20 『20』

The last 3 monsters lined up in front of her, the beetle was in the front, the spider was in the middle, and the bat was in the back hovering.

'I guess I should end this quickly.'

Disappearing from her previous spot and appearing above the beetle, her blade pierced through the middle of the beetle's body. There wasn't any time to react, steel threads were shot at Shinju but she threw the beetle using the blade and the threads were now wrapped around the beetle.

Not wasting any time, she went onto her next target. The spider knew it's threads weren't effective, that's why it decided to use it's legs. thought this wasn't effective either.

Shinju had already prepared for this and cut off 4 of it's legs leaving the spider unbalanced, a spiral sound wave suddenly came from the bat, she used the spider as a shield and it knocked the spider out. Taking this chance, she used the spider as a launching bad and slashed down at the bat.

THUD!

It's head dropped to the ground with a loud sound as Shinju waited for the next door to open up.

(Shinju POV)

Dead corpses of the monsters I killed were all over the ground, I went over to the spot that was clean and leaned my back on it. I stared at the ceiling waiting for magicules to start concentrate somewhere and a door suddenly opens or I suddenly fall to the ground.

But nothing happned, I decided to take a short break.

So far, I've encountered at least 5 to 6 types of monsters. I wonder how long I've been here, my internal clock wasn't working at the moment and I don't know why.

I could only hope it hasn't been a week, wouldn't want to be late to meeting Shizue's students. When I thought of Shizue, I glanced at the katana in my lap. It sure was sharp and it's material was great, it was able to cut through the steel threads easily.

Well, I guess I could take a little nap...

...

With my eyes still closed, I woke up due to the sound of rumbling and the floor quaking.

"Here we go again." I mumbled.

I was going to drop the the ground and hundreds of monsters were going to appear then I have to spend a long time killing them all. I waited for the quaking to stop but it never stopped.

I decided to take a peek out of curiosity, this was unexpected yet expected!

The entire are had changed into a large cave that could fit an island and a few houses. That was just how big it was, there was a dim light near the walls giving it an aesthetic feeling. There were rocky small hills covered in moss with fog forming near the top of the cave.

Suddenly, a beam of light was shot towards my face, I tilted my head right to avoid the beam.

What type of monster shoots beams? Looking over to the direction of where the beam was shot, there was a huge moth that resembled a multiple colored butterfly with large blue eyes.

This was the thing I was going to fight?

I pulled out my katana but the moth disappeared from my vision. It was much faster than me, I couldn't even track it with my eyes. Suddenly it appeared right in front of me, it swung it's wings at me and I immediately jumped away. I was only able to dodge it because of my instincts, my eyes were quite useless here.

I tried activating my ocular ability but it didn't work at all, it felt like it was blocked by something.

Before I could even decipher why it wouldn't activate, a barrage of stingers came at me that had substances on it that looked poisonous. I immediately ran left to avoid all of the stingers, seriously what was this monster?

As fire laser beams started coming my way, I had to constantly dodge to not get hit. This monster was able to keep up with me...no I was trying to keep up with it.

It's speed easily surpassed the speed of light, I had to somehow slow it down. The cave wasn't helping either, it allowed the moth to fly around more freely at the speed of light.

Thinking about it, there wasn't really a way to win.

Oxygen...moss...lightning...fire...smoke!

I should star a fire in hope of the smoke to slow the moth down. Appearing on the moss that covered the entire hill, I got into a stance and focused on my magic energy.

But the constant fire beams didn't help, I tried making it shoot the moss but it never did.

Sparks of lightning appeared near my foot as I concentrated magicules around my foot.

The moth figured out what it was trying to do as it appeared right in front of me, before it could hit me, a fire erupted due to the gusts of wind created by the moth due to it's speed. Smoke started to spread around the area around the fire.

It flew away, although it was fast, it was slowed down to where I could somehow catch a glimpse of it.

As the fire started to spread, the moth was trying to blow it out by creating gusts of wind with it's wings.

It seems it was quite effective but suddenly, the moth did something unexpected. It went over to the fire and set itself in flames, before I could even react, it flew towards me and in a blink of an eye, a bright red light enveloped my vision.

This moth tried killing both of us, but it didn't work on me since my true form was an orb.

As the smoke dissipated, what was supposed to be a moth was now a little girl standing who was about 4'9.

"Eh?" I said out loud.

She had long black hair, blue eyes, and she was basically a little kid.

It made me want to pat her head, unconsciously, my katana was already sheathed as I reached my hands out towards the little girl's head.

"Don't touch me." said the little girl.

She even had the voice of a toddler!

"Who...are you?" I asked.

"I'm the moth you just fought!" exclaimed the girl.

"Aren't you a little girl?"

"I'm not a little girl!" The little girl crossed her arms across her chest.

That only made her look more like a little girl...she was quite cute.

"Okay, okay. What's your name?"

"I'm Mothra."

"So you really were the moth..."

"Of course, ugh. Now I'm stuck in this form due to my final attack." said Mothra in a frustrated tone.

"Final attack?" I asked.

Then I recalled the bright red light the moth did from earlier, but this little girl sure was powerful.

"That doesn't matter, you passed the trials. Now I have to bring you to master." said Mothra.

"Trial? Master?" I questioned.

"It's better to show you."

Then she proceeded to lead me somewhere...
