8 Divine Spell: Sanctification

"Good grief, creating such a commotion! What time do you think it is? You miserable fools." Katakiri Juki said, as he looked at the group of devils and exorcists with an irritated look.

The Devils and exorcists were staring at Katakiri Juki with an incredulous expression.

In particular, a brown haired man with a holy sword was looking at Katakiri Juki with a shocked expression.

"Human?!" A Devil doubted his eyes as he stared at Juki. He could feel incredible power from the old man.

"Could you have your fight somewhere else? I believe it is forbidden for the members of the three factions to fight in human world, especially in a populated place." Juki said as he eyed the two groups with narrowed eyes, expressing his displeasure.

"A mere human dares to command us?!"

One of the Devils got enraged by Juki and a few arrows of fire appeared above the said Devil.

"Scorching Fire Arrows!"

The Devil shot the arrows of fire at Katakiri Juki, who calmly watched all this with a nonchalant smile.

*Boom!*

As the arrows of fire hit Juki, they exploded, shrouded Katakiri Juki in scorching flames.

But…

"Hmph!" With just a wave of his hand, the flames dissipated, as if they never existed. Juki stood there, unscathed.

"What?!" The Devil was shocked.

"Why do you look so shocked? This outcome is pretty normal. I'm an Ultimate-class level powerhouse, while you can barely be considered a mid-class Devil. If the likes of you can put even a scratch on me, I'll crawl under a rock, out of embarrassment." Juki said, as he patted off the dust in his shoulder.

"Ultimate-class?!"

Most of the Devils and Exorcists were shocked. But some of them seemed to have recognized Juki.

"Katakiri-san… Why are you here?" Asked a brown haired exorcist. He seemed to know Katakiri Juki.

"Touji huh? Well, you guys were making so much commotion that it got to my nerves. So I came here with the thought of getting rid of you all." Juki said with a closed eye.

"…" Almost everyone at the scene were silent at Juki's words. Not because of shock, but because of the fact that Katakiri Juki had the capability to put his words into action.

"Indeed. As an Evil Slayer of Ultimate-class level, you can easily get rid of us. But…" The Devil who seemed to be leading the group of devils said.

"If you truly kill us, you'll be brought down by the Devil faction for attacking us, as Evil Slayers are supposed to be neutral to all three factions." The Devil stated.

"Hmm…" Juki hummed as he looked at the leading Devil in amusement.

"You do have a point. But you seem to be forgetting something here…" Juki said, as he continued..

"You see, that devil subordinate of yours just attacked me. In other words, the Devils are the ones who initiated this conflict. I'm just a passersby, yet I was unfairly attacked without any justifiable reason. Even after I get rid of you all, I'll have a good reason to justify my actions." Juki smiled ruthlessly as he clenched his fist.

This was no racial discrimination on the part of Juki. He doesn't have anything in particular against the devils. If anything, he is in friendly terms with quite a few Devils. The only reason why he decided to take action against this group of Devils was because, he had heard what the exorcists accused this group of devils. And the fact that these Devils didn't even bother to deny the accusation, further solidified that the words of the exorcists were true.

"Passersby? In the middle of night?" Some of the exorcists thought, dumbfounded at the turn of events.

Katakiri Juki formed some hand signs as his magic power coated his hands. Slowly, the blue magic energy turned black.

"Touji-san, what is that black power on his hands?!" A man named Yaegaki Masaomi asked in a fearful voice. The feeling he got from the black power of Katakiri Juki, shook him to his core.

"That's… the signature technique of the Evil Slayers. The Divine Spell: Sanctification." Touji replied with a grim look on his face.

"Divine Spell? Sanctification?" the exorcist named Yaegaki Masaomi looked confused, as he was hearing these terms for the first time.

"In the distant past, due to the mistake of gods, a frightening creature was created. Some called it Demons(Oni), while some called it Evil Deities. The Demons multiplied quickly in numbers, and were able to grow in strength by consuming human flesh and blood. Their strength itself was very powerful. But what was more frightening was that, they were immortal, and could not be injured by mortal means. Even some of the gods started to be wary of these creatures." Touji said in a low voice.

"Such creatures exists in this world?" Yaegaki Masaomi asked in surprise.

"They don't exist now, because they were wiped out about a few hundred years ago. It all started when some of the gods granted some humans, the means to utilise magic power, to fend for themselves against the demons. The gods did so, out of pity. Even so, it did not grant humans the ability to defeat the demons. But then one day, with the birth of a certain individual, everything changed."

"The boy was named Kamado Yosuke, who is now known as the first Evil Slayer. His existence defied the logic. At a very young age, he developed the techniques known as Divine Spells from the methods that gods had granted humans a few centuries ago. It was like Kamado Yosuke was born solely for the purpose of defeating the demons. But even then, it only increased the fighting capability of humans, but not the ability to defeat the Demons." Touji said.

"That person is incredible…" Yaegaki Masaomi muttered.

Touji continued.

"But soon after came the creation of the technique that brought about the end of the Demons. The Divine Spell: Sanctification. A very complex technique that can turn your energy into a unique form of power, that can inflict fatal damage to one's soul. But that was not the only effect of this technique. It could easily bypass divinity, immortality and similar concepts, if the technique is mastered to a certain extent. On top of that, this technique could be used along with other Divine Spells to maximize the fighting prowess of the Evil Slayers. This technique was able to ignore the immortality of Demon and kill them permanently. The creation of this technique shocked even the gods, as this technique would work on them as well, which made the gods quite wary of the technique." Touji said.

"Incredible… a technique that even gods fear…" Yaegaki Masaomi muttered under his breath in disbelief.

"But, Touji-san. If this technique is so incredible, surely most of the factions would try to get their hands on it, right?" Yaegaki Masaomi asked in doubt.

"But they won't. Or rather, they couldn't. The power of Kamado Yosuke was something very immense. As the creator of the Divine Spell: Sanctification, he was able to develop it to unimaginable heights. Because of that, he became the first human to rank in the list of 'Top ten strongest in the world'. The higher ranks at that. The only weakness he had was his ageing body, as he was still a human. Even with all the strength he had, he could only live up to 200 years. He could have chosen so many methods to live longer, but he didn't, because he felt that he would be abandoning his humanity. So many had mocked him as a fool." Touji said.

"I kind of understand why others called him a fool. To let go of such amazing power he gained, because of something imaginary like 'humanity'." Yaegaki Masaomi couldn't help but say his thoughts. At the same time he thought, if he was able to possess such strength, he would be able to do so much for the sake of heaven and also for his...

"Soon he perished of old age. But before that, he casted some sort of divine spell, which was unknown to even the other Evil Slayers. The effect was that, only the descendants of the original Evil Slayers are able to learn the Divine Spell: Sanctification. No one could defy it. Not even gods."

"That's…" Yaegaki Masaomi was gobsmacked at his realization.

"That's right. Kamado Yosuke had tampered with the true laws of the world. A feat that shocked all of the supernatural world. It made every factions realise that, Kamado Yosuke's power had reached far beyond their imagination." Touji said in a low voice.

"…" Yaegaki Masaomi was shocked beyond words. He decided that, if he returned to the headquarters, he'll thoroughly research about this legendary figure known as 'Kamado Yosuke'.

While they were talking to each other, their focus didn't leave Katakiri Juki.

Hearing the little discussion between Touji and Yaegaki Masaomi, Juki laughed lightly.

"Well… I haven't managed to properly learn the true Divine Spell: Sanctification, as I'm quite lacking in talent. Not that it matters against the likes of these Devils." Juki muttered under his breath.

Juki clapped his hands together and stamped on the ground with force.

*Rumble!*

The ground started to shake, startling the Devils and Exorcists.

"Divine Spell: Nine Lives Earth Dragon Execution!"

Nine serpentine dragons made of earth emerged from the ground, and surrounded the Devils. Enormous magic power was present in the nine Earth Dragons. They eyed the frightened Devils with emotionless eyes.

But, before the Earth Dragons started their assault…

"Wait, Katakiri-san!" A silver-haired beautiful woman appeared, interrupting Katakiri Juki.

"Hm?" Juki looked at the newcomer with a raised eyebrow.

The exorcists and devils alike, were surprised at the sudden arrival of the silver haired woman.

"Cleria…" Yaegaki Masaomi muttered in a low voice, at the sight of the silver haired woman.

The woman had long silver hair that reached to her back, with beautiful green eyes, and a figure with accentuated curves in the right places.

"Katakiri-san, rather than killing them, how about you turn them over to one of the Four Great Satans? These people could possibly be related to the remnants of old Satan faction. So.." The silver haired woman suggested as she eyed the Devils, who had grim expressions upon hearing her suggestion.

"Cleria-sama! Why are you siding with that human?!" One of the Devils shouted.

Some other devils also started to voice their disagreement to the silver haired woman's actions. Though, the woman paid no attention to them.

"Hmm… Internal problems, huh? Sure, I'll go along with your suggestion, Cleria-dono." Juki agreed with the woman's suggestion, after giving it some thought.

Then, Juki pointed his hand towards the devils and made a clenching motion.

The earth dragons coiled around the Devils and detained them. When the Devils tried to use their devil powers to escape the confinement of the earth dragons, they found out that their demonic energy was constantly absorbed by the said confinement.

After Juki detained the Devils, the silver haired beautiful woman, who is called Cleria Bellial, used Teleportation magic to take away the Devils.

Of course, she didn't forget to take the Devil that was captured by the Exorcists, as well. With Juki's presence, the exorcists didn't object to this.

After the Devils were gone, Juki turned his attention to the exorcists.

"Shido Touji. If I remember correctly, you were supposed to be in England. Why are you in Japan, much less in Kuoh Town?" Juki asked with narrowed eyes.
