The Double Date

"Do we really need to drag this on longer?" I asked Lilly

"Only till you ask him to the movies. Come on ice cream next."

Lilly grabbed my arm and dragged me along motioning for the boys to follow. We walked to the ice cream shop downtown and got some ice cream. As we were picking our flavours I noticed Luka getting vanilla while I got chocolate.

"Opposites attract" Lilly whispered in my ear

"Yeah but if we had gotten the same you would've said we were meant to be" I whispered back

She just shrugged and ordered her and Dean mint chocolate chip to split. "Maybe I would've maybe I wouldn't. You'll never know.

As we enjoyed our ice cream Lilly and Dean talked. Lilly kept glancing at me and then at Luka but he seemed perfectly content sitting in silence. He was gazing out the window seemingly lost in thought. His perfect orange curls sat atop his head as his green eyes stared off into the sky. He glanced over at me and I quickly turned away.

"What flavor did you get?" He asked me

"Chocolate" I answered without looking up

"Could I have a bite?" he asked me

"S-sure."

He took his spoon and wiped it off with a napkin then took a small scoop out of my ice cream.

"I'm more of a vanilla person but sometimes a bit of chocolate is all I need. Thanks"

"You're welcome"

"I was wondering if you'd like to come see Night In The Forest with me at the theatre on Friday."

This is exactly what Lilly wanted "I would love to."

He checked his watch absentmindedly "I need to get going. See you soon!"

With that, he left leaving me alone with the two lovebirds. Soon after Dean left leaving me alone with Lilly.

"Well?" She asked

"Well what?"

"What did he say?"

"We're going to see Night In The Forest on Friday."

"That's amazing!" she started walking towards the door "See you at school tomorrow." and she was gone too
