"Gina," Pete called with surprise at the sudden sight of her.

Her lips twitched. "Surprised to see me?" She winked as she took graceful steps towards him.

Shaking off the surprise, Pete replied. "Sort of. Didn't know you were in town." She was barely ever in town.

Shrugging, she came closer. "I wanted it to be a surprise." She smiled. Stopping in front of him, she took him in with his eyes. "How have you been?"

"Good. And you, how have you been?"

"Good. I just missed you. Very much."

Pete's brows narrowed, and his face wreathed with a frown. "I'm sorry, but I can't say the same." His tone was casual and taut, a combination Gina had never heard him speak with before.

There was a slight shift on her face, but it quickly faded away. "Are you still angry? I apologized."
