Chapter 14 – Teach a lesson

Tang San sat in the restaurant hoping to hear some good news. But sadly he didn't hear any. So he walked out of the restaurant after paying for his portion of the meal.

Tang San strolled the streets of Notting City, enjoying the bustling city life and looking at the goods displayed in the shops.

Life here in Notting City was vastly different from his life in Holy Spirit Village. Though in the anime he saw Notting City portrayed as a pretty decent city just like another medieval European city but in reality, he felt the city was much more beautiful & grand.

The architectural style of the city mostly resembled that of medieval Europe with a blend of both medieval and modern styles which captivated his mind. While he walked across the streets of the city Ye Chen felt as if he went back in the past. Unknowingly he was reminded of the cute little lolita Xiao Wu.

When Ye Chen first entered the city he wished to visit Notting Junior Academy to meet the cute little bunny, Xiao Wu. But he was afraid of getting her into trouble by letting her identity be exposed to Tang Hao. So after careful consideration, he decided to avoid visiting her as he would have plenty of time to interact with her in future.

Though he could not feel Tang Hao's presence he knew Tang Hao must have been watching over him secretly from the shadows, if everything was all according to the original story.

Just when Tang San was distracted he bumped into someone on the road. After taking a closer look at the person, Ye Chen found it was a boy of the same age as him wearing the uniform of Nuoding Junior Academy and someone he was familiar with but he could not immediately recall the name.

After searching through his memories of the anime he knew who the boy was! It was Xiao Chenyu, the tyrant of Nuoding Junior Academy.

Xiao Chenyu was the son of City Lord of Notting city. He was born with a silver spoon in the family of nobles with the Wolf Martial Spirit, so he was used to being arrogant and unreasonable, showing off in front of everyone.

Being the only son of the city lord no one in the city dared to provoke this little tyrant who was famous for being unscrupulous & cruel. But today someone had the audacity to collide with him and moreover he was the one who stumbled and fell upon the impact.

Xiao Chenyu felt the person's body was tough and felt like hitting a hard iron.

"What the hell... Don't you have eyes....."

Xiao Chenyu shrugged in pain as he shouted coldly at Tang San. Even after being in pain, he did not let go of his arrogant nature.

Seeing Ye Chen not answering Xiao Chenyu shouted,

"Kid, how dare you stumble upon this young master. No one dared to provoke me before."

After taking a closer look at the boy he noticed some differences in his clothing different from the ones usually worn in Notting city.

"Judging from your shabby clothes, it looks like you are new to this city... No wonder you look so ignorant!..... But daddy here still don't have time hurry up and kowtow before me three times, maybe I could consider letting you go, otherwise.... Humph!"

Hearing such words from the kid in front of him Tang San did not mind but shrugged his shoulders in dismay hearing the arrogant and childish words of this second-generation nouveau riche Young Master.

He did not plan to entangle Xiao Chenyu and waste his time. He has a more important job - i.e. searching for the location of Devil Battlefield to complete his system sign-in task.

To him, such a childish and arrogant kid was hardly worth both his time and shot.

Meanwhile, a lot of people gathered on the street hearing the commotion. They easily identified one of them being Xiao Chenyu, the tyrant of Notting City & opposite him was an unfamiliar boy whom they did not know, after all, it was Tang San's first time in Notting City.

A vast majority of the people gathered were commoners, they could not intervene in such matters and could only watch the unfolding drama from the sidelines as they could neither match nor stand up to the Young City Lord in terms of both prestige or background.

So, they did not dare intervene afraid of angering the City Lord Mansion and facing dire consequences. They also tend to enjoy a good scene that was about to be unfolded. While some people felt excited to see a battle, some felt pity for Tang San who looked young and new to the city getting into trouble in the clutches of the tyrant of the Notting City.

Tang San (Ye Chen) did not mind such pity-filled gazes of the public, instead, he looked at Xiao Chenyu nonchalantly.

Ye Chen thought for a while if he exposed his identity as the true successor of the fourth generation of the Haotian Sect, the other party would have pissed in his pant but that was unnecessary in order to remain incognito from Spirit Hall.

Ye Chen felt he wasted a lot of his time talking to such a hypocrite. He shrugged his shoulders and started walking away leaving Xiao Chenyu dumbfounded.

He expected to see the kid in front of him kowtow and apologise to him but instead, the kid just walked away as if nothing had happened.

The other party didn't even bat him an eye even after knowing he was the son of the City Lord and had extraordinary status. For a while, he felt his cheeks were hot as if it was a slap to his face.

Xiao Chenyu felt his image plummet in front of everyone. He was not convinced of such an outcome and decided to teach Tang San a lesson so that he could earn back his lost prestige to remove this disgrace off his shoulders.

"Hey, shabby kid stop!..... How dare you leave without my permission? Did I tell you could go?" roared Xiao Chenyu in frustration.

Hearing Xiao Chenyu's voice Ye Chen turned around and asked,

"Oh! By the way, who are you to block my way?"

Hearing Tang San's simple question Xiao Chenyu immediately regained his confidence and replied with pride,

"I'm the Young City Lord of Notting City. My father is the current City Lord of Notting City. Now that you know my identity are you afraid!? Haha!.... Tell you, kid, it's too late to regret now & beg for mercy."

Xiao Chenyu laughed crazily flaunting his background in front of Ye Chen, deliberately trying to embrace him.

If only Xiao Chenyu knew the identity and the background of the kid standing in front of him, even if had ten thousand lives he would not dare to provoke him. Most probably he would have pee-ed on his trousers. But Ye Chen was too lazy to explain his situation.

"Are you nymph or what! When did you hear me begging for mercy? I think you are too self-delusional. I did not beat you up, it's quite a fortune in itself but instead of cherishing it, you try to provoke me again and again. Looks like you are tired of living!"

He originally did not want to waste his efforts and energy beating up Xiao Chenyu and left him for Xiao Yu to clean up. In the original sequel of Douluo Dalu 1, it was Xiao Wu who taught Xiao Chenyu a lesson. But now it looks like Xiao Chenyu was too impatient to get beaten up. So he could only fulfil his wish.

Hearing the mocking of this unknown country bumpkin touched Xiao Chenyu's inverse scales as he flared with anger.

Saying this Xiao Chenyu unfolded his Martial Spirit as a phantom wolf appeared behind his back making his claws sharp like a wolf.

Ye Chen had wondered if Xiao Chenyu would become something like a werewolf after possessing Martial Spirit but it was only his hands that changed to the claws of wolves.

Seeing such a scene the people standing on the road made space for both of them to watch the good show. These people were all ordinary people and did not awaken Soul Power to become Soul Master. So they were very astonished to see Xiao Chenyu opening his Martial Spirit.

"Boy, you still have time to kneel to beg for mercy at least I'll go easy on you." Xiao Chenyu advised Tang San for the last time.

"Too much nonsense! If you want to fight just fight, I don't have time to spare."

The onlookers thought Ye Chen was trying to act cool and pretending in front of Xiao Chenyu to maintain his dignity. They had already thought Ye Chen was no match for Xiao Chenyu.

Even Xiao Chenyu was displeased with Tang San's arrogant words. He decided to not go easy on the kid and teach him a heavy lesson.

"Okay, very good. Your courage is really commendable. But your luck ends here."

Seeing the white Spirit Ring around Xiao Chenyu's body all the onlookers were in shock and awe. Though the white Spirit Ring was the Spirit Ring of the lowest age, the people who saw it were in shock. Only after some time, they realised that Xiao Chenyu had already reached level 10.

The onlookers were all terrified and hissed in cold breaths. Everyone looked at him in reverence. After all, it was strength that determines everything in society. It is only strength that is the ultimate determining factor in this cruel world.

Xiao Chenyu enjoyed this feeling of standing high and mighty above all the people present. Suddenly he looked toward Ye Chen and smirked. As if telling him that he is the strong here but he was disappointed to see the nonchalant expression on Tang San's face.

The more he looked at Tang San's expression the more furious he became.....

Blessed by the enchantment of the first Spirit Ring ability, Xiao Chenyu's muscles began to swell and both his eyes gradually became pale green. He rushed towards Tang San with both his claws as he was ready to launch his attack.

But Tang San remained motionless in front of the incoming attack. The onlookers thought that he was too afraid to move seeing the attack. Even Xiao Chenyu had a faint arrogance, taking it for granted that he already won the fight.

Just when his claws were about to hit Tang San. Xiao Chenyu suddenly flew out coughing a mouthful of blood as he slammed into a wall after being punched by Tang San. The movement was so fast that no one noticed Tang San's movement. Even Xiao Chenyu was puzzled, he only felt a gust of wind hitting him hard in the face before he flew out.

Beating Xiao Chenyu did not even require Tang San to unfold his Martial Spirit. Let alone Xiao Chenyu he could even fight Spirit Masters of level 30 without any spirit ring ability owing to the foundation of his strong body.

The surrounding went completely silent. No one present could imagine such an outcome.

Everyone present believed that the kid (Tang San) would be crushed by Xiao Chenyu but the result was completely opposite. No one present could see how the other party attacked. But what shocked everyone was that the kid they despised knocked the famous tyrant of Notting City without even unfolding his Martial Spirit!!

Ye Chen then paid no attention to the fainted Xiao Chenyu and slowly walked away as the crowd made way for him. They had already become afraid of this youngster's cruel means and no longer dared to block his path. Even the students that were Xiao Chenyu's lackeys did not dare to face Ye Chen.

While Tang San was walking away an elderly man kindly advised, "Youngster, you should quickly leave this city. If City Lord knows about this incident it will be hard for you to survive here."

Ye Chen thanked the old man for his kind intention. He nodded and slowly walked away disappearing into the alleys. He had no plan to leave the city because he had yet to acquire information about the Devil Battlefield. And as for retaliation of the City Lord, he didn't care too much.

For a low-level city like Notting City, he believed there would be no Soul Emperor. He guessed that Xiao Chenyu's father, The City Lord would at least be of Soul King level. Though at present he is not the opponent of Soul King, at least he could flee without any problem. So, he was not much worried.

Next, Tang San decided to rent a courtyard and open his System Newbie gift package to absorb the first Spirit Ring. With 5000 golden spirit coins, he received from the newbie pack, he had no shortage of money and could rent a luxurious villa in the city easily.
