1 Chapter One

"Haru! Yuki! Time to come in!"

A beautiful young woman stood on her porch with a smile as bright as the sun as she called in her twin girls. Her lavender eyes beamed with joy as she watched the two laugh as they chased each other back to the cabin. Her fiery red hair cascaded down her back and shoulders, having braids along the sides that accented her soft gentle face. Her pale skin seemed to glow in the evening sun as the girls' laughter grew louder at they drew closer.

Their cabin had been crafted by their father. it had been a wedding present to her when she was pregnant with her first daughter Haruno. It had been built out in the middle of the woods where a large field stood with many wildflowers growing around them. Here, the woman could admire the rising sun from behind the trees and watch it set behind the mountains and bathe the land in its reddish orange light that always reminded her of a dying candle flame.

"Is Father coming home today?" Haruno's voice broke through her mothers distraction of the setting sun. She looked down to the taller girl whose resemblance was a match of her mothers only with a dark Auburn copper hair and deeper lavender eyes. Her little sister, Yuki, joined her side and looked up with anticipation of the answer. Yuki had ended up looking more like their father, with her bright blue eyes and soft reddish orange hair. Yuki grabbed her elder sister's hand and smiled up to their mother. She sighed some as she ushered her children inside for dinner "I don't know little ones. I haven't heard from him today but I'm sure he is still thinking of you kids. You two mean everything to him." She said lovingly.

She knew deep down that he still loved them. Even if she barely heard from him or that he never came home...she just knew. That one day her daughters would be able to spend time with their beloved father. The woman smiled at them as she moved to gather their bowls as they took their seats at the table. She ladled the stew she had made from stored rabbit meat that Haruno had learned how to trap. As she brought their food over there was a loud explosion from outside. The shock wave made the windows rattle and the house shake. Yuki cried out as she grabbed Haruno, looking to their mother as she ran to them "Come on girls! We have to- Ahhh!" She cried out as another shock wave hit the house.

The source of course was unknown to them though Haruno had caught a glimpse of something massive from the window as her mother rushed them to the attic. There came a terrible roar then. A large shape could be seen through the small window of the attic room. Shouting could be heard with incoherent words as another explosion shook the house. The sound of cracking wood could be heard from downstairs. Had they not been upstairs they would have been hit by the fireball. A young boy covered his ears as the dragon roared and looked at his master. "Why must we attack sir? Its just a house..." He gasped as he was struck across the face.

"Silence boy! Only speak when spoken to or with permission do it again and a slap will be the least if your worries!" He turned to his men. Search the house! Take prisoners!" Yuki cried as she heard the roar, making the young girl cling to her crying sister. The woman wrapped her arms around the girls crying herself "shh..shh it's o.k sweeties ju-just...everything will be o.k I promise..!" She squeezed her eyes shut as she heard the men storm the house. Their heavy boots breaking down the weak doors as they ripped through the house like a tornado. Each heavy slam made the girls flinch, stifling their cries as they buried their heads into their mother.

It wasn't long before a large burly man burst up into the attic "Hey! We got a woman an two girls!" He shouted out at the dragon. Their main mission was to find the halfling girl...but that was all they were told.

"NO YOU CANT HAVE MY DAUGHTER!" The woman screamed out. The male looked back an aimed his rifle at the woman "we will take whatever we want..." he said with a cold tone an fired. The bullet hit its mark as the woman's eyes widened, blood trickling down her forehead before collapsing. Yuki cried out as Haruno shoved her into hiding and launched herself at the man screaming at him in grief stricken rage . Another man grabbed her midair and held her up so she could be chained and secured. One grabbed Yuki and did the same

"Pete! He said take prisoners not kill people you asshole!" One cadet called out and grabbed Peter's gun. "He will have your head for sure!" Peter shrugged some as he helped restrain the girls as he looked at his comrade "Eh its whatever Bill. She refused so I solved it. Now. Let's get these brats out of here so I can go back and drink." He said as he threw Haruno onto his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. She struggled against him and her chains "let me go! Leave us alone!" She cried out. Yuki simply balled at she was dragged out of her hiding spot "take me instead! Leave my sister alone!"

"Don't worry kid we have a special place for you..." The man who had pulled her out snickered and picked her up too. The young boy watched in horror as the men dragged out two girls and a dead woman. How could they think this was o.k?! Haruno snarled as she kicked out against Peter as her skin turned to a scale like texture and her eyes were slitted with her anger. Her dragon side was coming out.

Pete laughed wickedly as he looked at her "You aren't going anywhere you little brat...you're much to valuable. I wonder if your sister is the same?" The boy moved forward to see better. The girl had scales?! He looked to his Dragon Master. What was the purpose of taking these girls and killing the woman that appeared to be their mother? Peter rolled his eyes at Yuki's balling an pulled out his pistol. He walked up an put the barrel to her head "Well? Are you a hybrid too bitch?" He snarled pushing her head to the side with the gun.

Haruno snarled herself, glaring at him "no!" She screamed out "my sister isn't like me!" She kicked out at Peter trying to take his aim off her balling sister. Bill gasped as he moved towards them "Pete stop it! Shes just a child! Hybrid or not that's wrong!"

"A child of a dragon or did you suddenly forget that Bill? She may be innocent now but she could turn on us all if not dealt with. Now come on before we're late." Peter growled as he threw her into the cage they had brought with them designed especially for Haruno.

Yuki cried out as Pete yanked her up hard "So are you?!" He yelled again. Yuki sniffled some and shook her head "n-no! I'm ju..just a human!" She choked out. Peter scoffed some as he fired the pistol "then we don't need you. Haruno's eyes widened as her body stiffened. Yuki's cries were suddenly cut off as her body swayed a bit before dropping to the ground. Blood pooled at her head as Haruno screamed out at her sister
