11 My Class is a Mess

I've been studying this world's history for a week now. As an official teacher, I was allowed to borrow all the books I like and bring them home. I've been reading them day and night with the help of coffee. I had only four hours of sleep last night which is why I have these dark circles on my eyes.

Today marks the first day of classes. I am standing here on the stage with the other teachers. We started the day with a flag ceremony. This country's flag is a horizontal bi-color with equal bands of royal blue and crimson red with white, equilateral triangle at the hoist. Inside that white triangle is the sun with eight rays and a star on each corner of the triangle. If the royal blue is above the crimson red, the country is at peace. If the crimson red is above the royal blue instead, the country is at war. I believe this is the only country that has such symbolism on their flag. No other countries would switch or change the color of their flag to show the status of peace or war.

Mr. Jared, the all around teacher, then introduced the faculty staff to the students lined up here in the covered court.Mr. Jared informed me yesterday that I'd be managing the second year class thirteen. Thirteen is the lowest section in this school. I can imagine being in that section equivalent to being a demon in Gaia. Everyone looks down at you.

Since it's the first day, I would be staying the whole day with my advisory class. I am expecting the worst from them but as the advisory teacher, it is my job to straighten them up and supposedly guide them to the right path.

All the students have walked to their respective classrooms already. The court became so silent that I can only hear the birds chirping.

"Ready for your first day teaching?" Mr. Jared asked me with a smile.

"Yes, I am." I answered him seriously.

"That's the spirit. You have to smile sometimes you know. Though that serious face, you're gonna need that for your advisory class. Scare them a bit so that they won't be so rowdy. See you around." he told me as he clasped my right arm lightly and left.

I walked towards my classroom. It's on the second building at the third floor. The building is clean and presentable. I guess that is to be expected since this is a private school. My class' room is at the far end of the aisle. I can see the door opened.

I walked in and found a group of students flocking at the teacher's desk.

"Hurry, put the electrical wire there at the chair and connect it to this socket here." one of them, a boy, whispered to his classmates. They don't seem to notice my presence behind them.

I silently sat with them while observing how they wrap this "electrical wire" at my chair and plug it to the socket. Well I learned one thing. It's that the weird holes at my apartment is called a "socket".

"Ha ha ha. I wonder who will be the teacher." another boy asked smirking.

"You'd go to the guidance counselor again if it's a woman teacher. Last year, you made Ms. Mei cry." the third boy whispered to them and chuckled.

"Oh boy, I'm excited to see the teacher's face. Ha! Ha! Ha!" the fourth boy whispered and tugged at his classmates.

"Oh really? What's exciting about seeing my face?" I asked them.

"Woah!" the fourth boy gasped.

"What the fuck?" one of them said with a surprise on his face.

"The teacher is already here? It's so early." one of the girls sitting at the corner of the room announced.

"Remove that or I'm gonna wrap it on your neck one by one." I threatened them with a stern voice.

The boys hurriedly unwrapped the wire and threw it out the window.

"Settle down!" I commanded everyone.

Thankfully, everyone settled on their seats though I cannot ignore the fact that everyone here is wearing their uniform incorrectly except that one boy at the back. The girls' skirts are shorter than the required length. The skirt should be lower than the knee but the girls' skirts here are all above the knee. The boys' pants are very fit, tightly hugging their legs and some of their tops aren't even buttoned up.

I wrote my name at the green board.

"My name is Azkel Bulalacao. I'm your adviser. I teach History." I confidently spoke.

"Azkel? What kind of name is that?" the bald boy asked mockingly.

"That's Mr. Azkel for you. If I hear you drop the formalities again, I will scrape off your scalp. You hear me?" I told him off while staring at him coldly.

Everyone chuckled at it.

"Tch!" he uttered in irritation.

"Yo, Mr. Azkel, how old are you?" one of the girls asked, while holding out a small strange pink circular thing with a thin white handle stick. That was in her mouth a while ago.

"My age is none of anyone's business." I replied firmly.

"You're no fun at all Mr. Azkel." the other girl said.

At the very least, these kids should introduce themselves to me. They will certainly participate since by now, they should already know that I have no tolerance for petty attitude.

And so, I made them introduce themselves one by one. They just gave out their names but that will do This class has twenty students with fifteen boys and five girls.

The teachers were told to select a class representative among the students in class today. Apparently, a representative can assist the teacher.

"Okay, now it's time to select a class representative." I informed them.

"You!" I pointed at the back.

"You, with a decent uniform. What's your name again?" I asked.

"Lance sir." he replied softly.

"You'll be the representative." I commanded.

"Alright sir." he said as he fidgets.

No one reacted to it so I guess everyone's alright with that. Judging everyone here, he seems to be the only one fit for that role.

"Now listen up everyone. I have an activity for you." I asked for everyone's attention. I do have an activity prepared for the first meeting in class. I did some research and found out some strategies in teaching. Starting the class with an activity that gets the student's interest will warm them up.

"Which country in Asia would you like to visit and why? Write down your answer on one sheet of paper. I don't want answers that have only three to five sentences. Give me at least one thousand words. Start now." I instructed them seriously.

"Huh? What are the countries in Asia?" one of them asked to his fellow classmates.

"Are you stupid? You don't know that we're in Asia?" one of the girls answered.

"Country in Asia? What is it for?" one of them scoffed.

"Hey, you have some paper? How about a pen?" one of the girls asked her classmates, walking around the room.

This class became noisy again. I guess I should see it in a positive light. Since most of them are stupid, they wouldn't notice if I commit a mistake or something. It wouldn't be so obvious that I came from another world.

Two hours passed and most of them aren't finished yet.

"Hurry up or I won't let you out to have a break." I urged them.

"Bro, where are you gonna eat?" one of the boys asked his classmate.

"Let's just buy some food at the canteen then visit the other section. I heard there's a beautiful transferee at section three." the fat boy grinned.

"Submit your answers here at my desk. Be back by fifteen minutes. We won't do anything else for today but if you don't return, you can imagine what's gonna happen." I instructed everyone.

"That's it Mr. Azkel. Let's just chill you know?" one of the girls uttered non-sense.

I'm tired anyway so I will just take it easy today, go home, and sleep.
