3 Chapter 3: Water Snake & The Wristbands!

- Arthur Pendragon -

I landed in the water a few feet in front of Octavia, drawing the snake's attention. I turn my head and shout to Octavia, "Get out of the water! Now!" Octavia quickly swam to the rocks and was helped up by Finn and Clarke.

"Arthur, get out of the water!" All of them shouted.

'When is there free XP in front of me? I don't think so!' I retort mentally.

Lifting my sword above my head, I angle it downwards facing the water. The snake continuously got closer and closer until it was only a few feet in front of me. [Observe].

[Mutated Plain-bellied Water Snake]

'Now!' I mentally yell as the snake latches onto my lower leg. Stabbing my sword down into the water with my enhanced strength, I pierced the snake through its skull causing it to begin thrashing about, pulling me and my leg along with it.

Letting go of my sword, that is still stuck in its scaled head. I wrapped my arms around its neck and began to squeeze. Instead of just using my arms I use my whole body. I plant my remaining leg in its side and push. Slowly but surely, I hear the bones crack, one after another as the snake continues to thrash. Until eventually...

The snake goes limp and shudders underneath me. I disengage my legs from the snake and place them back down in the water. With my arms still firmly clasped around the snake's neck I begin to drag it back over to shore.

"Arthur!"

"Arthur!"

Reaching the shore, I am immediately bear hugged by Octavia thanking me for saving her and wondering if I was okay.

"I'm fine." I speak.

"Really?" Octavia asks with a glare.

"Yes, I'm okay." I respond.

"Good. What are you doing with that?" she asks looking towards the snake that I lazily dropped onto shore.

"Skinning it. If we could make those snake scales into some form of scale armor, then it would prove useful against any other dangers we might face." I answer back.

Octavia gives me a golden smile before looking towards the snake and frowning.

"What's the deal?" I ask.

"The Sword, Arthur. Where did you get a Sword." Finn asks from behind Octavia as him and the rest of the group catch up to us.

"Hmm... If I tell you this... you must keep it a secret, at least until we encounter something of similar nature."

"Similar to what?" Monty asks.

"Magic." I respond plainly.

"M-Magic!" Monty and Jasper both exclaim.

"Yes, Magic-"

"So... you wield magic?" Clarke asks skeptically.

'Time to make up some bullshit!'

"Magic has been around since the dawn of time. It is a universal energy that anyone with an affinity can wield. The first-time magic was utilized on a large scale, was with Merlin and King Arthur."

"So, the stories of Merlin the Magician and King Arthu-... Arthur! Your name is Arthur Pendragon! Just like King Arthur!" Octavia exclaims.

"Correct Octavia. My name Is Arthur Pendragon, the descendant of the mythological King Arthur." Everyone's face dropped at my reveal.

'I said my name out loud and no one noticed the first time. Besides I thought she was only interested in the romans?' I question mentally.

Octavia immediately gets up and looks in my face, asking about what magic I know and if I can teach her to fight with a sword or not. "I currently only know how to summon objects at will, like this sword." I say as I grab the sword and put it into my inventory. Which for them, looks like it just disappeared into thin air. "And yes, Octavia, I will teach you how to fight with a sword." At that she begins to jump up and down in joy before leaning up and pecking a small kiss on my cheek.

"T-That was for saving me, okay?!" she says as she blushes.

"So... magic is real?!" Clarke questions again.

"Yep!" I say back.

"Wait... are all the monsters real also, like werewolves, vampires, and such." Finn asks.

"Now? I don't know? I knew they existed back then... it is possible that some werewolves and vampire's survived, but a lot of the other supernatural races most likely died out when the bombs fell." I tell them, half-lying and half-telling the truth.

After a little while though Clarke informs us that we need to get back on track and continue on to Mount Weather despite now knowing that magic exists. All I can think is, 'at least my excuse worked...'

- Dropship Crash Site | The Ground -

- Wells Jaha -

Waking up in the dropship to the sound of whopping and hollering was not something I expected. I walk out of the dropship and see that the rest of the 100 are gathered around a large campfire, shouting and whooping.

'What the hell? Are they cavemen?' I question.

Limping through the crowd, I hear people encouraging someone to take it off, take it off- 'The wristbands!' I yell in my head. Limping around the campfire as fast as I can, I'm met with the sight of John Murphy removing some girl's wristband with a metal rod.

After he removes it, he lifts it up in the air as if it's some trophy. Most raise their fists and cheer, but some stand silent with worried expressions on their faces.

"Who's next?" Bellamy yells into the crowd.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?" I question him. One of Murphy's goons moves forward to shut me up, but Bellamy stops him.

"We're liberating ourselves. What does it look like?" Bellamy responds.

"It looks like you're trying to get us all killed. The communication system is dead." Both these lines make the 100 go silent, but I press on. "These wristbands are all we've got. Take them off, and the Ark will think we're dying, that it's not safe for them to follow."

"That's the point, chancellor." Bellamy says causing a few of them to giggle.

'What? What does he mean that's the point?' I think mentally.

"We can take care of ourselves, can't we?" Bellamy yells to a roaring crowd.

"Yeah!"

"Yeah!"

"Yeah!"

'These people are idiots.' I deadpan.

"You think this is a game?" I question.

"Those aren't just our friends and our parents up there. They're our farmers, our doctors, our engineers. I don't care what you call me. And I don't care what he tells you. We won't survive here on our own... and besides, if it really is safe, how could you not want the rest of our people to come down?" I asked him.

"My people already are down. Those people locked my people up." He says while pointing to the sky.

"Those people killed my mother for the crime of having a second child. Your father did that." He says while walking closer to me.

"My father didn't write the laws." I say in defense.

"No. He enforced them, but not anymore, not here. Here, there are no laws." He says slowly getting louder with each sentence.

"Yeah."

"Yeah."

"Here, we do whatever the hell we want whenever the hell we want!" He yells to a slow building and supporting crowd.

"Now, you don't have to like it, Wells. You can even try to stop it or change it, kill me. You know why?... Whatever the hell we want." he finishes.

"Whatever the hell we want!" Murphy yells stirring up the crowd.

"Whatever the hell we want!"

"Whatever the hell we want!"

"Whatever the hell we want!"

"Whatever the hell we want!"

"Whatever the hell we want!"

I slowly turn around and observe these fools, before turning back towards Bellamy and glaring at him.

*THUNDER*

As rain begins to fall with the sound of thunder, some of the 100 shout, "RAIN! REAL RAIN!" Everyone starts yelling and smiling with joy. Happy to finally experience the fall of rain.

"We need to collect this." I tell Bellamy.

"Whatever the hell you want." He responds. I turn back around and make my way through the excited crowd.

'Clarke, where are you?'

--------------------------------------------------------------

- The Ground -

- Clarke Griffin -

Opening my eyes and slowly sitting up, causes me to be greeted with a wonderful sight. Hundreds of bright blue lights dot the surrounding trees. I turn around to see if anyone is awake but they're not.

I got up slowly, careful not to wake my new friends and carefully slip away, not noticing that one of them was missing.

Walking through the blue light filled forest calmed my mind and allowed me to think about what has happened over the last 24 hours.

'First, I was taken from my cell where I had been kept for a year, then I run into my mother, and finally I get knocked out and am placed on a dropship heading towards the ground.

Second, I was living my dream, my dream on the ground, I know the Ark sent us down here to die, but... I can't help but thank them, without this opportunity I would've died when I was 18. It would have been because of them that I died but... it doesn't matter now, I guess. We're down here and there up there.

Lastly though there's Arthur, at first glance I knew he was special, I-I... I don't know how to describe it really but there is something about him that... grabs me, pulls me in, and forces me to focus on him. I never would've thought that he was the descendant of the real King Arthur! Most kids do get told about King Arthur, but most forget due to the realization that we may never go to the ground so what is the point of learning about him? Magic though!? Real life Magic! Who would have thought I certainly wouldn't of-...' I was cut off in my thinking by the sound of grunting coming from in front of me behind a tree.

Peeking around the tree causes my face to flush red and almost makes me hide back behind the tree in embarrassment, but I continue watching as Arthur, shirtless, continuously slashes, and stabs with his sword. His muscular chest rises and falls with each sword slash or stab, his feet are planted and unmoving. 'H-He looks perfect.' I can't help but think. While caught up in my thoughts I hadn't noticed my feet slowly moving towards him until I accidentally stepped on a branch.

*SNAP*

*SNAP*

I spun around at the sound of a branch breaking behind me, only seeing Clarke there, I relaxed.

"Sigh... Clarke you freaked me out there." I told her.

"Yeah... sorry." she apologized.

"It's okay, but what are you doing out here?" I question.

"I was looking at the lights." she responds innocently.

Putting my sword back into my inventory, I motioned for her to follow. I lead her to a small moss and blue light covered log. I can't help but admire her beauty as she stares intently at the lights trying to figure them out.

"They're amazing, right?" I asked her.

She smiles towards me and responds, "They are, we never would have seen this if we stayed on the Ark."

"No. No, we wouldn't of." I say while staring up through the tall trees and into the sky.

"What were you doing back there?" she asks me.

"Training. Every day I complete 100 slashes and 100 stabs." I informed her.

"Wow! Did you have sword training back on the Ark." she asked amazed.

"Yeah... but it was private, only between my father and I." I told her.

"Oh, well-" before she can finish however, I interrupt her and give her a gift that I may have stolen and gotten a skill for.

"Here, I found it on the floor of the Dropship. It must have fallen out of your pocket when the parachute's deployed." I say, handing her father's watch to her.

She began to tear up saying that she thought she would never see it again, before hugging my still bare and sweat-soaked body and muttering constant Thank You's into my chest.

*GRUMBLE*

I turn my head towards a flushed Clarke who had her head buried in my chest, "looks like someone's a little hungry, huh?" I asked her.

"Shut up," she says though it's muffled. I disengaged myself from our hug before looking around the log for any berries. That's when, though around a hundred feet away I spot a blackberry bush.

'Perfect.' I think to myself before grabbing Clarke by the hand and telling her to come on and follow me. I jogged over to the blackberry bush with Clarke's hand in mine, upon reaching it I could tell that some of the berries weren't fully ripe yet, but most were. I maneuvered my hand around the thorns and began to pick some off.

"Are you sure those are edible?" Clarke asks me.

"Of course, I know they're edible, they're blackberries." I tell her before thinking back on my old life and remembering how I used to go with someone out in our backyard and pick blackberries, after picking them we would go inside and crush them up and make something out of them.

'I can't remember who I used to do it with though? Wait why can't I remember any of my family?! I-I..." my rampant thoughts are cut short though by Clarke's worried voice.

"Arthur!"

"Yeah Clarke?" I ask while grabbing a few blackberries.

"You went pale, and it looked like you were about to cry." she says worried.

"Nah! I'm fine." I told her. Thinking back on my thoughts previously though I can't help but wonder did the system erase my memory of my family? I can understand why in a sense but... it still makes me sad to think about.

"Arthur?" Clarke asks slapping me out of my stupor.

"Huh? Oh, yeah?" I asked, turning towards her with a handful of blackberries.

"Do they taste good?" she asks as she grabs one from my hand and moves to put it in her mouth.

"They're sweet, with the ripest being the sweetest. It might be bitter or sour though. It depends on the berry really." I informed her.

"Mhhmmm... This is really good!" she exclaims as we start to slowly make our way back to the others. "Arthur?"

"Yeah?"

"What do you plan to do? Considering your lineage?" she asked me as we neared the others.

'What do I plan to do?' I asked myself.
