Monday Afternoon Continued

Stiles left that office feeling lighter then ever, with the more pressing questions now out of his head he didn't feel as pressured as he use to when thinking about his new life. Of course some worries popped up, like hunters being a major one, but he wasn't going to waste to much time thinking about them.

Just like other things in the supernatural world they weren't something that he could stop, he could understand their side of things though seeing that he was human up until this weekend. If before he found out about this all because of say Scott becoming a werewolf, then he would have most likely been a neutral side while helping his friend.

He couldn't have been naive enough to believe that he could stay out of it all, but that would have taken a target off his back the hunter way unless he became a werewolf some other way. Which is something he could honestly see himself doing, it would take something crazy to have him not become one, the benefits of being one outweighed the loss.

Now though everything was looking up though as he thought about it all, like how he might have his own Druid Emissary to help him in rough times, that would be a big help. He needed someone to help him out with all of this, he knew that if he went to Scott even if he was his best friend that he wouldn't be able to help him a lot.

Hell it might be worse and Scott would be jealous seeing as he was the one to get the powers and Scott didn't get them, he wouldn't take any basketball games he played seriously. At the same time he didn't think that Scott could handle something like this, he might see it as something worse then it actually was, which it isn't that bad.

Shaking those thoughts away he went ahead and got into his jeep, from the seat he could see the lacrosse team practicing, he sighed thinking about those days. Although the first line wasn't set that didn't mean that you could skip practice, when you joined the team you had to be there all the time for it or you risked losing your spot.

Something he wasn't worried about since he was going into basketball, plus who would want his position on the bench, there were enough guys going for attacker that they didn't need him. This was a new chapter for him and lacrosse was not involved, though he knew that he would need to work around it and basketball to keep hanging with Scott.

Scott would always be his best friend, but at the same time this would put some pressure on their schedules, that went along with the time they spent outside of school working. He was just hoping that nothing would change to much, though he did know that it would change some.

Driving home he went inside and quickly changed before heading back out, he wanted to at least be five minutes early before he needed to be there which was something he his dad taught him. When he arrived he turned out to be eight minutes early, so like a weird person he sat in the jeep freaking out the cashier he saw inside.

He coughed into his hand seeing it but he didn't let his blush out, instead he sat there while waiting for those three minutes to pass. When it did he straightened his shirt before getting out the car, the guy behind the counter who was the cashier seemed to be a college student and he was checking him out.

Stiles shivered a little because it was clearly a look of interest that went beyond just a questioning glance, it was one that was obviously used for one that is meant to be enticing. Shaking it off he still walked over to the guy, "Uhh hi, my name is Stiles I have and interview."

The guy took a moment before nodding, "Mr. G said you would be here, he is in the back waiting for you, just use that door right over there." He said while pointing to the door that was in the back of the convenience store.

Stiles ignored the feeling of being stared at as he walked to the door, he knocked and after getting the all clear he walked inside to see a man in a white shirt in the room. "Hi, my name is Stiles Stilinski, I am here about the night cashier job that you have." He said hoping he sounded more confident then he felt.

The man Mr. G smiled while nodding, "Yeah I remember the phone call. Call me Mr. G, I own this convenience store here, the pay is good to but are you sure you can do it. The time will be 9pm-5am Friday through Sunday. Pay is Twenty an hour though."

Stiles was stunned, those hours were harsh to say the least but the money was worth it, just working three days he was making $480 which was more then he thought he would be getting. "Wow, that sounds amazing, are you sure it is only the weekend though?" Stiles couldn't help but ask.

"Yeah I am sure, it is more watching the store then anything. We might be twenty four hour but that doesn't mean that we always have customers at that time, unless they are here to chill and eat." He said mentioning the sitting area they had for people who made quick meals.

"Wow well that sounds amazing, if that is something I would really be interested in doing then if you wouldn't mind." Stiles said not sure if this was how an interview should be going but loved it any way.

Mr. G smiled, "That is good. I actually called you school earlier today and talked to your Counselor Ms. Morrell about your grades and such. I wanted to know what type of person I was going to hire, and she had nothing but a glowing recommendation for you."

Stiles felt good hearing that, she obviously talked about him when he wasn't there and was glad to know that she was helping him even before they had talked about everything. "Well that is great to hear, Ms. Morrell is a great guidance counselor."

"Alright well I will need you to fill out some of these papers and we can get you fitted for a uniform." Mr. G said while sliding some papers over to him to fill out.

Stiles couldn't believe his luck for the day and was waiting for the other shoe to drop, but nothing seemed to be coming, he was just going to go with the flow for now. After filling out the forms, and getting his ID scanned he went and got fitted for a shirt for 'Gilbert's Gas Station/Convenience Store' it was lime green and ugly, but it was his.

After getting to know he could drink as many slushies as he pleased and could have up to two meals he took off, it was getting later and his dad would be home soon. He still was going to train with him tonight, thankfully he had no Monday homework so he could work tonight on more magic, hopefully Marin would have something for him tomorrow.

When he reached the house it was the same time that his father did, "Hey son are you just making it back? Were you hanging out with Scott?" He asked while getting out his cruiser.

"Nope. I called about that job Sunday, got the interview today, and was just hired moments ago. I work nights Friday-Sunday from 9pm-5am every weekend." He said not being able to keep the smile off his face as he explained the free meals he would get along with his pay.

"Well I am proud of you son. Don't take this the long way but I thought you would never get your act together, I figured you would be following Scott around wherever he went. I know you are best friends but you should also branch out some." His dad said and he couldn't fault him for thinking that either.

"Yeah I know. Well let me go and change and then we can get started on some basketball?" Stiles said walking backwards into the house.

"So you were able to change into it?" His dad said with a wide smile.

"Well not yet. She wants to wait until I can actually get on the team, for now I will need to keep my same schedule but when I make the team then I can have it changed." Stiles explained so his dad wouldn't get down about him not being able to immediately change it.

Though that wasn't something he should have been worried about since he smiled brightly, "That makes sense. Well go ahead and get changed we will work on you post game and your free throws, those always use to be your weakest, and free throws could win you the game."

Stiles laughed as he went inside, but he couldn't blame his dad for saying that, those were his weakest spots in the game, though he did have a mean fade away. Free throws were his worst thing though, if he was to average it since the day he started playing the his average would be 22% at the free throw line, that is how bad he was at it.

He didn't know what it was but he was never good at them, it was like he got inside his own head as he was throwing them, he just couldn't make the shot. He would need to work on them to make sure his senses could help, if they didn't then he would just end up being bad at them again.

After getting changed he walked back outside and got to work with his dad, his dad seemed to be in more of an active roll as he coached him on his form and shot. He was impressed that he did go up in free throws, but even if he used all his senses to help him then at best he only shot them at 70% nothing could truly help him.

Shooting his five hundredth free throw he worked his arm at as he looked at his dad smile, the man had been counting how many he had made. Out of the five hundred he had only made three hundred and fifty, but it was still respectable, he was mainly happy just to see him working so hard.

"So what is it tonight?" Stiles asked thinking about the food.

"I went ahead and got some pre-made meals while on my lunch break today, we just need to go inside and heat up the ones that need to be heated." His dad said while picking up the cones he used to mark off places Stiles was banned from shooting from.

Stiles nodded before walking towards the house, his dad was still shooting a little himself while smiling the entire time, it seems he was really into this basketball thing. He knew that it was like this because he just wanted to see him play in something, that was also why he was trying his hardest, even though he knew he would get on the team.

After having his meal he went back upstairs, though his dad wanted to watch the game with him he wanted to work on his magic some more, he thought it was a better idea. There had been some things that he heard Marin talk about today and figured he should also try and work on something like this.

He was working on nature magic or anything that had to do with the balance of nature, being a vampire was like being an abomination. He wanted to make sure that when the time came that nature wouldn't fault him for what he was, so he would take the time to work of that aspect of magic as much as he could.

Going into his room he got to work immediately, he took the dying plant that was inside his window sill and started to look at it from all angles. The only thing coming to his mind at the moment was for him to just put his magic into it, he couldn't really think of it any other way then to make the plant come back to life some.

As his magic was infused inside the pant it seemed slow, but he saw the spark of life rush into it, he tried to out put more magic into it but it was making him exhausted. By the time he was going to empty on his reserves the plant still looked dead, well all except one leaf that was going back to it rosy red color.

Although it was only a little part he was smiling proudly at what he had done, looking into his grimoire he saw that their was a page on plant manipulation. After reading the page over he saw that it stopped there, from his magic being poured into something that was apart of earth trying to heal it he gained little control over plants.

It wasn't anything amazing and he wouldn't be using it at all since he was still so weak, but he would use it later down the line when his magic got stronger and he had more inside himself. The page had that in big letters at the top, it apparently was impressed he learned it so quick, but it cautioned him not to go beyond what he could do at the moment.

He listened to it too, he wasn't going to over steps his bounds, especially not with all the information, he was told by Ms. Morrell to bring it in tomorrow though. The grimoire at all times could be stored in his body, which was information he got from it, though he had to unlock at least one more spell first.

As it was at the moment it wasn't that advanced to need to be hidden at all times, which is why he left it home today.

"Hey son, just wanted to say great hustle out there today, do you know when you will be home tomorrow?" His father asked standing at his open door, he didn't bother to hide what he was doing when he was in his own home. He planned to tell his father eventually about it anyway, he was just waiting for his first shift.

"Umm should be no later then four thirty, I have a meeting with the guidance counselor about classes again then I will be heading right home." He answered while thinking it over, the scrimmage was Friday for lacrosse which he would go to just to see Scott in, it was his only chance at first line.

"Alright, well we will go to the gym when you get back then, that way we can see who is playing basketball at the gym. We need to make sure you are prepared, really can't see how your school plays people like Beverly and West Coast but those are teams on the schedule." His dad said while shaking his head, those were schools that had future D1 students but they were in their division.

Stiles could only shake his head not knowing either, after all this time their school was still a division one school after all these years, but they were. Their were kids who they played that made the All-American list that they played, really his school was just a free win for every team they came against, but then those two that were that for them.

"Alright sounds good. I really want to play some pick up games myself anyway, it sounds like fun to actually play again against some real competition." He commented while trying to balance a pencil on his nose, which was not working well.

"Haha alright night son, I am going to get some early sleep tonight so I am rest for those games. We also need to get you some new shoes to play in so we can stop by the shoe store while we do that." His dad commented before he walked out of the room and to his own for the night.

Stiles smiled while answering messages on his phone, which was just Scott texting to complain about everything he did wrong during practice today, which made him roll his eyes. Hopefully he would be able to work it out, he wasn't always going to be able to there to help Scott through his problems.

After messaging him for awhile he started to feel drowsy from the overuse of magic, he went to shower before going back into his room. He had only four more days until the full moon, this was the main thing that he was looking out for this entire week.

Basketball and magic was important but knowing that he was less then a week away from becoming a real werewolf was overwhelming, he couldn't help but feel excited about it. As he drifted to sleep for the night he didn't realize how much was about to change for him, the last thing he remembers during the night was a brown wolf with glowing gold eyes staring at him.

Beacon Hills was changing but the players involved didn't know anything about it yet, the weak but present magic inside the Nemeton though was giving Stiles a slight advantage over them all. What went inside was growing, but only for the use of him, that day he spent on it marking it as his own power source that could be used any time.

In the distant woods glowing red eyes that showed only hate and anger was attached to something menacing as it released a howl out into the night shaking the forest.
