1 It Was Dark.

It was dark. I couldn't see anything, not even my hands. I don't remember who I am, nor do I really care, to be honest. I tried getting up, I failed, my knees were too weak to support my weight, so I waited until feeling came into my entire body again, I tried standing up, this time with a little more success, I tried walking, felt fine but after a few brief seconds of stumbling my way through the dark I fell, again. By now I had realized that I had my eyes closed, but surprisingly I couldn't open them, no, that's not quite right, I didn't want to open them, it felt wrong, alien, in a sense. Even when I opened my eyes it was still dark, in fact, it was darker, as if they were only there to decorate my face, and nothing more, bringing that up made me wonder of what I looked like, I know how to speak and write, but I don't remember much past that, not even my own face, or what I was.

I stood up again, this time, with more control. Walking in wherever I was is nice, there were faint rain drops in the background, along with a loud lightning strike accompanied by a booming thunder, I thought it was nice, really peaceful in a sense. Walking more the rain drops became louder, I could hear the splashes of puddles being clashed against the falling of the serene rain, once again, it was nice. I went onwards a little longer and started feeling the rain softly hit my skin, it wasn't too hard as to make me feel uncomfortable, and hard enough that it'd make me break out in goosebumps and make me shiver in a strange delight.

I approached a tree near a lake, now fully out of what I assume was a cave. Taking the opportunity to see what I truly looked like, I went to the lake, seeing my own reflection was relieving, in a strange way, it reminded me that I exist, and hopefully will continue to. I was a strange thing, which is weird to say considering I'm me. I couldn't quite tell what I was, you wouldn't notice anything too out of place unless you looked closely, slightly pointed ears that was held with a strange webbing, a rubbery webbing not unlike the ones you'd find on ducks, or platypi, which they'd use on their feet to swim. My eyes, which were now open to help me see myself, were a deep pink and white, the left white, the right pink, both were surrounded by black. I had a human body, except I could feel the same webbing on my ears on my hand and feet, which I only noticed on closer inspection, I could retract and pull out the webbing as much as I wanted, all of this made me wonder so I touched my neck, only to feel gills, a strange thing really, I don't know how it works but it's fascinating. I retracted the webbing and touched where the gills had been, to test a theory of mine, and just as I thought, they were gone, and back was my normal neck. The only other strange feature to note was how tough my skin felt, it wasn't malleable, so I guess that's how I survived being knocked out in a cave for which I assume was a long time.

I started feeling hungry, which was fair considering my circumstances, one thing I didn't like, however, about this body of mine was my vision, I could barely see, and if it wasn't 10 feet close to my face it was blurry. Forging forwards along the rainy forest I leaned against a tree, tired, no idea why either, probably the lack of food, thing is, when I tapped on the tree out of boredom, my surroundings became clear. One tap, normal vision for a minute, two rapid taps, thermal vision for 30 seconds, three rapid taps, night vision for 30 seconds. It was beautiful, seeing the forest in all its wonder. The rain seemed as if it would never stop, and I liked that, tapping once let me see it in all its glory, looking around the trees had dark wood, and purple leaves, I was mesmerized for a full minute until my vision ran out, I chuckled a bit, maybe I could survive here, and if I could go past that, I'd love to make this place my home.
