Chapter 10: The speech

"As a parent I am really disappointed at this,and this is not the first time he is doing it ,how does he expect our children to act when he can't control himself.You can't be able to control two teenagers when you can't even act like a grown up with responsibilities".

" Its very difficult to agree with your own decisions when you are a teenager. Teens know obviously fire burns but would want to touch it countless times and still get burnt only to end up treating the injuries.

Pay attention to your teenagers, a lot of depression cases, PTSD and many more starts from this age.

Some teenagers make mistakes that hunt them their whole life. Most teenagers are forced to get involved with unexpected happenings"

"If we as the parents cant be there for them I don't know who will ".

"Thank you mam", the police man said as he pulled Kyle's step-dad into custody.

Apparently Kyle's mom has been crying seriously while saying these words. She took kath and injured Kyle into the car and the drove off.

she had to take them to the hospital where some certain tests took place.

Kath was perfectly fine and just had some bruises and Kyle on the other hand had a little injury at his lower lip.

Kyle's mom took them back home and left for the station.

Kyle coundnt say a word to Kath he just waited for her to start the conversation which she did.

Kath: that's some dad you have got.

Kyle: yeah, I must say I am really proud of him.(laughing)

Kath: It's obvious this is not the first time this is happening.

Kyle: It's not, this is the reason why mom left him in the first place .

Kath: It must be really hard for you.

Kyle : I am just happy he is gone now, mom was so scared to speak up first time we had to keep everything quiet .But now it's all over.

Kath: you should be happy.

Kyle: not yet, I have one more thing to do.

Kath : what is that ?

Kyle : don't worry about it.

After this conversation Mirabel arrived at the house. And Kath gave her a brief of all that happened.

As usual Mirabel suggested they all go out to take the negative energy away.

But Kyle refused so she went with Kath .

All this got Kyle really worried.Harvy high had a party that night to celebrate their cup but Kyle wasn't present .

The next day he got a call from the scouts of the club.They didn't want him to do the trial anymore. This is because of the video Bryan exposed.

Kyle went to the station to turn himself in.He said the truth about the drugs and told them all about Bryan and his squad .

That Derek was innocent and just did it to protect him.

Derek felt bad about this and he was just looking at Kyle while they released him .

Kyle coundnt be put in prison he is 16 .

And for the fact that he came clean and released the identity of the dealers he was just given 1 month at a juvenile center.

His mom told Derek to move back in and stay with her.

Kyle made some bad decisions but we can't ignore the fact that his parents played a major role in all of it.

Parents getting a divorce really affects the life of the child. But this is not talked about enough. The parent just move on get a new partner and continue his/her life, or some just remain single and try to be there for the child.Teenagers are really tough and that stage need prosper care and attention.

Kyle's mom already found a new lover and he agreed they moved in with him.

Derek went back to college and Kyle came back after his period at the juvenile.

He was back at the perfect time for his senior exams. Kyle got so close to Trevor in order for him to keep up with all he has lost. Trevor gave him private lessons and kyle had to rewrite some tests he missed.

It was really tough for Kyle in school,

students just ignored him.

It's funny how a star and celebrity of the school ended up with such a sad story.

His pictures was removed as the cover of the school year book .Lucy and her friends made sure of that.

Kyle just focused on passing his exams and getting into college.

After the exams the principal couldn't wait to announce a Party at the school to celebrate a successful term.

One day Kyle was at the music hall looking at the students practice for the party when Kath approached him.

she sat close to him and placed her hand on his.

Kath : how are you doing.

Kyle: I am just here.

Kath: I noticed you have been a loner lately.

Kyle : I think that's best for me, no one can be friends with a drug dealer right .

Kath : we all know the story , and that wasnt what happened.

They are just all mad because they really admired you a lot. You were like the perfect star of the school and you disappointed them.

Kyle: I dont owe anyone anything.

Kath: have you talked to Mirabel .

Kyle: no, but I see her around.

Kath : ok take care of yourself please.

Kyle and Kath obviously had some chemistry. But Kyle didn't want to go further with it, he has hurt Mirabel enough.

The night of the party ,the students were all looking good. It can be assumed that they wore their best cloths that day.

The principal kept the cups at the

podium so everyone could see it. He also told all the players to wear their medals .

He was applauded as he walked down to give his speech.

The whole place was quiet while the principal talked about how proud he was at the students .

After this, it was time for the moment they all have been waiting for, the awards .

The principal brought out a paper and called out the winners .

The most beautiful girl was won by Mirabel.The most handsome, a guy at the football team.

Other awards were also given , like the most social,best singer, dancer etc

Kyle even missed out winning the best sportsman.

Finally the most anticipated award ,the student of the year award was given to Trevor. He has the best grades and also gave the school a silver medal in the quiz competition.

All the students were called out to take their gifts.When Trevor went out he walked straight to the microphone and made a speech.

"We all know I don't deserve this award, we can't ignore the fact that we know the rightful owner of this award. Kyle is winner of this award and as much as I want the award I will kindly decline and give it to the real winner".

At that moment Kyle walked out to meet Trevor .

He took the microphone and looked at the crowd .

And the whole place was quiet, he started by hitting the microphone few times before talking .

"I really don't know what to say at the moment, but I know I owe you all an apology. Definitely we all make mistakes ,no one is perfect .We have all done stuffs the fact that you saw mine in a video dosent make me any different from all of you here. when you are been forced to make decisions you don't want to most times you just ignore the consequences of your actions.Do you want your worst moments to be in a video as well so we can all see what you did ,I bet you won't be able to watch it yourself. We teenagers go through a lot and it's hard because we all just want to fit in the world.As a child you really don't care what happens. But teenagers we want to set a platform for our success and try to fit into the world and this involves various mistakes . I am really sorry for letting you all down.And as much as I will like to take the award I think Trevor deserves it better".

After kyle made this speech the whole students stood up and applauded him.Trevor didn't take the award he just held part of it with Kyle and they took pictures together.

"Let the party begin!", the principal shouted. And the DJ couldn't hesitate to drop the beat .The students danced happily to the music.

Kyle wasn't really in the mood to dance so he went outside to just relax.whenhe got there mirabel walked to him.

she was looking so gorgeous.

This time Kyle had a cute smile starring at her.

Mirabel: hi Kyle.

Kyle: you look really pretty.

Mirabel: thanks, Kyle as much as I love you a lot and want us to be together I have to do the right thing.

Kyle : I don't understand.

Mirabel then pointed at Kath as she walked towards them. Mirabel told Kyle that Kath liked him a lot and she is the right one for him.

They had something and they both can't deny.Mirabel didn't deny the fact that she was so pushy and Kyle didn't actually ask for a relationship.

She claimed she just wanted to date the popular boy in school.

Kyle was just quiet starring at Kath as she walked to him.

Kath had a red gown on , she looked so beautiful.Mirabel left so they could have their moment.

Apparently mirabel and Kath talked about it.

Kath: nice speech.

Kyle: I learnt from the best .

Kath: funny, now that everything is back on track whats next?

Kyle: one more thing.

Kath:what is that?

Kyle: I want you to be my girlfriend.

Kath:I won't pretend I wasn't expecting that but it was better acting dumb.

Yes I will be your girlfriend.

Kyle didn't hesitate to hold her and give her a kiss.And they both left for the party holding hands.
