Chapter 39 – Arima Kana maybe a loner

I could see Kana's attitude was different from what I remembered when I last met her, well, although I guess the last time I met her was three years ago. Or maybe it's because of my prejudice towards Kana, which had a different attitude from what I know because I have memories of my past life.

It could be that attitudes have really changed after what happened for three years. Or, indeed, Kana was like this, but who really knows? It was just that I only knew her as a brat when she was still a child, and she slowly realized people distanced themselves from her before she started as a reasonable kid that tried to please everyone.

"Thanks." I took a juice from her hand and drank it while thanking her. Maybe because she was still a child, I didn't think she could hide her expression. I could see her relief for a bit when I took the drink.

"How about your schedule? Kana's turn is over in the next cut." Kana asked in a rather pleasant voice.

"No, I still have another two scenes to worry about." I replied to her.

"Is that so?"

At first, I thought she would be such a fiery girl that she didn't want to lose to me, especially in acting after the last meeting with her. Maybe she heard about what had happened to me. Of course, there was a chance she was just trying her best to become good friends with me.

Well, Kana acting like this made my first acting so much easier after a long time absent, but at the same time, I hoped she would be more honest with her feelings too. But I had a suspicion that her mother made her act like that.

"I wonder if you can help me practice after we take a rest?" I asked her, while maybe taking her far away from her mother.

"Okay, I can help you with that." Kana agreed with my request, and after eating some snacks, the two of us went to a quieter place.

"Okay, I think I can start practicing my line. But I want your honest opinion." I spoke like that right in front of her. She looked at me with bewildered eyes, furrowed her eyebrow, and acted like she didn't know what I was talking about.

"Hm, what do you mean?"

"Well, since you act differently from the past. So I wonder what happened… I mean, at first, you told me that Ai sucked with her acting and cried after we were done with our cuts." I told her my honest feelings.

"Gyaaaa… Please, forget about that! It was a long time ago, you know!!" Kana replied as her face became red like a tomato.

"I mean. That's quite something else after all…" I said while reminiscing about our first meeting.

"Uuu… It feels embarrassing. I'm sorry." Kana apologized, and she looked very sorry as she repeatedly bowed her head.

"It's fine. You don't have to act like this. I just feel weird since you acted like a good kid and were so nice. It's as if you acted like a subordinate who licked your boss for a promotion." I told her the truth.

"Wait!! Do I look like that!!?" She was surprised by my words, and her face was a bit pale.

"Yeah, you may be good at acting, but sometimes your face is quite honest.

"Really? Even though I feel like I'm doing a great job."

"I don't think that kind of stuff needs to be done by someone like you?" I asked her, and to be honest, feeling worried about her.

"But, the director told me I need to get along better with those around me, or I wouldn't last long in this industry." Kana replied, as she vacantly stared down at the ground.

"That's true, but I don't think you need to do that to me since I already know how shitty your personality is…"

"Guh… That's not something nice to say, you know." Kana responded with the face that took a hit.

"Well, we are working with adults, after all. No wonder you're acting like this since sometimes we see bad adults." This time I tried to be nice to her.

"Aqua…"

"That's why we need people who understand our hardship and, rather than doing something like what you're doing, making a relationship as if it's a business. How about we become friends?"

"Friends?..... Friends…" Kana looked slightly surprised before she blushed, but her eyes were quite excited.

"Yeah, that's right. We can become friends." She said with a cheerful voice.

"Of course, I think this will be much better. If there's something in your mind, you can tell me." I told her that I was worried about her. None of the things said in the manga started when it happened, but it was implied that when Kana's popularity began to drop. Her mother started to take it out on me, and it was drawn that her mother neglected everything since Kana's home actually showed a lot of trash around her. Those behaviors make her father disdain her mother and eventually cheat on her with another woman.

It was actually a shitshow… Sometimes I felt like no wonder Kana tried to do anything to survive in this industry.

"Is that something friends do?" Kana asked in wonder.

"Well, we probably do a lot of things together and help each other... Wait, why are you asking this?" I replied to her, but I didn't know why. I had some terrible feelings and was suspicious about this...

"Eh… Etoo—nnnn—Well—" Kana stammered, and I could see she couldn't answer my question. Which made me remember what Kana was like in the manga…

Truly a rude person, a famous, hardworking person and who in the manga never talked or had any conversation other than with Aqua, Ruby and Memcho.

"I see. You never had a friend. Huh…" I said a truth that once again hit Kana's fragile heart.

"Ugh… That's right… What about you!!?" Kana tried to make a move on me. I didn't know what she hoped for. Maybe she thought I was the same as her and didn't have any friends.

"Well, I have some friends."

"Ugh… but… but… I'm busy with my work and training! That's why I don't have time to make friends, and sometimes they kinda distance themselves…"

Yeah, this kid was kind of a pitiful girl…

She had a shitty parent and didn't have any friends. Well, at least she had the money for life, but still…

"Anyway, if something happens, you can tell me you know. I will help you." I said it while Kana's face was red due to embarrassment.

"Ugh!! I don't know why, but this feels like the worst!!!" She clenched her fist, and her face showed that she would punch me in the face at any moment.

Oh, well, at least she became much more honest toward me— a good sign.

I feel like a kind of stuck----these day...

Btw, oshi no ko new episode going really dark and I like how their animated, especially when they show in Akane's mind a bit light when the reality she's so dark----
