8 Esdeath

Esdeath's Pov

" What a bore. Everyone says, there's nothing more relaxing than sitting on a tree and staring at the sky, but I can't seem to relax even a bit." I leaned my back on the tree and stretched my legs, but since it is hard to find a leg rest, I used some force on my heels so they sank inside the branch.

Sleeping like this is much harder than I thought, especially with my uniform and hair, but I somehow gained stability on the branch. My sword kept on troubling me with the equilibrium but after I used ice to stick my back with the trunk, I sat comfortably.

"There is no way I can relax like this" I murmured as I stared towards the empty sky.

[I have power, money, status, and everything I want but what is this sense of loneliness. It feels like everyone beside me are just objects which I use at my comfort, everything feels so lifeless.]

"Like I thought nothing soothes me more than my torture chamber"

[I want to go back to my torture chamber. Yesterday they caught some bandits, let's have some fun.]

A little laziness filled my body.

[Let's try to close my eyes for a bit and see if it's relaxing]

I closed my eyes after turning on my Seventh eye (It's a skill where they can sense their surroundings even when they are asleep).

[ It feels better than before. I can clearly hear all the surrounding voices and the pleasant smell of this tree. Wait, I can hear footsteps. Is it a wild monster or a bandit who wants to get revenge for his fallen friends?]

An ordinary-looking guy is approaching towards the tree. He doesn't seem to notice me on the tree.

[What is he? I don't sense any killing intent from this guy, maybe he is just a passerby, let's ignore him. What is in his hand? *looking at the potato chips* Some food?]

He passed me from below the branch and stopped dead silent.

[Why did he stop? Does he want to kill me, I can sense something from him.]

He looked above at me, ogling at my thighs and hips.

[What is he doing, does he plan on attacking me from beneath? I often feel angry when someone looks at me, but now even when he is scanning my lower half I don't sense a bit of anger. If there is a feeling it's something unexplainable. Why is that? Let's see what he does.]

He turned forward again and continued to walk forward.

[Why is he going even after watching a defenseless lady like me?...]

I am sensing a monster beneath me. Let's just slowly kill it without killing it.

That guy turned back towards me. He seems to be thinking something as he watched the snakes crawling towards me.

[What is he doing? Does he want to kill it or watch me getting killed by it? Judging by what he has in his hands, the second ones seem appropriate. Let's see what he does. This thing can't even me.]

The snakes joined to form larger ones. He still stood there motionless.

Now, he placed his hand behind his back and bought out a knife, and charged forwards towards the snake. He managed to cut a few small heads, but now he became the monster's target. Judging by his movements and power, he doesn't look like a fighter or an adventurer, but to be certain he is more like a total amateur in fighting.

He gripped his small knife with both his hands and swung hard with both his eyes closed. All the heads got chopped in an instant, pulling the main body out of the bushes he slashed it into two.

"Namu amida butsu," he said, looking at the dead body.

"Yay, I did it" A bright smile showed across his face which twitched my heart.

*doki* *doki* (Lub-Dub, Lub-Dub)

[What's this feeling]

I opened my eyes. "Esdeath"

I jumped in front of him from the tree.

"Esdeath's my name."

I introduced myself.
