Chapter 9 It Begins

============Kuro Pov=============

"Damn yo-" a man in crimson red armor tried to say but was instantly cut off when dozens of roots made of bones that were covered in sharp thorns burst out of the ground and pierce through his body in several places.

"Pathetic..." I muttered under my breath as I quickly used my shield to block an incoming sword attack to my right, I then immediately pushed my attacker away before quickly cutting them down before they could recover.

"This is just Pathetic" I sighed with a shake of my head.

Just then a group of enemies charged at me, their weapons raised. Opening my mouth wide I fired a black beam of demonic light that burnt a large hole through one of them. I then summoned several bone routes from the ground to wrap around two of them, the two in question could only scream as their life force was stolen and their bodies slowly mummified into dust. Finally, the last remaining enemy reached me only for me to grab his sword before kicking him to the ground. I then used my shield like a guillotine to decapitate the man before he could move out of the way.

(Seems that we were right, the second army did try and surround us the moment they got close enough) I thought as I looked around the battlefield.

(Still, it is quite annoying not knowing who these bastards are or where they actually came from...) before I could continue down that line of thought however, my attention was grabbed by a flaming arrow whizzing past me and exploding in the enemy ranks.

"Those two are really going at it" I smiled thoughtfully as I blocked several long range attacks with my shield while activating my Damage Absorption and Damage Conductor skills.

Not that far away from where I currently was, Yang fought, she was currently firing different types of magic arrows at an absurd rate while moving around the battlefield with surprising speed and flexibility. Any soldier that actually managed to get close enough to her for any kind of physical attack was instantly met with a rather gruesome fate, as their armor would begin to glow with heat before melting into molten metal.

As for Yin, well, she had transformed into her true form and was currently rampaging through the enemy ranks without a care in the world. Flames covered her whole body as she ripped the enemies around her to ribbons with her claws and teeth like a crazed berserker.

As she fought Yin would occasionally get injured and over time those injuries would gradually build up, however every time she was wounded enough to the point that she may possibly die from them something odd would happen. As the injuries on her body increased and she got closer to death suddenly all of her wounds would heal in an instant leaving no trace of them behind.

"Let's get back to wor-" I was abruptly cut off when an object moving at incredible speeds slammed into my stomach, it hit with enough force to send me back several feet and crack my armor, thankfully lady Suu had previously enchanted it so the damage quickly repaired itself in an instant.

"Hmm?" A familiar sounding voice reached my ears causing my eyes to burn with rage.

"You...!" I growled as I stared at the figure in front of me, what they said next really pissed me off.

"Hmm...do I know you?"

=============Pov change=============

"These guys are fucking creepy"

A Falmuth soldier muttered under his breath as he and his companion walked into a camp that wasn't their own. The place was filled with guards and wandering soldiers that just seemed off, they all seemed to have this disturbing aura about them and it wasn't because they all had heavy crimson red armor that covered them head to toe, although that might have played a part in it.

"Remind me again why it is that we're the ones that have to deliver these messages again?" He whispered to his companion with a visibly uncomfortable look on his face.

"No one volunteered, so the general picked us at random" his companion grumbled while sounding as if this was a normal thing that happened to the two of them.

"Of fucking course he would do that" he muttered under his breath as he looked at the nearby guards with clear suspicion and untrust.

"Do these guys even blink? They are like statues" that was true honestly, all of them just seemed incredibly off. For example, they all moved with such purpose that it almost seemed mechanical in some way, they also didn't seem to blink, instead they just stared ominously off into the distance.

"Where did the king find these guys anyway? Who are they?"

"They are apparently a mercenary army that has been around for a very long time, that is what I've heard anyway, however if that was really true how come we have never heard of them before?" His friend said as they came to a large somewhat fancy looking tent that was guarded by two of those strange crimson armored knight

"Objective...?" One of the Guards said in a voice that sounded far too empty and hollow, it was painfully clear that something was very wrong with them but they showed no expression at all under their helmets.

"We are here to deliver a message to Sir Raynor"

"Enter..."

The two men quickly entered the tent, they seemed to really want to just get this over with as quickly as they possibly could. Once inside they were met with a rather strange yet fancy looking room that was filled with all kinds of odd and magical looking things. In the center of the room was a large, muscular and intimidating looking man who seemed to be somewhere in his forties. He had dark brown hair and a messy looking beard, however the most intimidating thing about him was his eyes, he looked as if he hadn't slept in weeks yet had a stare that seem to burrow into your very soul.

"W-we are here to deliver a me-message, from the king" one of the two said, they were both clearly intimidated by the man in front of them.

The man who was known simply as Sir Raynor didn't say a word, he didn't even move, all he did was stare at them for a long, very uncomfortable moment that seemed to drag out for hours even though it was only a few seconds. After what seemed like forever he finally reached his hand out and gestured for them to give it to him.

"He-here" one of them quickly and shakily pulled out a letter and handed it to the man in question.

"This guy is terrifying, he looks like he eats nails for god's sake"

"Shut up, do you want to piss him off or somethin-" he was unable to finish that sentence as just then one of the guards that had been standing outside entered without any warning.

"Leader..." Sir Raynor had just got done with opening the letter when the guard walked in and called for him.

"What is it?"

"There is a problem..." and with that the guard led the three outside and pointed up at the sky above.

"Up there"

Hovering hundreds of meters in the sky a figure could be seen. From the shape of their figure it was clear that they were female and the black wings coming out of their back made it very clear they were not human. However, the mask and cloak they were wearing made it hard to tell their true appearance, the scarf wrapped around their neck wasn't helping either.

"Hello there"

"I won't tell you my name because it won't matter in the end now will it"

"Just know this, I am the one who is going to kill every single one of you in the most painful way you can possibly think of"

"You can struggle and try to fight back against your inevitable fate if you really want"

"You can even beg for your lives, beg for mercy, not that you will actually get any from me no matter how much you want it...after all, people like you...people that can happily kill innocent women and children just because they are of a different species don't deserve any mercy from me"

"Not that I will stop you from just lying down and waiting for death like the pathetic pieces of trash you truly are"

"It actually makes no difference to me whatsoever"

"In the end you will perish all the same but...."

"I will give you a small piece of advice"

"Forget about your family and loved ones, after all, you will never see them again"

"In fact just forget about everything"

"Abandon your hopes, your dreams"

"Know that you have nowhere to run"

"Nowhere to hide"

"And no one will come to save you"

"Not even your Gods can protect you from this living nightmare now"

"So just give in, give in and accept your demise"

"However, you should feel honored that your death's will help the birth of a new demon lord"

"Now then...."

"Drown in your own despair and die for me, Domain Of Horrors!" Just as the figure finished their speech the earth shook slightly, moments later a frankly absurd amount of what seemed to be ink flowed out of the ground and began to completely surround the camp on all sides, trapping everyone in a pitch black dome.

"That can't be good..."

"Yeah...I have a feeling we may, possibly, potentially be fucked"
