2 01: Fast food

"Good evening, Ma'am. May I take your order?" I asked calmly to the customer. I could tell that she is on her mid thirty's. She looks like a woman who's working on an office and took an overtime.

"One piece chicken, with fries. Can I make an uprade for my drinks? I want the strawberry, one." She replied with so much authority. I can't help but to feel envious of her. I want to be like her too.

My mother was like her. A fine, strong and beautiful lady. However, universe was so cruel to take the two important people in my lives. Or maybe, the people that surrounds us are the one who are cruel and merciless.

"Ofcourse, Ma'am" I answered as I type her order on my computer. Not too long, the reciept printed. I tear it and give her a copy. I get her order and gave it to her.

It is past twelve, already. Surprisingly, there are only a few customers. Is it because of the rain? It's been raining for a few hours already. Luckily, I brought my umbrella with me.

I felt my phone vibrated. I quickly get my phone out of my pocket and see who was texting me. It was from my sister—Evora. I sighed.

Evora:

Hi, sis. Naz can't sleep. She's having her trauma again. I'm panicking! She's crying and I don't know what to do!

I bit my lowerlips. Right, my younger sister still can't get over of what happened, three years ago. No—everyone of us can't move on from it.

To Evora:

Sleep with her. Sing her favourite lullaby.

Evora:

WHAT? She's thirteen already!

I rolled my eyes.

To Evora:

Please, Eva. Among the three of us, Naz was the one whi suffered a lot. She was on that car. She was with them. She saw and touch their blood at the very young age. She is in great pain and still blaming herself. That is just the least that you can do. Be a responsible and caring sister just for once.

I quickly put my phone on my pocket. My chest twisted in pain again. My eyes became blurry. Everytime I remember that horrible night, I can't control my pain. I just want to cry again. But my sisters need me. They need me right now. I have to stand for them.

I deeply sighed and eat all the pain inside of me. The door chimes and my attention averted to the group of people who, I think the same age as mine—open the door and creates a loud sound of noise. They are laughing and joking with each other. There are three men and two women.

"I told you! She got bumped with her ex!" the short haired lady said to the boys as she point her index finger to the annoyed lady besides her.

"Ow!" the boy in his yellow hair response.

"Shut it up, Dianna! You are making it as if, I am nit over with that asshole!"

"Frankly, you are still not over with him!"

"Yes! I saw you stalking his social media account, yesterday!"

"Getting curious, Camille?"

I shook my head. Are they going to take an order or not? They are making a scene in here.

"Good mornight, Miss."

My eyes widen as I averted my gaze back in front of me. I didn't even see him walking towards me nor standing infront of me. Am I that focused looking at those people?

"Mornight?" I uttered in myself when I realised what this man said a while ago. I immediately clear the transaction of the fine lady on my computer.

I heard him chuckle. I glance back at him and I wish I wasn't did it since I saw his eyes full of amusement. "Yeah, you know? The combination of the morning and night? Mornight?" he explained.

Oh. Is that it?

I blink. "What's your order, sir?"

He look up and read all of our menus. "Can I have—"

"Karius! I want one chicken fillet and a float, so does with Dianna and Camille. But the my beloved pet—David just want a water!" the man in a yellow hair said while putting his arms on my customer's shoulders.

The man named Karius, shook his head. "You do know, I don't make any free for this."

The yellow guy smirk. "Hell, sure you do." he said with full of confidence as he bring his attention on me. " Two chicken fillet and a float and one water. " he said and wink at me.

I made a face. What a nerve.

The yellow guy walks away and loudly called his pet—his friend, rather.

Karius shook his head. "Sorry about that." he apologised.

I raised my eyebrow. "Should I put your friends' order?"

He blinks. "Uh, yes please. Kindly make it, four chicken fillet and float. I bet David would want to eat too."

I nodded and started to do my work. I invoice his order after that, I told him his bill and he immediately hand out his money. The machine start to print out his reciept and I quickly gave him his orders.

"Here, have a nice meal." I said.

He smile as he get his tray. "Thank you." he said. I watch him walk towards his friends. I even saw the short girl glances at me as she smiles to his friend.

I can't help but to feel envy. If the my fate is a little bit kinder, I think I would enjoy my life too. But no—I don't have any time to think of what if's or any possible things to make me feel regret nor pity.

My time is my life. It is always running. Everything is gold. I should not waste it.

I shook my head. Another customer went on me and start to state their orders. In the middle of my work, a long haired girl went on me. My eyes quickly landed on her and I immediately recognize her. She's one of that loud group.

She smiles and her dimples shows. "Hi, I'm Camille." she said. "Can I have some table tissues?"

I nodded and gave her the brown tissues.

"Cool. Thanks." she replied as she walk back to her table.

I wear off my apron and went to the employees office. My shift is done. I have to dress up.

"Alhiera!" Christy, my workmate calls me.

"What?" I said as I change my t-shirt.

"Your shift is done?"

"Yes. I need to go home. Naz can't sleep. Evora is whinning."

Christy nodded. "You have a little messy family." she commented as she also change her clothes.

I close my locker and pull my tie down of my hair. I pick my bag and get my umbrella. I look at to Christy who's now busy tying her hair.

"Messy is too good. My family is worst than that." I replied her, before she could even response to it, I start to walk away.

I stepped out to the employees room. I am about to say my goodbyes to my colleague when Daniel—my workmate, handed me a brown tissue.

I narrowed my eyes on him. "What is this?" I ask him, confused.

He shrug his shoulders as if telling me he too, has no idea also. "This is handed on me by a shy man. He said give to Alheira, and you are the only Alheira here."

I blink my eyes. My attention whent back and forth to the handed tissue and to Daniel. What is this?

"And you expected me to accept it?" I ask.

Daniel shrug again. "No. but the shy man said he wrote something in here. You might want to check it out." He said. "Here, get it."

I blink. The fuck is happening? Without even thinking, I get the folded tissue and open it.

"It's raining, bring umbrellas with you—David."

My forehead creased. I folded the tissue and immediately scann the whole fastfood but the people whom I am looking is nowhere to be found.

fuck. what a creep!
