Starting the fight Kaede made distance between herself and Shikamaru
'Can't be too sure about his shadow range' She thought
Shikamaru lazily threw some shurikens, but his laziness was just a facade... okay, it was true but he used it to benefit himself
'There are strings attached to his shurikens, he can't use this like a uchiha, moving the shurikens mid-air, but that will make his shadow touch mine... can't let that happen' Kaede quickly deducted
Without making any hand seals, Kaede made a fireball right in front of her hand and launched it forwards, taking both the shurikens, wires and the shadow away
Shikamaru dodged the fireball but he was extremely surprised, not only him EVERYONE was
No one could have guessed that Kaede was able to make jutsus without hand seals
But the most shocked of them all was Shizue, who was staring at this with a open mouth
"Tch" Kaede raised her hand, and a spike of earth almost hit Shikamaru right away, but he dodged it, albeit barely
"That is becoming more and more troublesome..." Shikamaru muttered, he didn't even want to be here to start with
"Well, if it is like so, then why don't you just lose?" Kaede's voice came from everywhere on the arena at once, Shikamaru opened his eyes wide at what he saw
A lot of 'Kaedes' circling around him, if you looked closely you could see they were speed clones, or afterimages.
That is a technique Shisui Uchiha was know for, the apex of body flicker jutsu
"Now, Why don't you dodge this one?" Kaede asked as every copy of her raised their hands and made a new fireball
"Shit!" Shikamaru curses as he begun to quickly try to catch Kaede with his shadow, because if he failed he would 100% lose.
"I didn't think I would need to use that... what a drag" Shikamaru said as he threw a scroll behind himself
*Bang*
Just like a flash bang, the scroll exploded and released a huge amount of light, extending Shikamaru's shadow very quickly, allowing him to touch Kaede's shadow for a brief second
Shikamaru then made some moves with his hands, and Kaede also made them
'Sage, is the scan complete?'
<Scan complete in 10 seconds>
"You sure are resourceful Shikamaru, but that is about it" Kaede said with a smirk
"...What do you mean?" Shikamaru asked having a bad feeling about that

'What a boring name... anyways'
Flickering behind Shikamaru, with a kunai in hand, the Kaede in front of him slowly dissipated into a illusion
Kaede actually was hiding in the shadows Shikamaru was controlling, thus she wasn't affected but could scan his jutsu with [Great sage]'s help.
"Give up" Kaede said as she put the kunai besides Shikamaru's neck, but he smiled instead
"What are you smiling about?" Kaede asked confused, but then she activated her Jogan, and leapt back
*Boom*
"Exploding seals and Shadow clone?" She asked turning to a specific tree in the field
"How troublesome... you even dodged that..." Shikamaru sighed as he came out from his hiding spot
'To think I almost fell for such a simple trick, I almost payed the price for being arrogant...'

"Are you sure these two are gennins?" Some random jonin, asked the jonin senseis that were close by
"That is really impressive, I am not going to lie. But I really got surprised by them, I never saw Kaede do anything but I didn't expect Shikamaru to use such a tactic..." Kurenai said, remembering all the times she saw team 10 training when she went to talk with Asuma
She also remembered what she saw Kaede do one month ago, but that and now are two completely different levels of fight, if before Kaede was a skilled gennin, now? She is easily able to beat some chunnins
And Shikamaru? He could not only trap someone as fast as Kaede, which not many gennins could even see, and trick even a sharingan user by using the shadow clone jutsu and a exploding seal
"Those two..." She muttered
"They are on a completely different level than we were at when we were at their age, right?" Asuma asked
While the jonins were surprised and talking about Kaede and Shikamaru, the 'Kages' were doing that as well
"You have some incredible gennins, Hokage-dono" Orochimaru, pretending to be the Kazekage said, how did no one notice it was him with the hyugas in the village? who knows...
"Haha, you also have some very talented gennins Kazekage-dono, the next two matches are both your daughter and younger son, no?" Hiruzen asked
"Indeed... I have high hopes for them..." Orochimaru said, thinking of what Kaede said when she 'made a deal' with him before...
'Kufufu, I really hope you can surprise me Kaede Uchiha. Kufufufu'

"Since it is like that, then" Kaede jumped backwards doing a flip to dodge a bunch of kunais that Shikamaru threw at her
'This version of Shikamaru is so rude, he keeps interrupting me' She thought
After she completed the flip in mid-air, Kaede waved her hands and threw her own shurikens at Shikamaru
They were all aimed away from him, exactly no shuriken was going to hit him
"Dodge if you can..." Kaede muttered as she moved her hands, pretending to use wires to move the shurikens, when in reality it was [Shukaku]'s control over magnetic forces
While in mid-air, Every. Single. Shuriken. Changed their trajectory to hit Shikamaru, some of them had strange angles and could hit Shikamaru even if he moved to dodge, so he had only one option available
"Kagemane" Moving his shadows to bind the shurikens instead of a person was hard, but Shikamaru wasn't going to just give up, his mother would kill him if he did.
Shikamaru stopped some shurikens, enough for him to dodge out of the way.
'I am almost out of chakra... what can I do?' Shikamaru asked himself, as he begun to try to locate anything in the field that he could make use of
As soon as Kaede landed on the ground, Shikamaru had an idea
Moving straight to the middle of the arena, he stood there, as if waiting for something.
Kaede flickered across him, far enough that his shadows couldn't hit her
"You done?" She asked
Shikamaru kept silent, but seconds later he opened his eyes wide
"When did you?"
"Hehe, you think I would fall for something so simple? Also, you should really look where you are stepping next time" Kaede replied with a smirk
Hitting her foot at the ground, Shikamaru's legs were wrapped by earth, and what only some very observant ninjas saw, was that she covered the hole Naruto used to beat Neji, with dirt
"Sigh... I give up" Shikamaru conceived, knowing that he lost when Kaede captured him, as he didn't have any way to leave by force and neither did he have anything near him to substitute with
This was a very surprising fight, because of both sides, no one would believe that these two were gennins, that is... until they saw the next fights...
