6 Taking The Blame (Part 2)

'Betrayed?'

'...This shit.'

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Their hearts kept on beating wildly as they read the sentence over and over. Their insides twisted painfully as they start to get an idea of what was happening.

"...You can stop now, Kalzic." Emilia pleaded with her eyes brimming in tears. "You've done enough."

"If I grant one wish and ignore the other, it would be unfair, don't you think?" Kalzic replied.

"B-But you..."

'...are losing too much.'

Emilia couldn't continue her words.

Kalzic, the God who could grant wishes, loses a part of himself whenever he does so. He lost his eye. He lost his arm. His feet. His blood.

He lost it one by one and Emilia had to watch that happen.

"There is no torture much more cruel than this one," she had said to herself.

Then if this was her definition of torture, what would come next was hell in its finest.

Flip. Flip. Flip.

[ People who asked for power got what they desired from the person who could grant it. But contrary to happiness, it bought despair to the humans. ]

"My god..."

"Good Lord..."

Liseis and Luther gasped at the shocking sight in front of them.

Disgusting. Repulsive. Chaos. The soil was wet with blood and dead bodies piled up on the horizon to create a sea of dead people. It was all the bad things wrapped in this certain scene.

'I-I'm... crying?'

Liseis could feel a hot liquid dripping from her eyes. She wanted to wipe it but her hand didn't move. It just trembled and trembled some more.

Flip. Flip. Flip.

[ The Gods told him not to do it however, Kalzic trusted the humans. He trusted them too much. ]

"This is too much, Kalzic!"

"Kalzic, please! Enough of this!"

"They are not such creatures."

Fool. Luther thought that Kalzic, the God, was a damn fool.

He wanted to yell at him. But as he expected, there was no voice coming out of his mouth. The moves here were predetermined.

This was the past.

This already happened.

This was nothing more than a replay.

Flip. Flip. Flip.

[ Everything changed. Humans changed. Gods changed. ]

Flip. Flip. Flip.

[ They started dominating each other. They started killing each other. The endless wars began with a human's wish that had been granted by the most powerful God. ]

Flip. Flip. Flip.

[ The power he gave to make humans happy killed most of them in the end. ]

The pages turned quickly, almost furiously, that it made them dizzy.

Then they stopped at the place where the lush trees were burned to crisp, the happy songs turned to screams of terror and agony, and the thread of gods and humans were severed forever.

Liseis and Luther felt unbearable pain akin to being skinned alive.

'N-No...'

'...don't do it. Stop.'

They wanted to scream as they saw the faces of these people.

Flip. Flip. Flip.

The pages flipping could still be heard but the scene around them no longer changed into a new one.

[ Then the humans started hating the God they loved. ]

Their eyes that held anger and hunger for power turned to look at the one who gave them everything they wanted.

Luther, who was still inside Kalzic's body, flinched.

He felt his neck turning cold as the human's attacked him.

'Stop! No! Ahhhhhhh!'

He wanted to scream but his mouth remained shut as if silently accepting the treatment.

Flip. Flip. Flip.

[ The God who gave his limbs, his blood, his everything for the wishes of others was chained to human life of successive suffering. They called this reincarnation. ]

He experienced what it was like to be boiled and burned alive. He felt the knives cutting him to tiny pieces. He was crushed by a rock. Fed to the wild animals. Tortured to death. Choked. Drowned...

"Kuahaha!"

"Hahaha!"

...and humans laughed as they did it.

He experienced death over and over.

Flip. Flip. Flip.

[ Humans had killed Kalzic repeatedly. Angered by this, the Gods turned their back on humans. ]
