22 The horror house

The Balak Kingdom, located in the south of the Heaven Dou Empire, bordered the Star Dou forest on its southern part. It was one of the four great kingdoms under the government of the Heaven Dou Empire.

They acted like how a colony would back on Earth but, here the people of the colony, were given the same treatments as that of a normal citizen.

Even among the four great kingdoms of the Heaven Dou Empire, Balak Empire had the strongest military strength. The main reason was that it was the closest to the Star Dou Forest and the Heaven Dou Empire was not a fan of them.

On the surface, it looked as if all of the four great kingdoms of the Heaven Dou Empire were fully under the control of the empire but that was not the case. They acted like states with the nation and had long since become independent.

If someday, Heaven Dou Empire were to fall they would not have any problems fending off for themselves. If the Heaven Dou Empire did not control a large number of troops, perhaps a civil war would have happened a very long time ago.

On the other side, the Star Luo Empire had the same problem. Both the forces looked strong but in reality, both were in decline.

Within the Balak Kingdom, there were two of the most important cities which was the reason that it was able to fend for itself.

One was the capital city of the kingdom called Balake City. It was the center of the politics and industry of the kingdom. The other was called Suotuo City, which was responsible for all the supply of food throughout the whole kingdom.

Suotuo City was also a large city, and a very important one too. It could be seen easily as the Spirit Hall had put one of its four Bishop to handle its matters there.

When the sun was blazing fiercely, 3 people entered from the northern gates of the city. One seemed to be a man of no more than 25 years while the other two were kids looking no more than 10 years old, one boy and one girl.

The man wore a black suit with a white shirt and black tie. While the little boy wore simple plains clothes, a pale blue fresh attire. The girl, however, wore a small pink dress.

" Finally, we reached this city. Grandpa, you are so mean! Could you have not just brought us here by flying?", the little girl complained.

" No, I am just here to watch you. Until and unless you run into a problem that you would not be able to get through, I won't be meddling.", said the man in the suit.

" That's right. As Grandpa said, he is here only for our protection.", the little boy spoke in favor of the man.

These people were Mu En, Tang San, and Xiao Wu.

Xiao Wu nudged Mu En as she said, " Grandpa, my little heart cannot handle so much stress. Please let's find a hotel to rest."

Mu En looked at her pleading and said, " You do that. I have some other work to do."

Then he headed towards the Shrek Academy without looking back.

Mu En looked at the run-down building in front of him with twitching eyes.

He knew that the situation of the academy was pretty bad but this was something he did not expect.

The building was not in an ideal position at all. There were spider webs on the corners. Moss and plants were growing in the building. With mouse big as a dog and cockroaches as big as a cat.

It was like a horror house.

If one did not have a very good heart, they will probably die here. It is no wonder that this academy never made for normal students.

He entered the building as he looked around the horror house. Not long after an old man appeared in front of him.

" Who are you?", asked the old man.

" I am here to meet the dean. Take me to meet him." Mu En replied.

" Alright, I will lead the way. Follow this young lord." The old man walked inside the building.

When Mu En heard that he wanted to laugh. This old man was calling himself a young lord, everyone would want to laugh. If someone saw him for the first time, they would think he was nothing more than an old beggar.

But Mu En still held it in.

After a few minutes, they came to an office. Surprisingly though, the room looked fairly well. Very unlike what one would have expected seeing the condition of the academy.

The room was shining and a man with a beard was sitting in a chair with a book in his hands.

Mu En looked at the setting and showed his disdain.

" No need to show off your non-existent wealth."

The bearded man fell off the chair as the book he was reading fell on his head.

" Ouch!"

Mu En chuckled seeing the dean so clumsy.

" You did not need to do such a thing. I am here to become a teacher."

The bearded man cleaned off his non-existent dirt from his shoulder as he tried to look dignified in front of Mu En.

" I am Flander. The dean of this academy. I am telling you, the qualifications must be high to join..."

Mu En interrupted him midway by throwing a pouch of gold.

Flander's behavior changed instantly as he looked at the pouch of gold in his hands like a dog who got its bone.

" You are in, you are in.."

The old man at the side of Mu En sighed as he shook his head. He turned to Mu En and looked at him with inquiring eyes.

" You seem to have done plenty of research on the dean."

Mu En smiled towards him as he said " Yes yes,...are you staff here?"

The old man shook his head as he clarified " No no, I am not. I am a student here. It's just that my beard grows too fast and I have natural white hair so I look like an old man."

Mu En patted his shoulder as he said, " It must be hard for you...young man?"

" Oh, my name is Oscar."

" Then, nice meeting you Oscar. My name is Mu En but you can me old man if you'd like."

Oscar looked at him with a confused face. Mu En seeing that just laughed and said " Haha, no need to be confused. I am a lot more old than you think."

Seeing that Mu En did not want to elaborate, Oscar did not stay on the same topic.

" So Old man, what can you do?"

" A lot of things... I will tell you some other time. Now let's go and build a house."

Oscar was once again confused " But there is room available."

Mu En hugged Oscar neck from the side as he said " I am not staying at this hell hole. Come on, let's build a house with wood. It will be fun."

Oscar's eyes shined as he said eagerly " Will you build one for me too?"

" Haha, sure sure, let's go."

Mu En and Oscar let the office leaving Flander who had blackface. Flander cursed inwardly,' Peasants, don't understand the value of money!'

But as he looked at the pouch of money he had with him, his face got better.

' This is life!'
