After Shizue dragged Kaede away, she told her that she was sorry but couldn't help train Kaede yet as she had a new mission to do, but in some weeks she would be able to help her train

'Seems like Konoha can't let two jonins sitting around with kids, if I didn't 'remove' Sakura she would be able to train me, but that would honestly be of little use to me, so nothing too important...'

"I understand sensei" In a monotone voice Kaede answered Shizue, who seeing Kaede apparently 'deep in thoughts' felt a little embarrassed as she was supposed to be her sensei and all

After Shizue's departure the temporary team 7 started their journey of D-ranked missions, much to Naruto's and Sasuke's displeasure, now you may be wondering why Kaede wasn't bothered? for that let me show you the ninja world specialty: flashback of something I could have written without a time skip !! let's go !!

<Notice. Flashback commencing>

After team 7's first d-rank mission, Kaede arrived home and immediately absorbed all the paint that fell on her using predator

"Ugh... I already hate this missions..." The mission was to paint the wall of a house, but with Naruto in the team, it quickly turned into a paint battlefield

'It's so unfortunate that I need to fear Hagoromo's possible retaliation if I kill either Sasuke or Naruto... or else those two would be dead before they knew it...' Thought Kaede as she changed the bandages around her neck (Because Itachi's attack would at least leave a permanent scar right?)

Creating a clone with her skill, Kaede immediately gave it an order

"From tomorrow onwards, you will participate in those pesky d-ranks in my place" Kaede said

"Hey! that's not fair" The clone answered back

Now, the clone skill from tensura was just that, a clone. It wouldn't have personality as this one has, Unfortunately Kaede's clone skill was created with the shadow clone jutsu as a base

'I really wish I had a elemental clone jutsu...'

"... Use the payment of those missions as you wish, just don't send me useless memories ok?"

"Hehe, you got it boss" the clone said while sinking in the shadows

<Notice. Flashback finished>

'uhhh, thanks sage?'

Back to the current time, today team 7 had the mission to capture the legendary immortal cat Tora, and after they finished the mission Kaede had an idea

She offered to carry the cat to the hokage's office and silently muttered to Tora

"I overwrite your name, from now on you may be know as Touka" It was a gamble, but if it worked she would have many options to work with in the future

A large amount of chakra left Kaede's body and entered Tora's and the cat immediately fell asleep

'It worked!'

<Affirmative. Individual Touka is undergoing evolution process>

'Incredible... think about the possibilities with that discovery... and I won't feel sorry for any future teams that try to catch a evolved immortal cat'

Kaede begun to pet Touka's head involuntary, and when she noticed that she asked

'Sage, is that normal?'

<Affirmative. Such behavior turns into instinct, that is caused by the shared bond between a named monster and the one who named it>

'I see...'

Looking at Kaede petting the cat, Naruto was gobsmacked. When the cat was with him it scratched his whole face, but when it was with Kaede it fell asleep and let her pet it? how is the world fair?

Sasuke was curious by the cats behavior but didn't voice his thoughts.

Kakashi was happy that Kaede wasn't as emotionally dead as he thought.

And with such thoughts, team 7 made its way towards the hokage office

(A/N: Admit it, that was a genius move right?)

After the team arrived at the hokage's office, Naruto made a scene about getting better missions and bla bla bla

Hiruzen with a explanatory dialogue explained, not for Naruto but for the readers, about missions and their ranks and more bla bla bla

And FINALLY Hiruzen gave team 7 a C-ranked mission to protect a side character.

"Okay team, meet at the gate in 20 minutes, we are going to be outside for a while, so prepare accordingly" Kakashi said as he flickered away to make his own preparations.

Kaede following his example, also flickered away while thinking

'Jokes on you Kakashi, But I don't need to prepare anything'

20 Minutes later, Team 7 and Tazuna departed from konoha in the direction of the land of waves

Without Sakura on the team to make the stupidest questions so that Kakashi can have a explanatory dialogue about how the world works, and she was supposedly the top kunoichi in the written exams and also a bookworm mind you, the trip was very silent.

But that was until they passed by some strange puddles, Kaede glanced at the puddles but didn't say anything

Suddenly two figures jumped out of the puddle and wrapped Kakashi in their chains, pulling it and shredding Kakashi in the process, they then begun to run in Tazuna's direction

"Ahhh! Kakashi sensei!" Naruto screamed while Sasuke took out a kunai from his pockets and got ready to attack.

But before anyone could take action Kaede flickered behind one of the two and plunged her hand in his chest

'[Predator]' Absorbing his heart and instantly killing him

As everyone was stunned, Kakashi flickered behind the other ninja and knocked him out

<Affirmative.

Acquiring skills [Water manipulation], [Water shaping], [Water conjuration] and extra skill [Hiding in water] ... Complete>

'what? I got his skills? why is that Sage?'

<Affirmative. Skills are stored on the nucleus of an individual, monsters have a magic core, or in this world a chakra core, where their skills are stored.

For humans, however, the skills are stored in two places, their souls and their hearts>

'...Great to know'

Kakashi was about to question Kaede on why she killed the ninja but when he saw her pale face and trembling legs, he decided to not bring that up.

Kaede ran to a bush where she began to 'vomit'

'I am sure the village wouldn't want another cold heart killer from the Uchihas, so I must act a bit'

While Kaede was away, Kakashi explained to Naruto and Sasuke that killing was part of a ninja life, and advised them to not talk about what happened close to Kaede as she would probably take a while to 'get over her first kill'

When Kaede came back, Kakashi confronted Tazuna about him faking the mission and all, Naruto decided to continue the mission because he was naïve, Sasuke thought it was an opportunity to grow stronger and Kaede just said that it wouldn't do her any good to abandon her first outside mission

And just like that, their mission continued
