204 Betrayed

The first thing Zhao Wei did was actually go to the horde instead of facing the lone Gren to the dismay of everyone on his team wondering why he was suicidal and hell-bent on taking them down with him.

They were having enough difficulty dealing with Gren207 as a team, and he wanted to face a whole horde on his own?

But Zhao Wei ignored their glances and continued to advance, just as one was coming close to crushing him, he lowered his body, slipping under the flailing arms whilst propping his staff at an angle, right where her feet would pass through.

The golem tripped over the staff and she and her immense weight were sent barreling towards Gren207 like a humanoid bowling ball, their near equal strength combined with momentum knocked her off her feet and sent her creator flying in the air. Thirteen realized his intention just in time and dashed to catch the falling body.

She was however caught off guard by the weight of Grendolyn's smaller body, both of them inevitably fell down like two sacks of rice. Even with this small success the battle was far from turning in their favor as they hadn't even managed to actually hurt anyone from the opposing team.

At most, they've could cross out the least important thing on their list of priorities in their check list now which was 'Save Grendolyn', which coincidentally was right after 'Get out of this place' and 'Do so without getting mutilated or killed'. With the state both Zhao Wei and Jeff were in, it was pretty questionable if that last one was achievable anymore.

Zhao Wei who had already retreated after the first move felt wetness in his hands, he'd known from the exchange. Even though he'd tripped that one perfectly, the impact alone had caused the skin of his palms to split apart on impact. If they faced them head on there was no way they'd survive even one exchange.

Also they had only a few options they could take in this situation. They had three incapacitated members right now not including the currently injured Jeff, escaping to the crawl space in the vents was not an option. Where as they had to maneuver themselves and navigate the tight spaces, these things could pass through the solid objects, the difference in speed would have them caught before they could even react. The only other option they had was stick it out and fight.

There weren't any good options, but they were options nonetheless.

Jeff moved Grendolyn off of Thirteen and brought her to the rear while Thirteen prepared to face off against both Gren207 and the other Gren who fell in. Zhao Wei who stood near the doorway was like a single pillar attempting to keep a tsunami from flooding in.

The first of the Grens arrived, without a moment of hesitation, Zhao Wei stepped forward to face her. All the others were watching intently to see what he'd do. But to everyone's surprise, he actually side stepped the Gren as she came forward and passed by him as if he'd never intended to block her way in the first place.

He dashed forward towards the next one, Thirteen thought that he needed to send a few for the rear to deal with, giving him some room between each Gren he fought so that they didn't lynch him at the same time.

But like before, just as they were about to clash Zhao Wei would dodge to the side, allowing the golem to pass by him. Like this he made his way behind several golems. At this point, atleast seven golems had passed by and were quickly heading in their direction without stopping and were so obviously targeting the unconscious Grendolyn's body. For a moment there was doubt in Thirteen's heart, did he know that their target wasn't him and was using this opportunity to escape by going through the enemy? And watching how he passed by every single Gren so easily, it wasn't difficult to come to that conclusion.

And in front of her eyes several hands were reaching out ready to tear her apart. But then they all fell, dropping like flies just before they arrived at their targets. This scene was much too confusing that she almost paused long enough for Gren207 to catch her and probably would have if Jeff didn't pull her out of the way with his tail.

In all this only two people actually saw what was going on.

'D@#n! I just lost a huge chunk of my strength while that kid just keeps moving forward, guess I can't even take a break for long.' Jeff thought to himself.

The other was Gren9, she was actually feeling it rather than seeing it through her control over the other Grens. Every time he moved up to a Gren, to everyone else it would seem like he simply moved aside, but both of them knew that in that one moment he actually launched several punches at the opponents head like a machine gun, if a machine gun could constantly hit the same spot over and over.

What truly baffled them was the fact that no damage at all could be seen from those punches.

None of those attacks broke the Gren's bodies apart making it seem like he did absolutely nothing to them.
