A Mistake

What have I done?

I'm not supposed to sleep with Christian! I don't like him!!

Worse, he's Billie's brother.

I just slept with my best friend's brother.

Shit.

I start to pull my hair hard as I walked out of the room.

This is the biggest mistake I've ever made.

Outside the room was a mess. Everywhere was littered, the whole hall leading to the living room was trashed. Bodies were lying everywhere but not dead ones though. Passed out people who had probably drank more than they should have.

The kitchen was also trashed.

"Christian would have to call over a cleaner in order to clean this mess up."

I walked into the kitchen and poured myself tap water.

I felt flushed and highly embarrassed for what happened last night.

A door opens and closes and I see Christian walking towards me.

"We need to talk." I say immediately.

"I'm listening." He walks to the fridge and grabs a bottle of water.

"Last night should never have happened."

He takes a gulp from the water. "Why shouldn't it have happened?"

Is this guy seriously kidding me?

"Christian, I was drunk." I state as a matter of fact. "I didn't know what I was doing and I did things I shouldn't have done."

He drops the bottle on the counter and turns to me.

"So you regret it?" He asks.

"Yes." I answered without missing a beat.

He looked taken aback for a split second. I could have imagined it.

"All that happened, all that we did, if we're to do it again, you won't?"

"How do you expect me to do something I regret again?" I ask him back. "I didn't even remember at first. Although it may be the alcohol at first, if I did love it, it would have been an unforgettable night." I explained.

He chuckles. "Wow."

"What's funny?"

"You're the first person to tell me I'm worthless."

"I'm not one of your quests Christian."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm not one of those toys you can just call over for a quick night and they'd come running." He stares at me clearly perplexed. "I'm not one of those girls who you can just sleep with Christian. It was a mistake. A mistake that should never have happened."

"And now that it has happened?"

"It will never happen again." I replied.

"And how are you sure about that?" He mumbled.

"Because it's us Christian. We don't like each other so why would we want to do something that stupid again."

He cocked an eyebrow "Stupid?"

"Stop acting like you don't know what I mean. I've done so many stupid things in life but I feel this is the height of it." I muttered. "What happened shouldn't have happened. We can't ever let it happen again. Billie can't even find out about this."

"And why can't she?" He asks.

What is wrong with this boy this morning?

"Are you insane? You want her to faint?"

"It's not like we did something bad or immoral." He shrugs.

"What we did was more than immoral." I argued. "I slept with my best friend's brother. Do you know I'm many lines I've crossed with just that?"

"I think you're clearly overreacting."

"Really Christian? I'm overreacting? I don't know why you aren't fazed by all this. I don't understand why you aren't bothered with all this." I wave my hand around in irritation.

"Because I don't see the big deal in this." He answered. "We had great sex, and I'm very sure you can't deny that. It's not like we did anything bad and it isn't like you were a virgin."

"This isn't about virginity Christian." My voice was starting to rise. I was seriously starting to get frustrated because he wasn't taking this seriously.

"Then it's about what?" So was his voice.

"We slept together." I stated. "We made a huge mistake and-"

"You keep repeating the goddamn same thing over and over again." He snapped and I kept quiet. "It was a mistake, it was a mistake, it's the same thing over and over." He stares at me clearly as frustrated as I was. "I never thought of you as one of my quests. I don't even understand what you mean by that." He voiced. "What we had yesterday… what we did…" His voice cracked a little. "I regret nothing. And I swear I'd do it over and over again if I was ever given the chance."

I don't know when my hand went across his face. It was the sound I heard and the silence that followed that made me realize what I had done. It may have been my anger, my embarrassment, I don't even know anymore. But I know I was blinded by more embarrassment than anger.

I had slept with Christian Sinclair. Of all people to sleep with. Of all people to spend a night with. It just had to be him.

My best friend's brother of all people. The person I hated the most.

Then I was angry because he was nonchalant about the whole situation. I was freaking out here, while he seemed laid back about it.

He should be panicking with me. His mind should be jumbled like mine. But he seemed so relaxed.

Like he just had s*x with one of his chicks who come running to him at his call.

The door opens behind us, followed by a yawn. "What are you guys arguing all about early in the morning?" Came Billie's sleepy voice.

I couldn't explain the way Christian stared at me. Maybe he was probably surprised that I slapped him, or he was just perplexed.

When none of us speaks up, Billie continues. "What are these people still doing here?" She yawns again. "Do you still have that air horn?" She asks Christian.

"I think I need to go." He mumbled and walked out of the house, slamming the door behind him.

"What's wrong?" Billie breaks the silence. "What did you guys argue about?"

I sighed and turned to her. "Nothing." I managed to smile. "What were you looking for again?"

She stares at the door. "An air horn." She faces me. "Not sure if you'd know where it is anyway." She walks into the kitchen and towards the first cupboard she touched. "It should be in one of these."

After going through three, she finally finds it. She brings it out and presses the handle so loud, I'm sure people at the top most floor would hear it.

They all started to wake up. Some grumbled, some groaned, others threw out curses.

"Time to go, people! Party's over!!" She claps her hand and opens the front door for them.

One by one, they walked out drowsed in sleepiness, tiredness, and drunkenness.
