Christopher made himself scarce in the following days, and Alexa was confident he had been about town with his women and clubbing.

After their little conversation over lunch in the kitchen, she had advised herself to eliminate her foolish fantasies of a man too dangerous for her. And while that has been a bit difficult, she has been doing her best.

Every word he had said to her was true. A man like Christopher would give her nothing but hurt, and she had had enough of it in her life already.

And what could a girl like her even offer to a man like Christopher? He had all the women at his disposal, willing and available women. And she...she had nothing.

"Are you ready to leave now?" Mrs Emilia asked as Alexa strolled into the kitchen, dressed.

Alexa nodded.

"Yes. Ciara said I should come before her evening tutorials."
