Chapter 1: Reading Books

A/N: No, this isn't a mistake, this is indeed chapter one.

This one is on a different initial path than the previous one.

I want to know which one you guys like more. Though, whatever it is, I'll still continue on this one😋

I have more ideas for this direction than the other one, and quite honestly, I like this more. The confrontation with Shen Xiu was a spontaneous decision on my part, influenced and inspired by other fanfics.

I quickly realized that that confrontation would cut off some ideas I quite liked.

Holy Orchid Institute, Fighter Apprentice class

Over thirty students are sitting down and are awaiting to listen to the female teacher as she imparts her knowledge. The students are a bunch of Fighter Apprentices. They are Glory City's Holy Orchid Institute's students.

"I heard that the new teacher, Shen Xiu, is one of the Sacred Family's 3-star Silver rank Demon Spiritualists!"

A few students were discussing softly among themselves.

The attention of the students was focused on the teacher. She had a tall figure, was wearing a lavender dress that wrapped tightly against her body, giving an emphasis of her perky chest. She had a pair of slender, white legs, and wore exquisite make-up that made her look beautiful and elegant. Her eyes were full of pride and arrogance. The Sacred Family is one of the three Major families of Glory City. Because she is of noble birth, and a 3-star Silver rank Demon Spiritualist, she naturally has the capital to be prideful.

As a 3-star Silver rank Demon Spiritualist, she wouldn't normally come here to teach. She only agreed to because her nephew is in this class.

"Demon Spiritualists and Fighters have five different ranks, which are: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Black Gold, and Legend rank. Each rank is then divided into five levels, from 1-star to 5-star.

"A Demon Spiritualist is above a Fighter. We are a truly noble existence. A Demon Spiritualist can form a soul realm within their dantian. They have the ability to integrate a captured demon into their soul realm and then merge with the demon in combat. This allows them to possess matchless strength, which is far above the strength Fighters could compete with." Shen Xiu raised her chin and spoke arrogantly, "Just like me, my demon is a Scarlet Flame Fox."

While Shen Xiu was teaching animatedly on the podium, a man, or a teenager, rather, looked lost in his thoughts.

'This day finally came. Can't say I'm feeling excited.'

This teenager is Shen Yue, the second young master of the Sacred Family. 

*sigh*

'Stuck between a rock and a hard place, how frustrating.' He thought as he contemplated the consequences of killing Nie Li. 'Forget it. It seems like I can only get close to his companions and hope that they will persuade Nie Li against killing me. But how?'

He had been thinking of various paths since last night and this is the best one he could think of with his limited thinking capacity.

'How indeed.' Shen Yue glanced at Ye Ziyun and continued on with his thought. 'It seems like I can only target his women. If only I had been transmigrated a few years earlier, even a mon-, no, even a few days earlier, then, I could have orchestrated a scene and made friends with Nie Li's best friends, Du Ze and Lu Piao from his past life. After the upcoming fiasco in addition to the already bad reputation of the Sacred Family, it may not be so easy anymore.'

Shen Yue decided not to interfere with Nie Li's argument with Shen Xiu, deeming it not worth Nie Li's vigilance.

'There's also the possibility that this is the first timeline.' Shen Yue held his forehead at the thought. Such a reality is even more troublesome than dealing with a reincarnated Nie Li.

"Shen Yue, are you okay?" Suddenly, a soft voice called out to him.

He looked to his left, to the owner of the voice. She had a beautiful flawless face, she looked slender and elegant with purple-colored hair pouring down to her waist. She had arched eyebrows, and an intelligent radiance was seen within her eyes.

"I'm fine, thanks. I'm just thinking of something." He smiled slightly as he replied.

"Oh"

Shortly after, a commotion could be heard coming from the back.

'So we're on his second life.' Shen Yue thought in his mind with relief. Although Nie Li is a pain in the ass, having him would make the fight against the sage emperor easier.

"He seems interested in you." Shen Yue teased Ye Ziyun who has a frowning expression on her face.

"You're just imagining it." Ye Ziyun replied as she thought, 'This good-for-nothing has been staring at me for a while now. Hmph, if he dares to bully me, I'll teach him a lesson.'

After that, it went just like in the manhua with Nie Li being punished to stand at the back of the class, joined by his two best friends and three commoners.

'Finally finished, huh?' He thought as he headed for the library.

Holy Orchid Institute Library

Shen Yue picked up a bunch of books regarding cultivation and languages, chose a quiet place, and started quickly flipping through the books page by page.

If others saw this scene, they might think that he was simply playing around.

'Fortunately, I have an A.I chip with me, granting me a photographic memory. In addition to the quick processing and calculation ability of the Chip, I can quickly read through books, and assimilate the knowledge when I sleep. It's a pity that my brain can't handle the strain. Otherwise, I would assimilate them on the spot.' His A.I chip warned him last night after he went to flip through book after book testing the ability of his A.I chip.

After flipping through books till the sun set completely, he went home, ate, and then continued his reading in the Sacred Family's Library till 10 pm and headed to bed.

'A.I Chip, start assimilation!'

[Beep! Affirmative!]

With that, he went to the land of dreams.

*Urgh*

Around 5 am at dawn, a grunting sound could be heard as a teenage boy was forced out of his sleep.

'I hate these sounds.' He thought as he got out of bed. 'Specially if there's no alarm clocks to hit. I can't just hit my head, could I?' he mused.

'Alright, let's check the results.' Shen Yue thought as he sat in a meditative posture and went through all the knowledge he acquired. This is a necessary process to fully assimilate the knowledge in his mind, a finishing touch if you will. Thankfully, with the help of the system, his thought processing speed was increased manyfold.

He only woke up 20 minutes later.

'Alright, after this is strength training.' Shen Yue thought as he started doing push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and their other variants till exhaustion.

After eating, brushing, and taking a bath, he headed for school.
