38 Chapter 7

" All right let's do this!"

Joseph ran utilizing every ounce of energy in his body.

" I haven't heard an explosion for some time now...I hope that bird isn't somewhere near me. "

Even though he wasn't sure if the bird was watching him, he ran while taking sudden turns and twists.

He didn't want to have a predictable pattern of running which would make it easier for the bird to catch him.

He tried to be as unpredictable as possible.

He also circled a few trees to use it as an opportunity to see if the bird was behind him.

" I haven't seen it till now. That is good news."

Joseph did the same thing for some more time before he decided to run straight.

" I cannot waste more time being paranoid. I need to get out of this forest as fast as possible!"

Suddenly he saw a big shadow cover him for a moment before shooting forward.

" Huh?"

Joseph turned his head upwards to see the green bird that was after his life.

" Shit! Shit! Shit!" Joseph cursed as ran with all his might.

However, the being that he was trying to run away from was not just some bird but the bird that stood at the top among the speed type spirit beasts.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it was the God of Speed among spirit beasts.

"Kyiiaaah!"

The Emerald Demon Bid shrieked and dived towards Joseph.

" It's really fast!"

Joseph realized that he had greatly underestimated the speed of the Emerald Demon Bird.

" You damn spider! I will get you this time!"

Emerald Demon Bird said as it got closer to Joseph.

" Huh?"

Joseph dodged its attempt to pin him. It caused it to crash land on its beak.

" Oww!"

" This! How can this happen!"

For any bird, its beak was its pride. The beak was everything to it. Seeing it crack due to the strain caused on it by the land, the Emerald Demon Bird roared.

" I didn't know it can roar," muttered Joseph before running away once again.

" I need to get out. Fast!"

Three-Eyed Golden Lion.

He was the pride of the Star Dou Forest. He was called the great protector. The Three-Eyed Golden Lion could control destiny.

Using this ability he helped the spirit beasts of the Star Dou Forest progress with leaps and bounds. It was the most valuable asset of the Star Dou Forest.

The strongest spirit beast Di Tian who was 600,000 years old had once claimed that the life of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion was more valuable than his own.

Do Tian made this statement not long ago when a mad spirit beast tried to kill the Three-Eyed Golden Lion. He subjected the spirit beast to horrible torture and hung it on a tree for display so that any other spirit beast will not make such a decision once again.

Due to this incident, every spirit beast made sure that they were at least 6 meters away from the Three-Eyed Golden Lion.

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion was depressed because of this. He didn't want to be so lonely. He loved the spirit beasts of the forest and wanted to have a good relationship with everyone.

After the incident, it tried to make some friends however it failed to do so.

Not too long ago, he found a group of wolves, they seemed fun and he wanted to see if he could become friends with them.

" Hey, guys! What are you doing?"

Even though humans said that spirit beasts needed to be beyond a certain cultivation age to be intelligent, it was not the same case for spirit beasts.

Sure intelligence was also needed to make a conversation, but every spirit beast could carry out basic conversation, they could speak of simple things.

The wolves didn't run away after seeing him immediately.

This made him smile.

' Those lonely days are now beyond me! Hehe!'

He was feeling happy. He couldn't help but make weird sounds while laughing.

However just as he approached them, suddenly wind around the area went crazy.

" What's happening?"

A green bird appeared in his view. The bird sped up and instantly killed the pack of wolves.

" What!? No!!"

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion said, his voice filled with agony.

" You damn bird! Come here!"

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion tried to grab the bird but the bird paid no attention to him and flew away.

" Even if you go to the divine realm, I will come chasing you!"

" Brat! Don't move so much! I assure you that I will give you a slow painful death!"

Joseph paid the Emerald Demon Bird no attention and kept speeding up.

The Emerald Demon bird seemed to be enjoying its time giving him a chase, the bird was talking a bit too much.

" Do you know why I let you go? I let you go because if I tried to kill you at that time I would crush you within seconds! I would not have been able to torture you!"

" Just killing you was not enough. I must inflict you pain a million times greater than what my child suffered when you- Argh! Just get your ass here!"

The Emerald Demon Bird sped up and effortlessly reached Joseph. It dived and swiftly captured Joseph by pinning him down.

Joseph tried to move but found himself unable to do so. With no choice left, he tried to reason with the bird.

" I'm sorry man! I don't even know what happened! I didn't eat you, child! Please it was not me!"

" Enough! At the least admit your mistake before you die! Be honourable!"

" A big, bad, strong bird like you is pinning an innocent, cute, chubby spider like me. I don't see anything honourable here! So you better not talk about it!"

The Emerald Demon Bird opened its beak and brought it down to stab Joseph.

Suddenly, a golden shadow smacked the bird and sent it flying.

Joseph who was freed got up and started at the being with golden fur.

' That thing looks familiar.'

Knowing that it was his only chance at survival, Joseph said " My friend! Can you help me? This bird is a child abuser! It tried to kill me even though I am innocent!"
