Chapter 50 The Start Of The Final Battle

*BOOOOOOOOOOM

At first it started only as a small skirmish. A small battle between scouting parties.

*Roar

A few members from each side started to fight and from there it spiralled out of control.

"Now this is what I call fucking fun, hahahaha, come at me you bastards" Yama roared as he ripped a cultist in half with his bare hands.

"Yama may be annoying but he is brutally efficient, I'll give him that at least" Kaen who was standing on the deck of one of the Abyssal Phantom Wrecks spoke to himself as he began giving out orders to the battling troops below.

Thousands of different magic based attacks filled the air, ghostly green ships bombarded the battlefield while massive black dragons breathed waves of fire down on to the enemies below.

In the sky above, hundreds if not thousands of combatants ripped each other apart with magic, steel and claws, causing the bodies of the dead, injured and dying to rain down from the sky.

The battle on the ground wasn't any better though, massive pits had opened up all over the place and from them came swarms of massive insects of varying types. Some of them joined in on the ground battle while many of them quickly flew up and joined the battle in the skies.

Massive golems and centipedes fired lava and lightning from their bodies destroying massive areas of the battlefield, fighting with them were living armours who attacked in formation or used there smoke to give their allies cover. And between all of this people ran in an out carrying injured to safe areas where they could be healed safely, while Harbingers constantly attacked key enemy leaders and spread even more chaos through their forces.

*RRRRRROOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRR

A massive roar thundered out as the ground shook violently, moments later a massive bear covered in black tendrils made it's way through the battle field while shooting beams from it's eyes, it's facial expression also showed both a large amount of malice as well as excitement.

"This is getting out of hand" Elizabeth said while she floated high in the sky a little away from the battle that had been raging for a while now. Standing next to her was Fuyuko who simply crossed her arms in response while looking forward with a calm expression.

"This is all part of the plan we came up with before hand, so you don't have to worry too much about it for now"

"I do wonder how the other battle fields are going at the moment though" Elizabeth hummed as she thought.

This was not the only battle happening, infact there were several happening all across the borders between the two armies. The cult had build quite a few defences but one by one they were destroyed and dismantled, this was partially caused by there confusion. They were being attacked by not only the Abyss and the former slave that had allied themselves with their enemies but also they were being attacked by what they perceived as their own puppets.

This was the surprise Suu had prepared over the last couple of days. Using the hollow puppets that she had got from the storage area she had turned them all into mindless dolls, and unlike the Cult's puppets these dolls didn't have an intelligent soul trapped inside of them, they only had very simple souls with no real consciousness of their own. This was done because Suu wanted to use them as cannon fodder and giving them sentience would just be down right cruel.

"I only hope we can push through and help the Queen before anything happens to her" Elizabeth said while letting out a long sigh.

"That is one point where I agree with you completely. The mistress may be exstrimly strong, however, she has an odd habit of getting herself into trouble and because of her immortality she often seems to become rather reckless in battle without even realising it sometimes"

"Yeah...let us quickly get this rather unpleasant situation finished before something unfortunate happens" Elizabeth spoke now sounding even more worried.

"Agreed"

===========Suu pov============

(Why do I feel like someone just jinxed me?) I thought while flapping my wings in my small Phoenix form before quickly shaking my head.

(Anyway, I never expected I'd like flying so much) I hummed quietly while feeling the cold wind go through my feathers.

(And thanks to my new skills I don't have to worry about drawing too much attention to myself, after all, a giant bird with a three hundred foot wing span isn't exactly what I would call subtle)

I was currently flying high above the last of the cults bases close to the top of the barrier that surrounded the whole island. The massive structure was made up of two roughly circular walls that surrounded a massive castle in the centre, however, what made the place seem so damn annoying to attack was that the whole place was surrounded by large and incredibly deep canyons that made it very difficult to attack with a land based army. These canyons were also some what fortified and they had defensive structures built into there walls making it hard to attack from the underground tunnels as well.

(This place looks like if an incredibly paranoid warden decided that it would be a great idea to build a prison that was designed to look like a castle out of a fantasy book) I thought to myself as I continue to observe the place while taking note of anything of interest.

(It's actually kind of reminds me of the nest that Elizabeth had sent up, well, it reminds me of how fortified and frankly difficult it would be to attack the place if you were unprepared) while thinking this I remembered back to my little visit to the nest that the Hive had made deep inside the island.

==========Flashback===========

I was currently walking down one of the underground tunnel, just a little in front of me was Elizabeth. As we walked it was rather clear to me that she was trying to act as calm and refined as she normally is, however, her quickened foot steps and the ever slight skip she had as she walked gave away her excitement which I honestly found a little cute.

(god, I really am acting like a proud mother, aren't I?) I thought to myself before quickly repressing that idea as I found it too embarrassing to admit it to myself.

"We almost there?" I asked trying to forget that thought I just had.

"Yes my queen, it's not far now"

As we continued I began to notice a strange wax like material on the walls of the tunnel, thankfully I could see in the dark or it would have been hard to notice this. At first there was only small patches but eventually those patches began to grow and grow until the entire tunnel was completely covered in this wax. It didn't take me long however to figure out just what exactly had made this stuff because it was around this time that we entered into a large open space.

"So...this is it?" I asked slightly stunned at the sight.

"Yep"

In front of me was a gigantic cavern that could easily fit a football stadium in side and still have space for more stuff. The whole cavern was not only covered in the wax but was also filled with the echoes of buzzing noises that were obviously caused by the thousands of massive insect that swarmed around the place. If someone with a fear of insects found themselves here they would probably cough up blood before dying of fear.

"This place is way digger then I thought it would be... how did you actually manage to make all of this so damn fast? I mean you haven't been alive for all that long in the first place" I asked as I looked around the massive carved out cavern while taking note of all the tunnels and hole that littered the walls and ceiling.

"It's all thanks to you my queen, without your gracious gifts that you sent us we would have never been able to expand so quickly" Elizabeth said happily while looking as if she wanted to be praised.

"Good job I guess, I mean I'm just a little taken aback at how much you managed to do in such a short time"

(Damn... I may have gone a little overboard when making these guys, not only can they multiply incredibly quickly but they can build stuff like this in such a small amount of time)

==========Flashback over===========

"Well anyway, I think it is time I get started" I said out loud to myself, I had to admit that it was a bit strange considering I was in my Phoenix form at this moment and seeing a small talking bird would be a little odd even for this world standards.

Quickly flying over the castle but high enough so that I wouldn't be seen by anyone, I then sent a message through thought communication to the two Wraiths that I had brought with me saying Code 1 level green, which basically ment that they could begin the mission I had given them before hand. I then stealthily flew down towards the castle, not before saying a quick prayer to all the cultist that had the horrible misfortune of running into that...that thing.

"I honestly feel bad for them but...well, they deserve it and I'm not one to get in the way of justice...even if that justice involves releasing a monstrosity upon a group of emotionless bastards" I honestly never thought I would say that sentence but here we are.

"Now then..." I slowly said as I became more serious.

"It's about damn time I put an end to this fucking war"
