7 Chapter 7

Serena woke up the next morning and saw that it was nearly lunch time. She had a shower and quickly got dressed and went downstairs carefully. Only her father, uncle William, and aunt Lizzie were in the dining room. The rest of Verdino and her twin brothers were out, doing errands or accompanying Lucia. Hendrick and Hans were nowhere to be seen. Thank God for that, Serena told herself. The four of them had lunch together and by the time they had finished, the others still hadn't returned. Serena decides to go to her grandfather's studies to play with the piano again before packing for the flight back to England. She starts to play and sing one of her favorite soundtracks:

She finished playing and looked ahead at the window.

"Did you write that?'', asked a familiar voice behind her, making her jump.

"Bloody hell, Hendrick.. A little warning," said Serena as she massaged her chest, "I nearly had a heart attack,".

Hendrick chuckled. 

"Well you were in too deep playing it, I don't want to disturb you," said Hendrick, "You're amazing, did you write that?,".

"Huh? You think I wrote that?," Serena laughed, "It's a soundtrack from Hugh Jackman's movie, The Greatest Showman,".

Hendrick shook his head.

"Yeah, I never watched it either, but the songs were good," Serena replied as she turned herself on the bench facing him. 

Hendrick was rubbing behind his neck and smiling nervously.

"Are you alright?," asked Serena.

"I'm.. I want to apologize about barging into your room this morning," said Hendrick.

"Oh, that's ok, I wasn't exactly naked," Serena replied, her face turned red.

Hendrick gulped.

"I was actually going to ask you something," said Hendrick, "I heard that you're going back tomorrow, so I was wondering if you could have dinner with me,".

Serena's eyes went wide.

"It's just dinner, best friend hang out?," said Hendrick quickly.

"Oh OK then," she smiles at him, "I'll be ready at seven,".

"Wear something casual," said Hendrick, "I'm thinking about taking you out to that theme park. The one that we passed through this morning,".

"Oh wow.. That's awesome. And you have to win me something," Serena wiggled her eyebrows and he laughed.

"Fine, if I win, I get a kiss from you," Hendrick smirked at her.

"Deal," Serena held her hand to shake.

Hendrick looked startled but he took it anyway. Well that was easy, said Hendrick to himself, but he really had to win her some stuff, toys or maybe candies. 

"See you tonight, miss Evans," Hendrick bowed to her.

"You too, Mr. Metzger," Serena nodded, "Oh and by the way, if we're competing and you lose, you're going to be my slave for the night until my flight tomorrow morning,".

Hendrick stared at her in horror.

"I'm not allowed to sleep?," asked Hendrick looking worried.

"Nope, you're going to give me a foot massage until I doze off," Serena replied as she stood from the bench.

"But that's not fair, I only get to kiss you if I win," said Hendrick.

"Well sorry to break it to you, mate, but we've already sealed a deal," Serena smiled evilly at him, "You should start training right now,".

With that, she opened the door and walked out from her grandfather's studies, leaving Hendrick gaping at the closed door. He looked at his watch and realized that he had four hours to get ready. He had a lot of homework to do.

Hendrick was waiting at the porch when Serena finally stepped outside for dinner. He opened the door for her and together, they headed for the carnival. They arrived twenty minutes later and Serena had started to get excited. The last time she had fun like this was when she went to Alton Towers with a couple of her classmates years ago.

"Welcome to Luna Park," said Hendrick as they got out of the car.

"Thanks.. Let the fun begin," Serena grinned at him. 

They tried every game and ride until Serena found out that Hendrick was actually afraid of heights when she pulled him for a ride on the roller coaster. 

"That's suicide," said Hendrick shaking his head.

"Oh come on.. You're going to overcome your fear, Hendrick," Serena tried to coax him, "I mean it's not that high when you look from here,".

"Are you kidding me? What if you were thrown out? I mean, have you seen that movie Final Destination?," asked Hendrick, looking pale.

"Ooooo.. I love that movie," Serena replied as she pulled him towards the queue. 

"Serena..," Hendrick groaned.

They waited for their turn and went the roller coaster moves in front of them carrying other passengers, his eyes went wide and his mouth gaping. 

"This is a bad idea," Hendrick whispered.

"Well who's idea that wants to take me out to a theme park," asked Serena mockingly.

"Me," Hendrick replied quietly.

Their turn came and Hendrick looked horrified at Serena. She gently pushed him inside the first train and had to strap him with safety since Hendrick had started to freeze. She laughed evilly when she saw that Hendrick gulped. The train started to move.

"Oh shit.. Oh God," Hendrick muttered, making Serena laugh again as the train started going up slowly. 

"Don't close your eyes, you can do this, Hendrick," Serena said loudly, "Oh and don't look down,".

But it was already too late and Hendrick's face had turned pale when he looked down. When the train stopped at the top of the track, Hendrick gave a small whimper. 

"Try to focus on the fact that you're the leader of Metzger," said Serena looking at him, "Imagine your men's faces when they see you like this,".

"You're making it worse," Hendrick said weakly.

The train jerked forward and started to go down really fast. Serena shrieked in delight and whoop every time it went into a loop. She can hear people screaming and yelling behind her. The train went into a tunnel where neon lights shone in a variety of colors, feeling the rush of her adrenaline as the train went up and down at a very terrifying speed until it slowed down and came to a stop at the same place where they began.

"Hendrick..," Serena turned her head to look next to her and start laughing.

No wonder he was quiet throughout the ride, his head drooped down on his shoulder. Hendrick Bastian Metzger had fainted on the rollercoaster.
