.

He stood 7 foot 5, and someone of his stature could perhaps only be found playing basketball professionally or in legends.

Before anyone could react to his sudden appearance, a woman dressed in white clothes with long black hair and seemingly white eyes appeared. An air of elegance radiated off of her.

Again, a circle disappeared and this time a shrewd looking boy of average height with brown hair and black eyes appeared.

Next, a 6 foot tall male with brown hair and sun-like eyes appeared. He was Yang Ce.

He looked around with apparent confusion as more people appeared.

In merely 15 seconds since the appearance of the first person, 13 people stood in the middle of what could only be described as a throne room.

In front of them sat a king on his throne with two women and a male standing next to him. On the sides of the throne room were seats lined with people dressed in noble clothes. Above them, on a second floor viewing area, more people in noble clothes stared at them with gleaming eyes.

"Heroes!" The man sitting on the throne shouted. "It is true, the 13 heroes of legend truly exist."

The king could not contain himself and displayed a demeanor unfitting of a king. The people standing around him and the people on the sides had even less composure than him.

"The god truly did prepare us!"

"The day has come! Humanity once again has hope!"

"Will the tides of the endless war finally change?"

The 13 people in the middle of the throne room looked around them with confusion and wariness.

"Silence!" A voice shouted. The king had finally regained his composure and quieted the noisy throne room.

"Can't any of you see that we are before the 13 heroes. For the love of god, make a good first impression." The king said.

As the throne room finally regained silence, the king spoke, this time with the bearing of a king.

"All of you must be confused. Please, do not worry." The king said.

"You 13 have been summoned to this world from your original world. For that, I am immensely apologetic. You must understand, our kingdom, all of humanity, and the entire world is in danger of complete destruction." The king explained.

The 13 people silently listened, wondering if they were dreaming.

"The demon god sent down upon our world the 12 demon kings, 108 demon lords, and the 324 demon generals. In only 50 years, they have completely taken over two fifths of the world. In another 50, they would have taken over the rest, killing all life upon it. That is where you 13 heroes come in." The king said.

Excitement was visible on his face as he continued.

"For as long as humans have lived in this world, a book has been passed down. This book informed us of the 13 heroes, heroes brought from another world, each the most talented in their category, that could possibly save the world in a time of peril. Without doubt, this is that time."

"On behalf of the three kingdoms, the empire, and the world, I beg the 13 heroes to save our world." The king said as he lowered his head.

So too did everyone else in the room.

After a moment of silence, a voice was heard.

"Hell yeah!"

The king, and most of the people in the room, looked up surprised.

A shrewd looking man, or rather a skinny boy 17 years old, clenched his fists in excitement.

"It's about time. I've seen the shows. You all know what I'm talking about, right?" The shrewd looking boy asked.

"I know. Them isekai things. Ain't this the overused trope." The 7 foot 5 buff man said.

"Indeed. Indeed. But it should still be much better than living on earth." The shrewd looking boy responded.

By the expressions of the 13 heroes, it appeared that everybody had at least some understanding of what the shrewd looking boy was talking about.

After a moment, the king spoke up.

"As far as I am aware, the teleportation circles passed down should choose people who would be willing to help the world. Though I was recommended to inform you that you can exceed the limits of human abilities in this world." The king said hesitantly.

"I think we all more or less understand the situation. Please, continue." Yang Ce said respectfully.

"If you don't mind." The king said. "I will proceed to tell you what hero each of you represents." The king stated.
