2 Am I reckless?

When Nie Li woke up it was night. He stood up from the bed and walked up to the window looked at the moonlit school grounds. He had a great many things to think about.

He had absorbed someone else's memories from a strange world. Nie Li wasn't someone to be surprised by the existence of the other worlds. Not with his experience. He had been to other worlds, different worlds, but he was still surprised by this world. A world without cultivation, and demon beasts. The second one was a good thing because he couldn't imagine humans surviving against demon beasts without cultivation.

But that world still achieved great things. Landing on the moon, and those huge airplanes were impressive. He never imagined that such things could be done without a lick of spirit power. And those atomic bombs could be dangerous to cultivators even above the Legend realm.

But that was not the most strange thing in the memories. This man's memories, his name was Robert, weren't as clear as his own had become after Temporal Demon Spirit Book and it was also damaged, more than likely during the absorption process. So even though he absorbed those memories he had to look for some of them because they weren't always available.

He was thinking about Ye Ziyun when looking through the memories when it provided memories of drawn images of Ye Ziyun in something called manga. From there he got to the memories of reading the novel called "Tales of Demons and Gods". It was the strangest thing. Having the memories of reading a novel about yourself and criticizing your own actions.

Unfortunately or fortunately for his sanity, Robert didn't like the novel and dropped it not reading till the end and he had all of those memories. The fact that Robert disliked not the novel itself but its main hero Nie Li himself was another insanity.

Considering he absorbed Robert's personality with his memories made it feel like he was reading about his past (future?) actions and calling himself a dumb idiot, reckless fool made him question his sanity. He didn't want to think about the other titles Robert bestowed upon him. Calling his character an old pedophile was just insulting. What he should have done? Look for three hundred years old grannies? He doubted there was anyone older than 150 in an entire Glory City.

He sulked a bit more remembering that. But even though he considered some of Robert's views unreasonable it made him worry. Even now he felt the difference in the thought processes of his old self and his reincarnated self. He wanted to jump, shout, and brag about his achievements. He wanted to save everyone, and punish his enemies severely not caring about the consequences. He was impulsive and inconsiderate like a … normal teenager?

Why hadn't his novel self noticed it? Well, he also wouldn't have noticed it on his own without absorbing Robert's memories about the novel. But most importantly why and how did it happen? Why did his former self, after traveling back in time, turn into a normal teenager?

Why isn't he concerned about it more? Only when he is looking at it from Robert's perspective it's noticeable. What's the difference? Why didn't Robert's personality change but his old self's did? Was it because of Temporal Demon Spirit Book?

He could imagine when traveling back in time having a personality appropriate to one's physical age might prove useful. Because if someone traveled into their baby self, they would have gone insane out of helplessness. Or maybe Book completely erases the personality of the traveler so he wouldn't have multiple personality disorders. Oh, even Robert's limited knowledge about psychology is proving useful.

Whatever the case he is now a teenager with hundreds of years of knowledge. And after absorbing Robert's remnant completely his personality would disappear as well. He would lose the opportunity to check his decisions from an outside perspective. So he must try to think about it thoroughly before making a decision in the future. At least he should try.

Also planning ahead might be useful, especially considering his future knowledge. His novel self too early attracted the attention of the Sacred family. Because of his actions, Sacred family and Black Guild accelerated their plans, and instead of almost 5 years, it was only slightly more than one year before they attacked Glory City. Even though they have won in the end, it was too risky. Not only to himself but to the people around him. And Demon Lord surviving and going to the Draconic Ruins Realm with them was not a good thing.

So he must learn to act more secretly and carefully. He must consider the consequences of his actions before acting. Sometimes it may be needed to act overtly to attract the attention of useful people like Alchemists Association and City Lords Mansion, but negative attention they might attract must also be considered.

And most importantly, how the history of his world was a novel in Robert's world? Is this some kind of coincidence or is there something else at play? Nie Li knew that there were some very powerful divination techniques that could potentially accomplish this. But Robert considered those stories pure fantasy. And his world was filled with such kinds of books. He could not even imagine how could have this happened.

He didn't consider for a moment that Robert's appearance in his head was a coincidence. he could have gone to any other world, even to worlds he hadn't read about. But he came here, directly to the head of the main character. He, the main character! Nie Li nervously shuckled. Whoever or whatever had done this was completely above his understanding. Maybe one day he will reach the level where he could understand it. Right now he will accept it as a gift from the heavens.

In his mind was theoretically the story of his potential life if he hadn't inherited Robert's memories. He knew all of the facts he knew from his life were correct. He couldn't be sure of the facts he wasn't aware of in his previous life but he can check them later.

He wasn't worried about his world not being real. There were many facts about his world that the novel did not cover. Whatever force or entity made this happen, Nie Li would take it seriously. Because it's his life, real life, not some fictional story.

He will try to follow the "canon" of the novel as much as he can while avoiding danger to himself and his loved ones.

And about his loved ones. What he should do about Ye Ziyun? He loved her his entire life and hadn't forgotten her even after hundreds of years. He had never loved anyone else as much as her.

Should he think of her as a different girl than the one he knew and loved? Should he leave her alone? The problem was he didn't want to. He wasn't the same Nie Li as well. He was just a teenage Nie Li with the memories of his old self. Coming to this conclusion Nie Li's face brightened. He understood that there was no way he would have given up on her.

So many times in his previous life he had imagined how much life would have been different if he had been a bit more powerful and saved her. How she wouldn't have to sacrifice her life for him. On the matter of girls sacrificing their life for him. How come the second woman he might have loved in his previous life and sacrificed her life for him was also in the Glory City and his classmate to boot.

What should he do about her? In the novel, she fell for him despite him not doing much. Should he avoid her? No, he couldn't do that. She still needs healing and sending her the method of healing secretly sounds childish. If she falls for him he will deal with it then. There were enough problems without that. Some of Robert's memories were damaged or lost and he hadn't finished the novel so he will have enough problems.

On another matter, the book was tagged as a harem novel so…

"HA HA HA HA HA …" He began laughing heartily.

"Shut up! People are sleeping" shouted someone from the side.

"Khm." Coughed Nie Li embarrassedly. He looked at the clock. It was 4 in the morning so he decided to go to sleep too. He had lessons tomorrow and he had to gather his team again. This time without alienating Shen Xiu. Because it doesn't matter will she teach at a Holy Orchid Institute or will not. He just hates the Sacred family's guts for their betrayal. This time he would try to tolerate them until the time comes for them to die.

He lay on the bed and went to sleep imagining ways to kill the Sacred family members.

In the morning Nie Li was awakened by Lu Piao knocking on his door. He smiled widely seeing his friend of two lifetimes. Nie Li quickly hugged his friend saying:

"I am glad to see you, my good brother"

"Hey let me go, you Gaylord" complained Lu Piao trying to free himself "I am not your good brother"

Nie Li laughed remembering the novel. He looked at Lu Piao seriously and chuckled "No matter what you're thinking, in my heart, you're always my good brother!"

Lu Piao looked stunned and said "Weirdo" and remembering Nie Li's condition yesterday asked, "Are you okay?".

"Yeah, never better" answered Nie Li laughing. He was really happy. He was alive. His friends, loved ones are alive, and Glory City still standing. He is not going to waste this chance.

"Good, you looked like a ghost yesterday," said Lu Piao happily. Even though they didn't know each other for a long time Lu Piao considered Nie Li his good friend.
